Guys & Gals, we all know to accomplish any goal one needs to dream, plan and have a strategy to execute it.

So Lets dream BIG!!

Starting tomorrow, we have 60 days to Pakistan's 60th Anniversary. How are we going to celebrate it. The same mundane way or with a lot of gusto & style. Banners here are great but we could do more!

Lets come up with ideas to do something grand! (I don't have many ideas but two or more brains are better than one, as they say).

Well I do have a few modest suggestions, if they are not totally shot down.

One as why don't all of Pak members have a Pakistan-oriented Avatar, signature or BOTH, atleast for the next two months to show our solidarity & committment to Pakistan.

Other is to make a vow to yourself to do something to help the homeland this year ( just like people make new year resolution and atleast try to keep it).

Perhaps we can also form a think tank here to discuss ways that we as individuals or/and together can do to assist causes in Pakistan. We can also explore the Pak. NGOs who already trying to do lot of good with very limited means and find some that we could support.

So lets plan a great Pakistan 60th Birthday Party! :carrot: :cucumber:

I wana with

“One as why don't all of Pak members have a Pakistan-oriented Avatar, signature or BOTH, at least for the next two months to show our solidarity & commitment to Pakistan.”

Rests of the ideas are fine but tough to manage in such a busy routine :( and I am not a part of any such welfare community.

Please dont mind. What we celebrate, the corruption in our country, the vision of Quaid which ruined by politicians, the name of the State which doesnt reflect the reality, the human rights, the rights for women, the equality for all the casts and classes. Why dont we remember those 1million who died during this partition because "Freedom isnt Free"?

Yes 60 years, we have been free but have we really? Did we achieve what our neighbours have achieved in same time? We had the resources and we hard the hard working and honest people but the few opposite them ruined it all.

Please think what you are going to do, celebrate in style or remember the word of Quaid and pray for those who scrificed for this freedom. Many spending huge sum of money on this and there will be those who would struggle to join you in, we need to think about them.

^^ Well Mr. Shah, you're absolutely right that we have many problems & issues in Pakistan and we're not everything that Quaid probably hoped to see. But if you're familiar with the history, then you would also know that the current area that makes up Pakistan today was extremely backward and undeveloped at the time of its creation. Then moreover many hindus & sikhs left which furthur deprived the country of lot of skilled people.

But then the miracle happened, the immigrants from the other side were welcomed by the local Punjabis, Pathans & Sindhis and the spirit of Ansars of Medina was once again reborn. EVeryone had a vision and the country progressed with a fervor, but the political instabilities did slow it down but could not stop it.

When we complain, we must not forget the progress Pakistan has made inspite of all the internal & external hurdles. And my brother, thats what we celebrate - the ongoing struggle of its people to not give up on the dream of Quaid.

After all there is not a single country that is perfect and doesn't have problems to different degrees. Does that mean they should wait until the country is totally free of problems to rejoice in their achievements, how meager they may see to some.

By celebrating & rejoicing, we also inspire the next generations to carry on the task of making the country the best it can be.

As long as there are concerned people like you who ache to make their country great, there is hope.

We have progressed very far and we should be very proud that we have survived. This spirit of ours that helps us tolerate these hardships will help us continue to survive in the future. Eventually we will make it to the top and our empire will stand the test of time.

I have seen many shows on Pakistan by BBC and all of them gave positive coverage, especially the Himalayan one with Micheal Palin.

I intend to see this one about the 60th Anniversary of India's and Pakistan's independence aswell! Inshallah I will watch all of them!

With Pakistan 60th anniversary coming, we'll see a barrage of Pak flags. But unfortunately many of them would be incorrectly made or be of wrong shade of green.

Ofcourse its not done intentionally as its not the easiest flag to make correctly.

So I found this diagram that might be helpful!

The Dynasty: The Birthright

This episode introduces us to Abida and her family. As a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad and a former ambassador, Abida has rights to a wealth of land that she maintains closely. Her son, who is being educated at Yale, returns home for Muharram, a deeply divisive ceremony. This series follows a matriarch's efforts to maintain her heritage and, in turn, some of Pakistan's traditions.

Sleeping with the Enemy: 1: Partition
The devastating consequences of partition for women in India and Pakistan.

During partition, many women were abducted and this programme investigates how women were forcibly converted and married. Belief that community honour was dependent on women's purity sometimes led to desperate measures by families. Linda Pressley also reports on the recovery and exchange of thousands of these women by India and Pakistan, a process that gave the women no choice about their future.
