We have Knology as a cable/internet/phone provider, we have Bright House Networks as the same and Verizon is getting into the game with FiOS. That being said, consider this a thread for Tampa Bay's local TV scene... (and while I just pointed out the local cable companies, I skipped the local TV stations or acknowledgment of the growing base of satellite subscribers).

The reason I brought up the cable providers in the area is because I was wondering if anyone knew of additional stations that are supposed to be appearing on any of the local cable providers sometime soon? I know Verizon provides the NFL Network and Bright House customers have been clamoring to have it added for a while.

I don't know too much about the Tampa TV scene, as the only channels I ever really watch are CNN, Bay News 9 (Bright House ONLY), and WEDU. I have some relatives who have Verizon, but my mom is switching back to Bright House in a few months. I have Bright House standard cable and am sticking to it. I especially like the fact that there is such thing as 24-hour news channels like Bay News 9 and CNN Headline News because with the busy schedules of so many people these days, who really has time to sit in front of a TV all day just to get the headlines of the day?

I got a link to a pretty cool website that covers Florida's TV news stations. They provide the latest news about the stations (like staffing changes) and even provide videos clips of different newscasts. It's meant for research purposes only though, so I will hand you that warning right there. The person who runs the website is really strict about people who don't abide by the fact that the website is only for research/educational purposes and was almost sued to death by two media companies for some crap (I don't remember exactly what it was about). Anyways, the website is http://www.flnewscenter.com.

I like the City of Tampa station... Very informative and well produced for a govt channel imo.

I like HTV 22 too. Even though I live in the city of Tampa. I actually find both government access channels to be pretty apealling.

Being in Pinellas, we get the county commission and board of education meetings on TV here but it's nothing to write home about.

I'm curious in part because I have family with a HDTV and the HD channel offerings are few at best (though ther eis no one forced to broadcast everything in HD yet). That and I've seen for myself that several of the digital stations are now blank -- stations have shut down or have been moved on the cable box. I'm wondering if changes are afoot.

I love CTTV its very informative, you can watch the Architectural Review Board at work as well as City Council making descisons, cermonies, they even have historic tours of Ybor and the Tampa Theater, its really cool.
I haven't had the patients to sit down and watch the other ones.

^^ Patience you mean.

For a second I thought you were trying to have people in a home or hospital watch :)
