I know many English and many of them believe EE is in the 3rd world and a shithole not worth bothering about. Brits are Ignorant, many also believe that they created all of EE after versailles because it was all either German or Russian, for them were just cheap labour.
Although i love sibu and for me its a beautifull town love to go to Romania soon..

Sorry i was in the U.K for the summer of 2006, in Tunbridge Wells. and thats the impression i got while i was there for 3 monthes. I was racially abused in a few bars and lets say i liked the U.K but many people actually gave me that impression as i described above. Anyway im not saying all british are like this, there were some nice people, but many are so far up their own arse its impossible to describe, plus why does nobody smile especially on public transport. These people you seem to class as "chavs" are the worse. You can tell a nice brit from a bad one a mile off.

I'm the same as JDRS, it looks a beautiful place and one I had never heard of. It really does look amazing. Some of those buildings are some of the nicest I've ever seen, it looks a city of colour.

I see it has trolley buses, there is talk of Leeds getting them and I'm quite intreagued to see what they look like in action.

well you did go to Tunbridge Wells! Tunbridge Wells is conservative middle-class worrying heartland where people think immigration will be the end of the Victorian era and tax is a bad thing.

No one smiles on public transport because people are going too and from work mainly and we tend to leave people to their own devices here which is a different sentiment to being nosey. Having said that I cant think of many places ive been were people on their own on public transport grin and smile :S

People are not that excited about someone from another country appearing it is too common, they are definitely not going to break out into local song and dance! Having said that if you asked a question on the street most people would bother to try and help.

Don't be stupid, millions of British tourists go to Prague, Budapest, Krakow, Riga, Bulgarian and Croatian coast, skiing in Bulgaria or Slovenia etc etc every year. Why would they go if they are so ignorant and think that EE is a shithole?

I'm sorry you didn't like Tunbridge Wells but the town is known for being very conservative and bourgeois, maybe that's why people didn't seem very friendly to a recent Polish immigrant?

I have a friend from Romania who has been living here for several years and likes it very much, Sibiu looks great, I'd love to visit next time i'm in EE :cheers2:

This is a must see/visit (honestly) - unique in the world - UNESCO protected

Transylvania, a hilly region situated in the centre of Romania, represents a very special cultural landscape. Bearing the mark of a centuries long mingled life of the Romanians, Hungarians and Saxons and Germans, it has a unique feature: nowhere else in the world are there to be found, preserved, in such a narrow space, so many reinforced churches and fortress-churches, witnessing such a varied material expression of the defence technique. The origin and development of church reinforcements are, undoubtedly linked to the troubled history of Transylvania, starting from the Tatar invasion, in 1241 - 1242, passing through the Turks' repeated forays - from 1395 - to the devastating Mohacs defeat of 1526.
Beside their relevance as regards the study of fortified buildings, all churches bear witness for the history of art and architecture in central Europe and mediaeval Transylvania, marked by influences from the south of Germany, Bohemia and Austria , from the Roman age to late Gothic. The entrenched churches and fortress-churches are the most relevant Saxon legacy and the token of their fusion with their own past. To point out the significance of the Saxon fortress-churches of Transylvania, a German- Romanian team revealed the project to include on the UNESCO world heritagelist some representative examples of different kinds of communities, once German, including the villages: Cilnic, Valea Viilor, Saschiz, Viscri and Prejmer, etc, (as at present only the Biertan, Valea Viilor and Viscri fortress- church is on the list).
