I have a Fuji FinePix A700...received it as a gift this past Christmas. Basic $200 point/click. This is the first camera that I have ever owned. With that being said, it's a fair assumption that I am an absolute novice when it comes to photography.

I took this picture last Friday in Portland, OR. Since my knowledge of what's good quality and what isn't is sparse, I'm looking for some feedback in regards to what I could have done to make it look better. In my eyes it's a decent looking shot, yet again...what do I know, I'm a rookie! Thanks!!!!!

:) not bad, you picked up the subject well...I mean you will always find ways to shooting something like this...this is a solid photo regardless.

the lamp behind the flower bugs me a bit...but hey it still works.

recommend, zooming in further to allow the flower itself more room in the view...that would blend a lot of that background away.

keep working, its not the camera that finds the composition of the photo...your eyes do that.
