Vidin (Bulgarian: Видин) is a town on the southern bank of the Danube in northwestern Bulgaria. It is close to the borders with Serbia and Romania, and is also the administrative centre of Vidin Province.Vidin boasts two well-preserved mediaeval fortresses, Baba Vida and Kaleto, as well as many old Orthodox churches such as St Pantaleimon, St Petka (both 17th century), and St Greatmartyr Demetrius (19th century), a Jewish synagogue (1894), a mosque and a library of Osman Pazvantoğlu, the late 18th century Turkish ruler of northwestern Bulgaria, the cruciform barracks of 1798, and a number of old Renaissance buildings.
Vidin was a capital of the Vidin's Bulgarian kingdom.

Yes,they have renovated it by the project "Beautiful Bulgaria" and now it looks cool not only outside-the rooms are renovated too and there are still some things to finish.Our director says this is the smallest maths high school in Bulgaria,but I'm not sure if that's true.:)

На 12 юли 2007 година ще бъде направена първата копка на Просветно-социалния център към храма „Успение Богородично”, съобщи кметът на Видин д-р Иван Ценов. Центърът ще бъде разположен на 233 кв.м. разгърната площ, в участъка между храма и жп линията. Обектът ще бъде изграден с дарителски средства, като един от основните спомоществователи е Ротари клуб Видин. Ротарианците са поели ангажимент за цялостното вътрешно обзавеждане на постройката, в която ще има трапезария и неделно училище; кухненски бокс с разливна; лекарски кабинет; склад; сервизно помещение за обслужване на персонала; канцелария и помещение за дарения; приемна на свещеника; охрана и външна тоалетна.
Проектът е изработен от арх. Олег Николов, който е проектирал и храма „Успение Богородично”. Проектните книжа на просветно-социалния център вече са минали на Експертен съвет и в момента тече процедура по съгласуване.

Which island exactly? The one opposite the port is a Romanian island.

The one just opposite camping site (Къмпинга).There are a lot of motor boats,джетове(?) and of course many people.They can take you over with a boat for 1 lev to the island and then back if you don't want to swim across-there is nothing to swim,coz the Danube is really low,but the water is not clean between the camping site and the island,so many people prefer the boat than swimming.

This is where my cousins graduated. It was painted in green in the 70s and 80s. During the flood 70 years ago the water reached the windows of this school.

Да, ясно. М/у другото нивото беше рекордно ниско още през май така че не се учудвам, че нема вода до острова. Чудно е, че както казваш водата е мръсна. По принцип около Видин Дунава е чист, има нелоши плажове с песък, а този остров е нагоре по реката и далеч от пристанището. Но в интерес на истината там чак не съм ходил защото плажовете в града са си готини и водата е о.к. Помня, че на времето брегът около Ново село беше фантастично красив и чист. Водата беше прозрачна, а реката отдалеч имаше син цвет. И дъното беше чисто и пясъчно, имаше естествени горички до водата и дори летен пионерски лагер, в който ходеха видинските ученици.

Great. I am glad these old beautiful buildings are getting renovated rather than destroyed.

Vidin does need some reconstruction in the central streets and the square. May be the sort of thing done in the centre of Russe - "Beautiful Bulgaria" project. Or may be there are other EU funds available.

They are renovated because they are private property.If the owner is going to have a magazine he renovates it.But if the owner doesn't have money-you see.So there is really need of renovation.

Пътуващата фотографска рок изложба "Концертите в България" пристигна във Видин. Изложбата съдържа 40 фотоса, разпределени в 20 големи табла, на които са показани моменти от концертите на най-известните гостуващи рок групи
през последните 3 години. Фотосите са дело на фотографите на вестниците “24 часа” и “Труд” и ще бъдат изложени на централния площад “Бдинци” от утре.

A folklore fest will be carried out.There will be participants from Poland,Greece,Serbia,Turkey,Romania and Bulgaria of course.
Фолклорни състави от Полша, Гърция, Сърбия, Румъния, Турция и България ще участват в традиционния фолклорен фестивал “Танци край Дунав”, който ще се проведе от 17 до 21 юли във Видин. Това стана ясно на съвместна пресконференция на представители на Община Видин и читалище “Цвят”. Фестивалът е традиционен за града и се провежда от 1997 година на всеки две години. Тази година е шестото му издание, което ще премине под патронажа на кмета д-р Иван Ценов. Изявата е част и от Националния културен календар.
Тази година броят на участниците ще е най-голям – около 200, съобщиха организаторите. Ще има 5 гостуващи състава.
“Танци Край Дунав” ще бъде официално открит на 17 юли с дефиле на участниците из града и концерт на откритата сцена на галерията. На 18 юли съставите ще имат среща с видинския кмет, след което ще отпътуват за Кула, Ново село, Димово и Макреш за участие в концерти. На 19 юли фестивалът ще бъде изнесен за един ден в Белоградчик, а закриването ще е на 20 юли вечерта на откритата сцена на крепостта “Баба Вида”

Nilix, can you show us the very impressive Vidin bypass motorway, i remember 2001 seeing a bridge motoreay after the border which wasn´t finished yet. It looked fucking impressive and new and shiny, we had to go down fo teh motorway because it wasn´t finished, i don´t know how long that stretch is but it looked quite amazing, i hope you have pics of it. and how long is it 4 lamed?

What happened Nilix, you have any pics of the vidin bypass or motorway, i don´t know what it is.

So,the motorway you discribe is not "околовръстно".you talk for the road that is going from Vidin to Sofia via Dimovo,right?Everything is completed long time ago and it's not top class,but is good enough.there is a bridge too which is just before the road fork for Lom,which was completed a few weeks after the road.
Pics-I'm going to take,coz I'm going to Turnovo for my exams on 18th this month.I'll post them when I came back-21/22.

Do you know why this road has so "awesome quality" Because the austrina fucking whoresons of Strabag built it, that´s why it has such an fucking awful quality, i was talking about the Vidin bypass aswell asi remember it was motorway bypass with a bridge, just after the border that turned in as far as i remember.

I at least hope deeply that the whoresons paid for that shit to be repaired, i am so sad about them, strange that what macedonian and turkish comapnies did lost extremly long but what some "renomated" company like Strabag did not last long at all. Man, please take this 10 - 15 minutes more and make a few pics of that, it looks quite good, at least it looked when it was new. I would be very thankful for that. They did the same shit with the airport, i hope they will never be allowed to built any motorway here.

14 streets had been asphalted in may.
29 300 кв. м. нова асфалтова настилка е положила от месец май досега Община Видин в рамките на дейностите по ремонтирането на улиците в града, съобщи кметът д-р Иван Ценов. Стойността на изпълнените досега ремонти е 582 000 лева. Обновени са общо 14 улици:

За периода от 16 до 20 юли ще бъдат подновени асфалтовите настилки на още 6 улици: улицата покрай бл. “Вида” №13; ул. “Любен Каравелов” /от ул. “Райко Жинзифов до ул. “Христо Ботев”/; ул. “Широка” /от бул. “Панония” до ул. “Плиска”/; подходът към к-с “Вида”, покрай оградата на “Вида стил”; подходът за к-с “Ал. От 17 до 20 юли видинчани могат да видят и специалното автошоу на „Ситроен”. Една от най-известните в света автомобилни компании ще презентира всеки ден във времето от 9 до 17 часа на пл. „Бдинци” 5 от своите марки автомобили. Почитателите на марката „Ситроен” лично ще могат да се уверят във възможностите на колите. Фирма „Ситроен” е един от спонсорите на юлските празници, организирани от Община Видин.

Hubert von Goisern – Linz Danube tour 2007-2009
Видин е първият български град на р. Дунав, в който ще бъде изнесен концерт по проекта „Hubert von Goisern – Linz Danube tour 2007-2009. Проектът е с продължителност 10 седмици и е стартирал от град Линц, съобщи кметът д-р Иван Ценов. Конвой от 3 кораба пътува по поречието на Дунав и изнася концерти, които са място за музикални срещи на културните традиции от различни страни.
Във Видин концертът ще е на 15 юли /неделя/ в 20,00 ч. Корабът, превърнат в музикален подиум, ще е разположен в реката срещу драматичния театър. Концертите по вода са насрочени в близо 50 града, като австрийският музикант Хуберт фон Гойсерн е поканил в тях да участват и местни музиканти. В България това са Даринка Цекова и Духов Оркестър “Карандила”. След Видин концерти ще има в Русе и Силистра.
Мисията на този проект е да подпомогне развитието на културната общност на страните по поречието на река Дунав която със своите 2889 километра е най-дългата европейска река. Това е едно своеобразно културно разширяване на Европейската Общност на изток. Срещата на културите от региона ще подкрепи разкриването на едно неподправено и истинско лице на региона ще окуражи комуникацията и културния обмен на дунавските страни и техните жители. Река Дунав винаги е била живата връзка между културите и традициите и тази инициатива отново поставя в центъра на общественото внимение културата на тези страни – нещо което доскоро най-вече поради политическото и икономическо разделение на континента дълго време беше останало на заден план.
Проектът се провежда под патронажа на председателя на Европейската Комисия Хосе Мануел Барозу и е реализиран със съдействието на Линц 2009 Европейска столица на културата (Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture), UNESCO, WWF, Европейската Общност, Министерство на външните работи на Австрия, Red Bull, IDM и ORF
Хуберт Фон Гойсерн – артистичното сърце на проекта, е австрийски музикант допринесъл, в огромна степен за популяризирането на австрийската традиционна музика.

http://www.vidin.info/images/stories/RaliVida.jpg Второто по сила и значимост рали у нас преди промените от 1989 г. се завръща в календара след 18-годишно отсъствие с първия Супер специален етап в България.
От 20-21 юли по пътищата между гр. Видин и гр. Белоградчик ще се проведе 20-ото рали “Вида”, което ще стартира с първия истински Супер специален етап в България,

по подобие на най-известните ралита от световния шампионат. Супер специалният етап, или ССЕ (SSS - Super Special Stage), се провежда на паралелно трасе, където автомобилите стартират по двойки. Специално изградената за целта писта е върху територията на бившия Видински панаир. Състезанието по двойки обикновено е най-атрактивната част от едно състезание, тъй като по същество то представлява директно състезание между два автомобила. Това е причината рали “Вида” да започне и финишира със Супер специален етап. За целта е изграден специален мост в стил Race of Champions, чрез който пилотите разменят трасетата, в които се състезават, по този начин двамата състезатели изминават напълно идентично разстояние.
Рали Вида има общо 8 скоростни отсечки, включително двата Супер специални етапа. Състезанието е с обща дължина 316,19 км, от които 91,42 км – специални етапи. Трасето е атрактивно, особено отсечките около градовете Орешец и Белоградчик, които позволяват на зрителите да наблюдават пилотите в продължение на няколко километра, заради особения релеф на терена.
Рали “Вида” има 19-годишна история през 70-те и 80-те години. В този период това е второто по популярност състезание у нас, след легендарното рали “Златни пясъци”. В края на този период ралито се сдобива с коефициент, според категоризацията на ФИА, което го нарежда сред вторите по значение ралита в Европейския рали шампионат. Ралито носи името на най-голямата забележителност на града - крепостта “Баба Вида”, намираща се на брега на Дунав, това е единствената изцяло запазена средновековна крепост в България. В предходното си издание, през 1988 г., рали “Вида” достига своя апогей, през същата година автомобилен спортен клуб “Вида” става републикански шампион на България.
Сега, след 18-годишно прекъсване и няколко неуспешни опита за възраждане, рали “Вида” е готово за своето второ начало. Основата на възраждането на надпреварата са автомобилен спортен клуб PRESTIGE и BESTRIDE - агенция за организация на спортни събития.
В организацията много активно се включиха общините Видин, Белоградчик, Димово и Чупрене, както и много видински и софийски фирми. Възраждането на рали Вида е важно събитие не само за автомобилния спорт в България, но и за жителите на град Видин, който има дълги традиции и високи спортни постижения в рали състезанията.
По време на рали Вида организаторите ще проведат и благотворителна акция в помощ на “Дом за медикосоциални грижи за деца” в гр. Видин. По време на двата Супер специалния етапа ще се продават тениски и шапки с логото на 20-то юбилейно автомобилно състезание, приходите от които ще бъдат дарени на дома.
Директор на ралито е Емил Маринов, бивш рали състезател, в момента собственик най-луксозния хотел в града - 5-звездния хотел “Анна Кристина”, -директор - Румен Манолов, кметът на Видин д-р Иван Ценов е председател на организационния комитет за ралито; заместник-председател е Владо Илиев.

Как го каза все едно ме познаваш и за пръв път ме виждаш с обръсната глава (<-не го казвам с лоши чувства, а така :lol: ).Проблемът е че останах без коса (има си още,ама бая редка)-кво да се прави-тестостерон :nuts: Иначе бръснат наистина не ми седи баш,трябва да си купя машинка за постригване.На 3-4 дена е супер.:cheers:

About the Jewish synagogue-it's in ruins and if it's left without any reconstruction it's just a matter of time to collapse-there's no roof.

Vidin is among my favourite places - it lies in the North-West, by a great river, has lots of heritage, and a good friend of mine was born there. I'm sure the town will draw many tourists from now on, especially when the fortress has been restored, and the long-awaited bridge nears its completion.

P.S. Great job, JloKyM and whoever helped this threat come back where it belongs!!!!!!! :cheers:

^^ Вътре има наистина брутална акустика, моята братовчедка от Русе пя един път там "Назад, назад моме Калино" (тогава тя се занимаваше с пеене) и беше невероятно.За съжаление известно време пещерата е била на произвола на съдбата и някои от рисунките са надраскани от местни деца или вандали,щото е имало дело кой да за нея...ррррррррр

Търся снимки на Видин от въздуха и от високо (от хотел Ровно или от съвета-то едва ли има от къде другаде да се снима).Обаче нищо не мога да намеря.Ровичкам тука няколко дена из нета,обаче нищо по-прилично не се намира.Само някоя и друга стара снимчица от покрива на някой блок и това е.

Има ли идея да се съхранят останките на тази сграда, ако не да се възстанови изцяло? Изглежда е била с интересна и различна архитектура, което я прави ценна, а като гледам липсва каквато и да е подръжка :bash:

Последната информация е, че са отпуснати над 4 млн. лв. за реставрация, наред с Баба Вида и Кръстата казарма. Реставрацията по Кръстата казарма започва август, а да се надяваме, че времето и парите ще стигнат и за синагогата. Между другото - тя ще бъде реставрирана не като храм, а като музей, така че ще бъде достъпна за широк кръг посетители.

Най-накрая видях пръскане срещу комари :cheers: Гадовете са много и големи и ако не се взимат мерки става страшно.

Simpatichno grad4e, hodil sym nqkolko pyti. Kazvat, che Vidin e nai-bedniqt oblasten grad v Bg, no na men mi haresva dalech poveche ot Kyustendil naprimer ili Tyrgovishte. Naposledyk chuvam hubavi neshta za kmeta g-n Vidov, no ne moga da sym konkreten. Neka simpatqgata sys snimkite da razqsni poveche za opravata na grada.

Ами за кмета-не е никак добре,просто няма нужните качества,а и нещо е в конфликт с Герб.Общо взето нищо не е направил,просто допусна големите хранителни вериги (Техномаркет и Технополис също), да стъпят на видинския пазар (а старият им искаше големи рушвети-50 хил. само за да седнат да говорят) и това е.
Иначе да,града е доста по-симпатичен от много градове в България,но икономически е доста зле,също така обезлюдяването е сериозен проблем.

Ами моста е нещо в бъдещето,така че никой не го бръсне толкова много-знаеш че всеки се интересува какво е положението тук и сега.Още повече че тоя мост трябваше вече да е готов и повечето хора песимистично се изказват нещо от сорта на:"То тоя мост още колко ще се забави,докато стане готов..." и т.н.Още повече че мнението на хората за действието на моста варира-според някои ще е манна небесна,според други просто ще има повече проститутки и това е.
Иначе как кмета да не е цвета в сравнение с Видов-той наистина закопа града.

На табелата отсреща какво точно пише??? Вижда ми се като "Селска мъка" :nuts:

Видин изгледа добро, занимљиво је да имају бугарски градови сасвим велики део зграда из почетка 20. века, али доста ме занима да ли је Видин део региона Северозапад у Бугарској? Јер много незнам ту економску и регионалну поделу ваше државе. Хвала на одговору

Да, баш сам се чудио кад сам видео слике Видина како добро изгледа напротив томе да је овај регион најбеднији у целој ЕУ!
Али мање-више сви бугарски градови су занимљиви, негде се хвала богу запазила стара архитектура из отоманског периода, и то ради ваше градове занимљиве .. у Србији например нема много архитектуре овог типа
