I was looking at some pictures of this on another thread and this has to be one of the most impressive war memorials in the world. It's a classic design which is also very Indian as well and it will always be timeless.

Its Ok. nothing spectacular. Dont like it as much as the original which has incredible class. :)

I always thought it was too plain. Maybe a little more decoration would have made it look better.

well i think it india gate compliments the surroundings cause rastrapati bhawan and sansad bhwan are very simple from outside as well..and obviously it's much more indian.....

The reason the India Gate is more plain is that it is a memorial arch, not a triumphal arch like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It remembers all the Indian soldiers who laid their lives in the Afghan Wars and WWI. Their names are inscribed on the structure. Hence the flat surfaces and lack of too much decoration.
