@dayangdanayang...there is no better than to wait for Gensan be ripe on its own time and prime...sure like as the others did it will soar high but when the right one comes... yes we do not know when as yet but im sure it is near basing from developments going on right now on your beloved city....be patient and be humble my friend...

Cebu, Davao or any other city so to mention did not ripe their success overnite they too have their own share of frustrations and mind you even till now that notion is still there and like anyone else waited also the longest time before they harvested the fruits of their own labor but what is being good in there is that instead of never ending complaints they work hard at their own and look what happens now...in reality yes it is painful because of that notion of being left behind vis a vis neglected...but as we say never do it only by words but rather put that into action and from there well see...

have a Prosperous New Year!

My only sentiment in this thread which is more of a wish is that, the renovation must be completed and that they should improve that renovation, the terminal itself has a lot of potential to make it more aesthetically pleasing, not that the old structure is aweful looking, it just needed be upgraded and modernized. The walkway shed itself was left unfinished for so long, I hope the government officials would take notice on these because it is imperative that the terminal should serve an inviting atmosphere from visitors as well as investors both from local and foreign sectors.

wala akong sinabi na nag yield ng 50 ang GES-CEB-GES na flight (5J 249 and 250) ang nag yield dati ng 50 ay yung early flight ng GES-MNL na 5J 992.. Pero as of now, napupuno na din un. Di bumaba ng 160 ang three flights ng MNL-GES-MNL ngayong peak season.

I guess kahit 3x weekly muna MNL-GES-MNL ang zest air... try muna nila market nila... parang medyo saturated na ang market unless na mag pick-up pa ung pax loads ng current flights.... last week 5J 991 left MNL for GES with only around 49 pax out of 156pax and 5J 992 left GenSan for MNL with only 39 pax....

May mga times naman talagang ganito lang ang dami ng passengers. even the MNL-CEB im sure may mga ganito ring eksena at certain time within the year. :ohno:

Yang 2 flights na yan LONG OVERDUE na yan...dapat noon pa yan nila dinagdag in the early quarters of 2010. kung tutuusin, isang flight lang naman ang nadagdag eh. it is the airphil express kasi yung 5j 996 sa umaga ay dating nasa hapon yon...nilipat lang ng frequency dahil gapalak palak ang 5j sa presence ng 2p.

iba talaga ang volume ng demands when it come to the HOLIDAYS... mind you, these airlines DID NOT add frequencies to GES...ang resulta, didto tanan sa DVO naga sakay kag naga paranaog...daw airline man ang YBL...

Actually, the new routes would be a great break for DVO... All slots are always full of planes.. It needs to be decongested a bit. (kahit na yung isang sirang bridge ay may naka park na) Just today, ALL waiting areas in the Domestic wing were full of people. SRO na nga actually. Even the Mabuhay class lounge.

So, are you suggesting an expansion for DVO?

I strongly suggest a transfer of DVO to a wider, and safer area somewhere farther north in the middle of Davao region (which the airport generally serves), somewhere on that vast valley plain currently planted with bananas. Ideally between Tagum and Asuncion in Davao del Norte.

hmmm...tingkoling...ikaw ba yan? I just got another reason why hindi puwede doon... flooding of the area. usually the vast expanse of kapalong/asuncion is very wet esp. during jan-march and nov-dec. YOu also said it yourself.... it is a VALLEY!. The Kapalong/asuncion/panabo/dujali areas are very much conducive to Banana, And besides, The philippine Economy is also very much dependent on Banana exports... so why kill the goose that lays the golden egg? (I do hope you understand the analogy...) .....so..please lang...no debate tingkoling... I did not make any suggestion of DVO expansion. I also believe you do not know that during the war, the americans and Japanese saw the feasibility of both Matina and Sasa as the most suitable places to put their forward airbases there because simply it has the best general location in the Davao region.
i merely said it is Good for GES to have an ILO-GES flight now para maibsan ng konti ang DVO.... Ikaw lang naman ang kailangan magising sa katotohanan about transferring DVO to Asuncion is Highly not feasible....

Please.... Behave...tahimik na ang GES thread and I am just simply very happy that GES is also improving/getting back its historic flights namely CEB and ILO. DVO can survive even if these flights (GES-CEB, GES-ILO) are now doing its role in the development of REgion XII as a whole.

:okay:
More links pa sana for GES...Mindanao links naman sana like CGY and ZAM.

basta ako @cemby, I stand by my suggestion because that is what I see as the best for the entire Davao region. All the best lang, politics aside. Sa totoo lang talaga. Matina or Calinan area is not good for an airstrip because of the natural wind flow which is North-South and South-North and the presence of Mt. Apo. Mas maganda pa ang Samal Island para sa DVO...then put up a bridge to connect Mainland Mindanao to Samal island.

Huot jud kaayu...ang check-in, departure lounge og arrival hall. wala naman gani space for ticketing office ang Zest Air if ever they will come in..dapat gamiton na jud ang second floor para lang sa departure lounges (domestic and international). plus then, of course ang state-of-the-art jetbridges dapat naa. og dapat i-aircon na jud ang tibuok sulod sa terminal building including the arrival hall.

Perti jud ang paglapastangan sa GES from 2000 to this date. perti gid!!
starting from passenger movement (greatly affected due to high ticket prices kay wala daw may manakay...sabi?)
then as a result, low passenger movement!...then kay low passenger movement man, gitagan-an rag sentimos nga budget para sa renovation unya gi-usik usikan pa jud sa mga walay pulos nga mga gipangbutang nga anik anik :bash: :ohno:

More links pa sana for GES...Mindanao links naman sana like CGY and ZAM.

basta ako @cemby, I stand by my suggestion because that is what I see as the best for the entire Davao region. All the best lang, politics aside. Sa totoo lang talaga. Matina or Calinan area is not good for an airstrip because of the natural wind flow which is North-South and South-North and the presence of Mt. Apo. Mas maganda pa ang Samal Island para sa DVO...then put up a bridge to connect Mainland Mindanao to Samal island.

Please just mind GES na lang... matina used to have an airstrip but was long gone. (the runway traverses the current Acacia street actually and the apron was the back field of Ateneo de Davao) so please just mind GES na lang... BTW.. Davao airport or the SASA airfield was present way before world war II... Same goes with the Matina airfield. it was the staging area for attacks. kaya nga binomba ang Davao/sasa/matina airfield almost simultaneously with Manila because of the airfield present there. And right after the war, Sasa airfield (the current DVO int'l) became a commercial aviation airfield and was viable... Hindi nga kailangan magtapakan...hindi naman kasi talaga kailangan because historically, it is viable..no need to transfer yet.

Now, what would you feel if I say it is better to put GES in Koronadal? Your idea of transferring dVO to Asuncion is the same as the idea of transferring GES to Marbel... lol...

so my eternal suggestion to you is: Just be happy that GES is getting better, attracting more flights and passengers. Huwag mo nang sisihin if you feel that the GES growth is stunted because may katabing DVO... Matagal ng established ang DVO sa site nito even when GES ay nasa Buayan pa....

Yes, matagal na ang DVO sa location nito ngayon...but you have to consider that Davao City is getting bigger. You cannot really compromise the safety and improvement of the city just because ayaw nyong ilipat sa ibang lugar na mas ligtas ang airport.

Just think of what happened to HKIA. yun lang yon...a safer air traffic. dapat nga sa samal island yan ilipat...but since ang dami pang kailangang i-accomplish like the bridge...mas mabuti pang doon na lang sa norte ilipat when the time comes. at ngayon ay may mga indications nang kailangan na ng expansion kasi nga dumadami na ang flights.

There are no bus lines going to M'lang directly from Gensan. Vans are the only ones going directly there. If you like to take a bus, then better take a bus bound for Marbel, then to Tacurong. In Tacurong, there are buses bound for Davao and Cagayan de Oro (later is with Rural). However, Rural only has once or twice a day frequency while L300 vans ply regularly.

Tell manong drayber at multicab to drop u off at Bulaong Bus Terminal.

There is also an airport shuttle for downtown there. Ask them if they can let you be dropped off at Bulaong.

Question is, how profitable is it for them?
Yun ngang multicab na GSIA-Dadiangas di pa maimplement ng maayos, yun pa kayang bus? Lets have LTFRB allow multicabs to serve this underserved area before we make any bold moves on carrying bus lines at GSIA.

Bakit pa natin antayin ma-establish ang multicab route kung pwede naman nating pagsabayin i-establish ang BUS at Multicabs...

IMO, I still want to keep PUBs out of GSIA, except for airport shuttle service. Because not all of the passengers are bound for South Cotabato, some are in Sarangani, some in Gensan only, some beyond S.Cot such as SK, Cot and southern Davao del Sur. That is why, it is more efficient, practical and less costly for operations if we have a route devoted specifically for Dadiangas-Bulaong-GSIA route. Since flights are still not round the clock, passengers vary and not all of them will take public transport (naay mosugat sa ilaha or maghatod), malulugi ang operations ni bus operator.

Imagine, I'm paying my driver a whole day but he only got several passengers to pay for the expense I invested. Di pa makakaabot ng break-even.

Also, it is better to have a hub like Bulaong Terminal. It was these provincial terminals that make provincial cities more organised than the chronic issues of Manila (bus terminals everywhere).

:dunno: with how you see it, but that is your opinion.

For me the transport proposal is the most viable for the time being when GSIA is still gaining momentum.

with this proposal:
1. Multicabs for budget GenSan passengers (plying GSIA-Downtown-Bulaong v.v.)
2. Buses for South Cotabato passengers (will also stop over Polomolok and Tupi towns when traveling back from airport to marbel)
3. Taxis for GenSan and Sarangani passengers.

Koronadal will serve as a hub for land transport going to GSIA and v.v. for passengers coming from towns beyond South Cotabato or Marbel such as Tacurong, Surallah, Banga, T'boli, Lake Sebu and so on.

Hindi malulugi ang bus operator nyan ah. He will just have to coordinate constantly of the flight sechedules at GSIA so that he can set properly the travel time from Koronadal City to arrive in GSIA 2hours ahead of the flight schedules.

Notice that the nagkakasabay-sabay naman ang mga flight schedules ng mga airlines sa GES di ba? Like 5j and 2p, and 5j and PR... So i think hindi malulugi ang operator nito. Ma-iibsan pa ang mga kolorum na mga transport operators at wala nang reason ang mga taxi drivers na mag abuso sa pag charge.:bash::ohno:

Pilots do not contact Tambler tower kung nagpupush back na siya. They get clearance from Manila Tower. The Manila tower then gives the assigned flight level (altitude) and airway to the airlines departing, Whiskey 6 for planes bound for GES for instance.

After an hour, planes will contact Mactan Control for clearance sa descend then Mactan Control will relay it to GES. First contact from Mactan to Tambler Tower is approximately an hour before the ETA. First contact ng pilots sa Tambler Tower is usually mga 6:15AM or later, that's the time na iha-hand over na ng Mactan Tower ang control sa GES air traffic controllers.

I hope I made myself clear with this. Believe me, my uncle's an air traffic controller here in DVO. And that's how things work. :)

Bern as I have said previously, kung sadto ang mag air travel is only for the few who can afford but now indi na gid. Siling gani sang 5j di bala? "Everyone can fly." Bus travel schedule should coordinate with that of the flight schedules of the airlines para timing lang gid ang abot kag lakat with enough time para maka embark kag disembark.

Ang iban nga waay salakyan indi na lang ka hatod-sundo sang ila nga mga palangga kay bangud waay sang transport nga mag hatod sa ila direct sa airport. kon ma biyahe sila thru crossing makar dason ma taxi duman pa airport tam-an gid kamahal ang gastos. mayad gid nga may direct bus route na from south cotabato to GSIA. ang i-consider dira para sa route bern kay ang mga pasahero sang airplanes kag ang mga ga hatod-sundo. times two gid at the minimum ang kadamoon sang passengers sina nga route.

Madasig gid ROI sina Bern. Pabal-i lang bugos nga banwa sang sina nga route.

thanks for that clarification. By the way, the airport in GES should not be called "Tambler Airport" because it is baseless and misleading. The airport is situated in Brgy. Fatima and not in Brgy. Tambler. hence, should be "Fatima Tower" for the call.

Bern as I have said previously, kung sadto ang mag air travel is only for the few who can afford but now indi na gid. Siling gani sang 5j di bala? "Everyone can fly." Bus travel schedule should coordinate with that of the flight schedules of the airlines para timing lang gid ang abot kag lakat with enough time para maka embark kag disembark.

Ang iban nga waay salakyan indi na lang ka hatod-sundo sang ila nga mga palangga kay bangud waay sang transport nga mag hatod sa ila direct sa airport. kon ma biyahe sila thru crossing makar dason ma taxi duman pa airport tam-an gid kamahal ang gastos. mayad gid nga may direct bus route na from south cotabato to GSIA. ang i-consider dira para sa route bern kay ang mga pasahero sang airplanes kag ang mga ga hatod-sundo. times two gid at the minimum ang kadamoon sang passengers sina nga route.

Madasig gid ROI sina Bern. Pabal-i lang bugos nga banwa sang sina nga route.

So basically saying, would this be a "missionary route?"

As i have noticed during my travels, airplanes flying from MNL to GES always start to descend slowly upon reaching the landmass of Mindanao (just above CDO, Iligan or Ozamiz). Why will the plane have to ask for clearance from Mactan to descend when actually the aircraft is still at cruising altitude of about 30,000 ft when passing above Cebu or Negros? it certainly do not affect air traffic of MCIA down below.

I think at that distance from the airport pinaka optimal ang rate ng descend na comfortable..

From my observation, the descend starts usually 30 minutes before landing..and ganun din yung level flight from takeoff

Not with MNL-GES route I think. Ang sa MNL-GES na PAL flight napaka gradual ng descent nya. halos hindi dama sa loob ng cabin..starting from above northern mindanao dahan dahan ang descent nya from 30-34000 ft. by the time it reaches socsksargen nasa tamang altitude lang sya to maneuver for landing at GES. wo sites were identified and designated as subalternatives: Scheme VA. Apopong/Sinav;al; and Scheme VB, Tambler (the preferred alternative). (Barangay Tambler was split into two in March 1991, and the project site is now located in Barangay Fatima; this report will continue to use the Tambler designation for consistency with earlier reports and the associated Final Report.)"

Dalawa lang kasi ang radar control sa Pilipinas - Mactan-Cebu and Manila. That's why all planes that go to Mindanao as well as Visayas will contact Mactan control for it. Eh alangan naman sa Tambler Tower mag-aask ng clearance eh wala namang radar eh. Even here in Davao, they will always contact Mactan Control for it. Kahit palipad na ang eroplano, ililipat na ng Davao Departure ang control to Mactan-Cebu. In short relay of messages lang yan.

Pwera lang kung clearance na yan for final descent and approach procedures, that's the time when the pilots contact the tower ng kanilang destination.

Akshully it all depends lang sa traffic kung anong airway ang dadaanan ng mga eroplano. May instances wherein the plane from MNL-DVO will pass Bravo 473 airway (via CGY), minsan it will pass Whiskey 9 airway (via BXU) minsan Whiskey 8 (midway CGY and BXU).

Yep, flights to DVO descend over BXU. You can see contrails of aircraft making their descent. Usually pag clear skies, I can see A330s, A320s, etc. (I think the 747 passes through a different airway) through the day while sa night, I can hear the sound of turboprops and see their strobes blinking.

minsan nga dumadaan ang eroplano ng MNL-GES sa ibabaw ng Ozamiz or Dipolog and they start descending from there on. Never have I experienced the plane passing above BXU. Siguro ang mga eroplano na papuntang DVO doon dumadaan sa ibabaw ng BXU.

also, try to understand the difference between airport control, approach and
terminal control, and area control.

mactan has all three, each at different floors in the tower, and independent
of each other. control is passed from one control center to another depen-
ding on the A/C's location in their respective areas (distance from the center)
which means, from one floor to another. they have different sets of air

Airways management is like controlling highways in the skys under specific Air Route Traffic Controls. These ARTCs are already advised before hand by each airlines flight dispatch. The aircraft is just passed on from one ARTC to another. Pilots have to report their position as they enter and leave. Therefore, any unidentified aircraft or one deviated from the flight path abruptly without contact will trigger an alarm to controllers. Altitude and bearing is critical. Like what happened to that Greek airline that experienced fatal decompression leaving a single cabin attendant able to briefly seat on the cockpit since the pilots were all unconscious. Airforce jets were scrambled immediately to do a visual since the aircraft didn't make any contact( Greece has F-16s), the Philippines none.

Gutierrez, assistant director general Elmer Peña of the Flight Standard Inspectorate Service (FSIS) and one of his subordinates, Bienvenido Gonzales, to explain allegation of extortion last year from pilot license applicants from the Aviation Institute of General Santos (AIGS).

Notice the fare difference of MNL-DVO and MNL-GES?
Kahit mamasahe ka pa papuntang DVO at Php 255 (premiere class bus). sigh!!!..the convenience of more choices, frequency-wise (night flights in particular) is only there in DVO, while they are leaving GES with no flight schedule at late afternoon or evening. kahit isang flight lang sa gabi MNL-GES ay wala???...there you go...

:ohno: are they at it again???
see here (http://www.cebupacificair.com/flights-and-fares/year-rounds-fares.html) and here (http://www.airphilexpress.com/year-round-promo.php)

PAL, on the other hand, has the right fare for both their MNL-DVO and MNL-GES routes with the difference of only Php 100 compared to Php 300 from these LCC's.

see here (http://www.philippineairlines.com/home/home.jsp)

although PAL has only 1 daily flight to GES, at least they observe proper fare for both DVO and GES...the distance between two airports is only less than 200 km...why such a huge difference of fare from the LCC's???...:ohno::ohno::ohno: this is not right...

By the way, I hope PAL will mount additional daily frequency using A320 (night time preferable).

a bit of advice. instead of pouring out your frustrations here in this forum, why don't you take your "crusade" to the airlines you are questioning. that way you can get the 'answers" you are craving.

I just show it here for the whole world to know what I was clamoring about why GES has poor passenger statistics.
That these airlines, especially LCC's, do not give GES a well distributed flight frequency during the entire day (from morning til night time) and not to mention the price differences of fare between DVO and GES where you can save as mush as the amount it costs someone to travel comfortably by bus to DVO.

Sa ngayon, sufficient na ang flights from MNL to GES pero tinambak naman lahat ng schedule sa umaga...:ohno::ohno: this is definitely not right.

And when I say "sa ngayon", sa ngayong needs lang of the present time...of course demand will definitely grow from now on and airlines should pay close attention to these needs and demands...

How can all the airline companies offer more frequency when there is not enough market to justify it? What you see in the terminal as you walk around it does not represent the actual passenger statistics stated in the airport's official record. I suggest for you to pull a copy of that official record so you could gauge if your claim would co-incide with the GES official census.

There were additional flights added lately, but the thing is these airlines put all the flights in the morning time...they should spread it out evenly in the morning, afternoon and night time.

Same analogy, demands and market. A stat of clients inquiring and even purchasing tickets. My best guess is that, because of shipments, most especially Tuna fish shipments are usually sent out early in the morning. That is what the market calls for the number of frequencies added. It seems that freights are more profitable to them than commercial passengers itself. Perhaps, they experience more passengers during early morning hours than the rest of the day.

these airlines should not make "tuna excuses". sinong niloloko nila??..these tunas are shipped in frozen or canned state.

PAL alone suffices all the cargo needs for tuna shipments using their big birds A330/A340 or B747...these LCC's, on the other hand, are making alibis out of this "tuna shipment" in order to build up further another airport nearby. :ohno:

As you can see, the pricing is clustered with the market..GES is just isnt in the same league as Davao, Cagayan and Zamboanga in profitability hence they cannot offer the same competitive pricing for GES..Thats the hard truth..tunla

Dont tell me these airlines are at losing edge here in SOCCSKSARGEN?

What Im pointing out here is a well spread flight schedules and a correct fare to avoid passengers from this region to using DVO just because they don't have a choice.
--this exodus of passengers from GES to DVO is making the former's passengers stats poor! kung kaya tinawag na "Nakawan ng pasahero"...

They may not be losing..But GES just isnt as important a market to them as the other three Mindanao destinations kaya ganun.. deal with it
