TAMPA - The city has created an interactive online tool detailing Tampa's 106 neighborhoods organizations.

It includes a city map with information about each neighborhood, including contacts, meeting schedules, demographics, land use, and characteristics such as city council districts, flood zones and parks.

The tool, which can be found at http://www.tampagov.net/appl_neighborhoods/ is the result of more than 18 months of work by the city's community and neighborhood relations department, director Shannon Edge said.

Edge said it can be used by residents, real estate agents or out-of-towners looking to relocate. They can search by address, neighborhood or point and click on the map to learn about an area.

'This tool is for anyone and everyone,' she said. 'It is not tailored to one group of people.'

Edge said the project began after her department started fielding calls seeking information about neighborhoods.

'This tells them something about the neighborhood,' she said. 'It gives them a flavor of the neighborhood.'

Wofford Johnson, president of Tampa Homeowners, an Association of Neighborhoods, is impressed with the site.

'I think it's very good,' he said. 'It's got some good information on there, useful information.'
