I found a map of Bahrain. It looks like Bahrain will double it's size in the next 20 years? Could anybody explain what is this big island above Manama?

Also I have here a picture from the Chicago-based Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM) company and Muharraqi Studios (i.e. Bahrain 2030 National Planning Development Strategies) These pictures give us again a look in the future of Bahrain urban development. Could someone tell a bit more about the "new islands" you can see on the right? Apparently these will be connecting Muharraq with Budaiya?

I don't think the future map of Bahrain is for real or official, but the island to the north of Muharraq is Diyar Al Muharaq previously Two Seas which was scrapped. The islands to the right in Skidmore plan are the new Northern town islands which are currently being reclaimed .

This map was created in 2000. It was used during the court hearing on the Bahrain-Qatar dispute. This map wanted to show the "plans" of Bahrain in terms of future development. The reef Al Jarim was planned to be the location for Disney Land Bahrain.
