Heading south brings us into the hood known as Queens Village. It goes from Jamaica Ave to the Cross Island Pkwy between Francis Lewis Blvd, with the GCP, and the Nassau County line. This hood is mostly residential. When it was first settled in the early 1640's and was called Little Plains, which was mostly farmland. The name was later on changed to Brushville in the 1820's after Thomas until the 1860's when Alread M Wood bought the land and changed its name to Inglewood. In 1873, the Central RR had its tracks through here until it was stopped in 1879, epsicially when the present day station was built to continue to Hempstead. However, many confused the name with the town of Englewood in NJ, so the name was changed to Queens, and was then to Queens Village to avoid confusion with the borough itself. A number of WWII vetrans came to live here with their wives after serving the war. A number of blacks, Guyaneese, and Haitians became the residents of Queens Village as well as a number of West Indies. Although the Creedmor Living Museum is free and open to the public, you have to RSVP for an appointment. You can get here by taking the Hempstead Branch of the LIRR to the Queens Village Station. I used to live here too, on 210th place by Francis Lewis Blvd. This is a really nice middleclass neighborhood. Only problem with it is that its off the main transit lines, no subway connections.

I wouldn't say that Queens Village is that isoalted b/c the LIRR can go right to Penn Station, and here is the rest of Queens Village.
