Nice house that.

What's the difference between an apartment and a condominium?

gladisimo
July 10th, 2007, 05:34 PM
^^ I believe in NA condo is a term that means part of the property is individually owned and part is commonly owned. I think it's a subset of an apartment.

Anyway, I believe the proper term in HK is a flat?

I will take pictures, I live between four places right now, and I'm not sure i have a picture of my house back in NA

Not ugly, but not nice at all ... I don't like it very much ...

I dont think he does. The house looks good like that and the no landscaping helps show off the house. IF you have a suburban sprawl house than you need landscaping to be diffrent than your neighbors.

Yeah, a little bit. Right now I'm up to my ears in other stuff, but eventually it will happen. There won't be any large permanent plantings because I don't want a lot of maintenance, but I like flowers and do pretty well with them. I'll probably put in some traditional stuff that fits the period of the house, like hollyhocks, daisies, gladiolus -- maybe even some peonies. I'm mostly surrounded by fairly dense canopy, so the shade limits my options on much of the property.

300 sq m = just over 3000 sq ft.

^^ 300 sq m is about 3000 sq ft.

Since we're all giving away specifications...

We've adjoined two flats (one was 983 sq ft, the other was 1029 sq ft); so our 'reported' flat size is 2012 sq ft, although only 70% of that is actually useable (rest goes into amenities like lift, swimming pool, community space [Welcome to Hong Kong...]), so it's actually about 1400 sq ft.

It has 5 beds w/ 2 ensuite (one of which is maid's quarters, one is guest quarters, one is a computer room/library, two ensuite: one is mine, and master bedroom), and 3 full bathrooms. We also have two living rooms thanks to the weird shape of the building, one which we've turned into a sitting area for when guests come, and the other more for a TV sort of thing and one kitchen. Also, two balconies.

More images of the area ~

I used to live in the white building to the left, on the 10th floor ~ the podium is on the 3rd floor, so if you count up to the 10th floor you'll see purple/dark tinted windows. We used to live there pre-April 2006, for 5 years.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3346/0191qd8.jpg

Since then, we've moved - but only a couple of blocks to the right (west) of the previous picture, still in the same estate/area.
This is where I actually live, on the 6th (correction; it's 6th, not 5th) white and red building you see.

Cause I am not allowed to show a pic of it, it would violate the neighborhood privacy thing, I can only discribe it.

Its atleast 7,500sf and atleast 9,000sf if you include the finished basement
5 car garage
inground pool
4 stair cases going from the 1st and second floors
2 stair cases going from the basement and 1st floors
7 bedrooms
7.5 baths
9 driveway parking spaces
2 1st floor offices and 1 2nd floor office

There are more than 20 rooms that I know of, I am not allowed in a part of my house cause thats were my brother works.

Hard to say, it seems most of the US suburban homes seems to be made mostly of wood, while European homes are usually bricks.

I live in the row in the center, with roommates. The row is mixed rental and buy homes, and the prices are as high as € 250,000 or $ 390,000 for a house that's only 5 meters wide and 8 meters long with a small yard.

Your house in europe... with very good materials.... emmm... in Spain i think about 1.500.000 €, but the difference between yours and the possible european one is very big in qualities and a fantastic construction, of course not wood, also it depends if that house is near a big city or in the countryside

Wow that's small, my house sits on a block 12.5 metres wide and 32 metres deep (and this is small by suburban Australian standards).

It is a 3 bedroom house with one bathroom and a double garage, sorry i don't have a pic.

current value $240,000 (AUD) = $230,492.20 (USD)

My house was built in the early 1890's (see the little picture that is my avatar). It has six bedrooms, but has only 2 big bathrooms and one small bathroom. It is brick, with a mansard roof. There is a small garden in the back.

This is the building where I live. This is right in the heart of Chicago in what it's called the North Loop (a.k.a. the Theatre District).

I'm actually renting an apartment in this building until my condo, currently under construction in a different tower around the corner is ready to be occupied in the spring of '09.

I won't post pics of my home, which is a 2 bedroom flat in central London, just to tell you, prices in London are so high, most ppl can't afford to buy homes here, most need to move out of the area. I was lucky, my mom bought my abode in 1993 for 87 000 pounds, (I paid her all back) now same place is worth near 750 000 pounds or 1.5 million USD. And no I do not consider my self rich at all.

lol, that's a good one there............ it is very easy to post a nice looking home other than ours, since we are all anonymous in a way............we cannot prove them wrong, so we have to believe what they post.

On the other hand, yes some forumers do own a nice place......................cheers everybody.

Awe, I'm sorry.
prices in London are so high, most ppl can't afford to buy homes here, most need to move out of the area.
So the majority of the people in London can't afford to live there? Or ar you just talking about homes, not apartments and condos?

This is where I live in Rotterdam. The whole neighborhood was build in the 1920's - 1930's, and now it's undergoing a complete renovation.

My apartment is situated on the 1st floor and measures 55 square meters.
