1x323m (278m without spire), 57 floors (mixed use)
1x190m, 59 floors (residential)
1x184m, 56 floors (residential)
1x175m, 54 floors (residential)

On the morning of 9 July 2007, a grand foundation laying ceremony for Yantai Shimao No.1 The Harbour was held. City mayor Mr. Zhang Jiangting, deputy mayor Mr. Liu Shuqi and Shimao Property chairman Mr. Hui Wing Mau together laid earth at the centre of the site to inaugurate the foundation of the project.
Located at the Seafront Plaza in Yantai's city centre, Yantai Shimao No.1 The Harbour faces the national tax bureau building to the east, and connects with No. 2 Road to its south. The west side of the project is Jie Fang Road while its north faces the Main Road. With a total gross floor area of 277,000 square metres, the project comprises three commercial towers over 54, 56 and 59 floors respectively, and an integrated 57-floor tower. The integrated tower is 323 metres in height.
The planned project will be a landmark seashore architectural compound in Yantai and the Gaozhou Peninsula, amalgamating a super five star hotel, full sea view apartments and commercial office buildings. Adjacent to the Seafront Cultural Square, which is of significant importance to Yantai City, the project realign the skyline of the Yantai coast to become an international, coastal central business district which will be unique and ahead of its time.
Mr. Liu Shuqi, Deputy Mayor of Yantai, commented: "As Yantai is a waterfront city, the government has been carefully considering options for the construction of the waterfront scenic area. Since the new waterfront area has experienced rapid and remarkable economic growth, the Shimao project, as a landmark of the Yantai waterfront scenic area, would help invigorate the development of the new area and enhance the quality of construction within the district."
Mr. Hui Wing Mau, Chairman of Shimao Property said, "Through its world class development standards and creative planning and design as Yantai's landmark architectural complex, Yantai Shimao No.1 The Harbour epitomizes the vision for a brand new waterfront area. The outstanding example of an urban residence is set to become a brand new sightseeing spot as it revamps the image of the city. The Group believes that the project would significantly improve the quality of living of the coastal area, providing a perfect combination of shopping, commercial and entertainment services to local residents."

December 29th, 2008, 07:34 PM
Hi, I'm new here. This is my first post.
I'm wondering about this city so bad.

I've heard that there's only 1.60 million people staying in the urban area.
The number, for me, seems so small comparing to the expanding of the city.
There're too many high-rise building developing and planning to develop soon.
Some projects plan to build more than 30 builidngs! That means 1,000s units/project.
And chineses, if you know them, they do only big thing. They seem not interested in any small scale.

Does the city have enough demand to absorb those massive supply????
If not, why the local government seems to try too hard to facilitate and support all developers to do such giant projects.

Sorry, that my question seems to long.
However, there's another question, what's the main business or industry of the city?
Thank you so much so anyone who can help me answer these questions.
