Actually, its not just a single arena, its an entire sports complex for the capital city of Belarus. Cost is estimated between 150-200 million euros. The complex, once complete in 2008, with have a multifunctional sports arena with a capacity seating of 15.000 people, a speed-skating oval stadium for 3 thousand viewers and a cycle track with the stands seating 2 thousand people.

It's impressive.

Very nice, and seems reasonably priced. That arena could be NHL quality with a few thousand more seats and a few more suites.

Ускорение сроков сдачи объекта – не самоцель ради громкого эффекта, но еще и способ снизить затраты, построив его в максимально сжатый период времени. Поэтому впервые в отечественной практике возведение столь масштабного комплекса, состоящего из четырех самостоятельных сооружений – центральной арены вместимостью 15 тыс. зрителей, конькобежного стадиона на 3 тыс. и велодрома с трибунами для 2 тыс. зрителей, многоуровневой автостоянки на 1080 машиномест, ведется одновременно. Это потребовало концентрации усилий всех участников процесса: и проектировщиков, и рабочих, и технологов.

«Minsk-Arena» sets the record and helps to win the home team

Today in Minsk the 2nd round of the group round of VTB United League has started with the match «Minsk-2006» - «Honka». To the delight of almost ten (!) thousands of Belarusian fans a convincing victory gained the home team - 90:60.

The beginning of principal, according to the positions of teams in the fixture list in group A, was for Minsk’s team. Magnificent Minsk-arena, where unexampled number of spectators in Belarus never seen before, was very efficient on Minsk-2006-the Players of home team from the first minutes began to show their contenders from Espoo their tremendous mood on the game. Thanks to productive actions of Dzianis Korshuk and Aleh Kojenets (this couple gained 16 points out of 24team points for the first quarter) and Melvin Sanders the home team broken away from the contenders at once. And further didn’t allow doubting in their success….

Finnish «Honki» was able to make some effective actions only after the beginning of the second quarter. Thanks to productivity of the American legionaries in person of Corey Belser and John Williamson the Finns managed to reduce slightly a difference, but at the end of 10-minute Byelorussians began to play in a high-speed again, showing productive and aggressive basketball, going on the big break with a comfortable break of 17 points – 43:26

After the long break local players continued their effective series of attacks. Nothing went right in the game of Guests still. Mihailo Pavicevic team could do anything to protect against the aggressive attacks and accurate throws from behind. In the attacks most productive were three legionaries Belser-Williamson-Wilson (in total - 48 points out of 60 team points).

In the final quarter the situation on the court didn’t change. Belarusians confidently controlled the match completely excluding the possibility of the Finnish team to «comeback» 90:60 – «Minsk-2006» gained the first victory in the VTB United League. We will remind that 10 thousand of people came to see the match, a record audience for today on a tournament match!

- It is necessary to tell that «Minsk-2006» was very well prepared for the first home game at the new arena, - said the general director of VTB United League Andrey Shirokov. - Today on «Minsk-arena» there was about 10 thousand of fans who with might and main supported the team. So we have now a new record of visiting of matches of VTB United League! The Match with «Honka» for the Belarusian club can be called a rehearsal before receiving top teams of the League. And everybody is looking forward to see when CSKA, «Lietovus Rytas», UNICS will come. I think that the 18thousandth «Minsk-Arena» in these matches will be cram-ful. Nevertheless, today in Minsk was a real basketball celebration. In the stands there could be seen not only ordinary citizens but also the officials of various ranks. Everybody came to basketball games to support their team.

Minsk Arena is supposed to be also over 15k seater.
Let's count that out - 23 + 17 on sides and 5 on end stands. We can say it's 23 + approximately 11 rows = 34
