For all you Cubs fans out there, what do you think about Cuban bidding on the Cubs? What overall impact will he have on the future of the team if he buys one of the most historic ball clubs in the majors? I personally think that the Cubs need someone exactly like him to bring his enthusiasm and high energy personality to the Cubs. What are your thoughts?

I personally just want the most egomaniacal with the biggest pockets who is willing to spend and takes losing personally. Also someone who is intelligent enough to let the baseball people make the personnel moves and develop a farm system (something the Cubs haven't done very well in decades).
Also on the development side someone that would be interested in maybe buying and developing some of the lots around the park (Taco Bell/Car Wash anyone?) and build something descent to ever improve upon Wrigleyville that all would be a bonus.
Problem is that MLB is a bit of an old mens club that may not fly with the other owners who don't care for his style and can veto his purchase.

i always worry about out of town ownership.... would rather have a chicago group as owners. The Dallas Cubs. The Cubs are such a brand that they could be moved.

Cuban will not automatically bring a World Series to Wrigley. Owners can play a role but they can only do so much. Hell his Mavericks got beat by the Golden State Warriors this year, where was Mark Cuban then? What was he doing when that shit happened? Up in the stands with a dumb ass look on his face just like everybody else in Dallas.
I guess it would be interesting if he did take ownership but in the end, Cuban alone will not bring them any closer to a World Series. Having a healthy Kerry Wood who could pitch the way that he did around 1998-99 would do a lot more than having a "celebrity" owner.

hmmm interesting posts and responses. If Cuban would buy the Cubs, would there be the possibility that they would be moved to another city?

There is always a chance, even if it only .01%. I would put it as minuscule. The majority of owners would have to approve a move and there is not much reason to think they would for the heat they would take and another would be what market/situation would be better then Chicago? No other city needs another team, its the 3rd largest market, and they aren't going to bail for some new city like Portland or Vegas when its an easy 3 mill. pull in every year with the 2nd highest priced tickets in MLB.
The one thing that is still unlikely but could happen is if a greedy dumbshite owner wants the new skyboxes and amenities and all that crap that Wrigley can't afford them and they threaten to find a new stadium somewhere in the metro. Even that I see as very remote though. The Red Sox gave serious consideration to building a "new" Fenway in Boston though so it would be intresting to see what a new owner would have in terms of what he wants to do with the stadium or in the neighborhood.
I am assuming the sale would include the kitty corner lot next northwest of the stadium that the Tribune was going to develop and I wonder if a new owner would want to follow those plans or rehash and make some news ones for his own. It may seem like a small insignificant little sliver but I think potentially carries some real significance considering Wrigley is possiably the most visited location outside of downtown.
