Hello all. Our beloved Vietnam has gone through many ups and downs and many of them has been torturous and devastating, such as the long 1000 years of Chinese occupation (many indigenous relics and way of life were wiped out), the Mongolian and Ming Chinese invasions of 13th and 15th Century (destroyed citadels, buildings, temples, bronze works, literature etc), the Trinh-Nguyen feud and the Tay Son uprising (the Trinh lord's residence burnt for three days and three nights) and the French colonialism (Later Le dynasty's palace was used as an army barracks and to store explosives).

Nevertheless, I believe Vietnam still boasts many architectural treasures which are rarely seen by people who don't have the mean to see them with their own eyes. Let this be the thread to post pics of traditional architectural works of masterpiece created by our ancestors. Some examples include Hoi An, Tay Do citadel, Co Loa citadel, Hoa Lu, temples in Bac Ninh, Hue and elsewhere etc.

Please contribute.

Hoi An was mainly built by Chinese expats. And moreover i think there's already a thread bout this.

Well I'm sure there are plenty of things that were built by Vietnamese - bridges, towers, pagodas, citadels etc
