tanzirian July 20th, 2007, 04:31 AM Thanks for the pics. I would love some more info on where the various "Alps" photos are taken. Hope some time in my life to drive the Deutsche Alpenstrasse.
erbse July 23rd, 2007, 11:26 PM Wow, awesome! Thanks a lot Vic :)
I'm just lovin my home country more n' more on everyday  And I think latest since the last world cup here in 2006 also the remainder of the nation had been stuck on this inspiring wave! We're coming back to an earlier glory of the Wirtschaftswunder and the people seem to gettin friendlier and more optimistic with every new year - but that's no reason to be just too euphoric of course ;)

where do bombs in scotland come from?! Germans went up there so far to bomb scotland?!?! Or did they come from Norway?!
austrian July 26th, 2007, 08:24 PM very nice pics! thanks for sharing...
it's funny how many people think that everything which is really beautiful is somewhere else but not where they live ;-)
asif iqbal July 26th, 2007, 11:36 PM yeah, we constantly do !
where do bombs in scotland come from?! Germans went up there so far to bomb scotland?!?! Or did they come from Norway?!
actully Scotlands naval bases was a prime target for German bombers during WWII, Firth of Forth , East Lothian and the shipyards and heavy engineering factories in Glasgow and Clydeside played a key part in the war effort hence were a key target even a defence wall was built fearing a German invasion from Norway
also after bombing runs from Shetland islands Germans dropped spare excess bombs on East Coast routenly and every so often we find unexploded bombs! :)

Matthias Offodile November 4th, 2007, 10:44 PM Nice pics... but do these pictures also tell something about the vivid Neo-Nazi scences in Germany? About the dozens of Indians that nearly lost their lives in East Germany while no German (onlookers) saved these people from being literally slaughtered? About the steadily growing job insecurity in all parts of Germany, something which is holding back consumers tp spend their money freely? About the racist attacks that foreigners encounter on a daily basis in the streets and every day life? About the growing rate of unemployment and frustration among its citizens? About the rising living costs and stagnant or even falling wages? About the frequent strikes? About the daily struggle of the average middle-class German to make both ends meet? About the mothers that dump their babies out of the window because they are so damn frustrated? About the growing numbers of Germans that are looking for greener pastures elsewhere because they are so fed up with "immaculate" Germany for a variety of reasons that I don´t want to enlarge on in the context of this thread?
There is more to German than Siemens, Porsche, Autobahns and well-kept cities... the reality on the ground in Germany is far from being a fairy tale country!
Kame November 5th, 2007, 12:28 AM ^^ WTF?? We Germans have a really good life. Of course every country has its problems, but don't dramatize our problems so much. Go to a third-world-country if you wanna see REAL problems. And now back to the topic please...
Breslau November 5th, 2007, 09:50 PM VicFontaine, with Bodensee Lake you mean Lake Constance, right?
Actually it's more accurate to call it Bodensee. adding "lake" is redundant.

Today, the whole area of the german federal state of Hessen is covered with 38% wood. During Roman times it was surley more. The Romains complained that Germania doesn't offer much more than large woods. The clima was rough and cold during winther and it came close to a punishment to be stationed in germania. Maybe that was one reason why Auxiliaries from modern Hungary were stationed in Saalburg castell.

I like that. Giving nature some space back. But still way to much agriculture land in Germany. Thy should let forest grow there. Much nicer and cools the surrounding in summer.
Jan Del Castillo March 9th, 2010, 06:53 PM I liked the thread, many places very nice. Amazing indeed. Regards.
