I never heard about Székesfehérvár before, when I read old book about history of Bratislava.It was very famous and capital city in Hungaria.

In the Middle Ages the city was a royal residence and the most important city of Hungary. 37 kings and 39 queen consorts were crowned,15 rulers have been buried here, the diets were held and the crown jewels were kept here.

The last one in 1526, next 10 kings and 9 qeens were crowned in Bratislava and than in Budapatest.( I dont know how many).

No building exists from that age,only ruins. Everything is under the city centre.

True. Szolnok,IMO,is not meant for tourists,thats mainly a railroad hub.
Miskolc was a heavily industrial city,also not really meant for tourists...check Aggtelek,Miskolc-Tapolca,Lilafüred instead.
For Tokaj,blame the truck traffic. ~2000 trucks cross it daily,since the nearest Tisza bridge is either at Cigánd(southeast from Sátoraljaújhely),or at Polgár(M3),apart from the one in Tokaj.

What else than Sopron? But I dont know the area,I've never been there(:ohno: ). I think most of the tourists there will be hungarians. But I'd suggest listening to more people,both hungarians and foreigners on this forum,they might be more credible than me.

It was my first time in Keszthely, but I know, I will return, because the city is amazing, and very beautiful. Did you live there? If you buy a house there, lend it to me sometimes.

Well, if YES, then I advise you this route, near Budaors Airport. This is a real "truck-driver resting zone". A few weeks ago I rode my bike there and oh my holly Gee, couple of bi*ch-looking chix kept standing in the cold and windy air in short skirts and stuff. And not only a few, but a lot of them were waiting for customers there. They stood 100m from one another, I couldn't even count them, really! It was quite terrible to ride along that route... I had to spit a lot and almost vomitted :vomit: :nuts: :D Disgusting.

Here am I, back from a long, friday - tuesday, rural trip, and I bring you some photos of the second biggest hungarian city, Debrecen.

Part I of II

I’ve decided to show you the future route of the future new tramline(2),so the first half of this post deals with that. The second half will be random pics from other parts of the city.

This is where I start, on Doberdó street.

This is the most right turn of the future loop on the line (by most right I mean on the map I present, where light green is the route of this future tramline). The track will be coming from the road to the left, and will take a left turn, and will go along the road in front of.

Looking at the other direction on Böszörményi road. The M3 motorway has a junction on this road not far from here. (BTW, Böszörményi means “from Böszörmény”, and there is a city on this road called “Hajdúböszörmény”)

There are many university buildings along Böszörményi road, unfortunately, the new line will be passing along another road, but it will be close enough for the students to use it.

Where will the tracks be?

Here will be an other left turn, the trams will be coming from the left, and will be going along this road, until meeting the other track (well, it will be same, because in Debrecen they use loops instead of head stations for turning trams).

This area needs some investments too, and I think it will be the new line that will provide the necessary push for the investors.

Leaving the line alone bit, and going along Böszörményi road(to be honest, I didn’t know where the line will pass, and I thought it will come along Böszörményi road). These are the major reasons for the line’s route:

Debrecen is the second largest city? As far as I know, second largest city is Miskolc (250 000 hab), but I am not hungarian :) so you know it for sure better...
Btw: Haven´t been in Miskolc or Debrecen yet, but according to your photos both cities seems to be architectonically absolutely chaotic :)

Maybe there will be some place for ships, but it won't be IMO riverport like that in Komárno or Bratislava.

I' am from Szeged's twin town called Subotica which is located just near the Hungarian border in Serbia (Szabadka is the Hungarian name) and I go to Szeged very ofen. Thanks for the pictures! Though they could really have been a little bigger:) The city looks relatively nice here but my own experience tells me that Miskolc is BAAAD... (I have family there so I visit on a fairly regular basis). It is perhaps the only Hungarian city that looks worse than a decade or so ago. I always leave with in a depressed mood.

Well,I dont know Miskolc that well(actually,nothing beyond main road 3),as my relatives live in its agglomeration,but work in the city...Miskolc is indeed a strange city,change is not visible there,whereas its more visible even in Nyíregyháza or Szeged,and neither of those are rich either.

And sorry for the size, kep.tar.hu resided the 800x600 for some reasons...

I think Miskolc is a very depressing city, not so much because of its general cityscape (the midtown is just as nice as any Hungarian city) but the people. Sometimes I have the impression that only gypsies and lowlifes live in that city. The huge, gray commie areas and those foggy mountains just make it even more depressing - but Miskolc is the heavy metal capital of Hungary so perhaps it is meant to be this way:)
As for Nyíregyháza, I've never been there but I actually heard lots of good things and saw lots of nice pictures. Szeged, on the other hand, is really nice and I think it is a pretty wealthy city, of course not by Swiss but by local standards.

Miskolc needs urgent renovation and yes it is probably the most depressing large city in Hungary. As for Szeged compared to Győr, Sopron, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Szombathely I don't think it would be so wealthy at all. I think Szeged is just kept nice and clean.

A minap Nagymaroson jártam. Sajnos szinte semmi időm nem volt körbenézni/fotozni. De azért a vonat indulása elött mentem egy gyors kört.
