TKC Steel completes ladle furnace facility in Iligan
Monday, 30 Mar 2009
TKC Steel Corporation said that its wholly owned subsidiary Treasure Steelworks has completed commissioning a newly installed ladle furnace in its steel manufacturing facility in Iligan city. TKC Steel, in a disclosure to the stock exchange, said that the ladle furnace, the first in the Philippine steel industry, was an integral component of the company’s capacity expansion and capability enhancement program, which started in 2008.
TKC Steel said that "With a capacity of 60 tonnes, the ladle furnace will serve as the holding receptacle for the liquid steel produced in treasure steel’s melting furnace, thereby shortening production cycle time and effectively increasing manufacturing output by 30%. The improvements in quality and productivity would put Treasure Steelworks at par with the worldwide steel making practice."
Mr Anthony Dizon president of TKC Steel said that the ladle furnace was an important step in Treasure Steelwork’s overall business development strategy in anticipation of the activities to be generated by economic stimulus packages being implemented in the Philippines. He added that "The increased capacity will enable us to position ourselves strategically for the recovery push, and also provides us the opportunity to pursue available export market opportunities. Moreover, the improvements in our equipment and operating procedures will be the crucial links in the overall process at the time our blast furnace comes on stream in the near future."
Meanwhile, TKC Steel is preparing for a 5,000 tonne export shipment to Bangladesh by the end of March 2009. In 2008, it exported steel billets to the Middle East.

TONZI March 30th, 2009, 11:00 AM ^^ TKC is really showing their bullishness on the steel manufacturing sector. In comparison to Global Steel, they are on the right path. Global on the other hand is still having problems with its finances, debts and some other things unknown to the public. Some of us here speculate they are not really manufacturing steel in the plant but selling steel from their other plants in India.

have you been to cdo before? you seem to know that there is a caltex station, now owned by chevron, in front of the mall. actually, the owner of the caltex station is not Gaisano. i forgot the family name but i heard that he's not selling his lot/gas station to Gaisano because he knows the area is lucrative. that portion is very strategic for business thats why Gaisano needs it badly but unfortunately the owner has other things in mind
maskin kung ako tag-iya anang caltex gas station fronting gaisano dili nako ibaligya, gawas kung paliton sa gaisano ug 1billion pesos ako ibaligya nila :lol::lol::lol:

It's true iligan will be having it's new malls soon like what Iv'e seen in the rendering of UNI CITY yesterday, they are planning to built a UNI CITY MALL besides it's present location and i don't know if the UNITOP to rise in the BSP location will be considered as a mall.:)

dark_knight_detectve April 8th, 2009, 02:00 PM here's the latest news regarding CSP. they will start construction either by july or august but the manager insisted that they'll start by july. anytime soon they will start selling their condo units. they have the 40sqm and 60sqm condo units. according to the manager, their selling price is Php90,000 per square meter. meaning, the 40sqm condo unit will have a total selling price of 3.6M while the 60sqm will cost around 5.4M. they have requested for a license to sell from the HLURB and they recently have the approval of the DENR for the beach. she even added that the municipal mayor of gitagum has been very helpful in acquiring the necessary requirements. in layman's term, dayon gyud diay sila. ill upload the brochures they gave me in a short while.

It was rumored to be at/near the formerly KAIDECO Inc. property and the copra buyer at Tibanga. Though I deem it as a rumor but the rumored lot is at those places I mentioned.
Speaking of rumors, my mother told that a "trisikad" driver in Brgy. Villaverde told her that they (residents) in the area will be relocated. They said that a big lot of Brgy. Villaverde is already in the process of being sold to a developer. The driver just wasn't able to know what developer is going to buy that big lot at Brgy. Villavere but surely they said it's a big investor. I hope this one isn't just another rumor in the making.

Big lot owners at Villaverde were the Lasmarias family, at Tibanga. Do we have friends from this family wherein we can verfy this rumor. That's best place for commercial development of our beloved city.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Korean hotel and leisure firm I.F. Koresco Corp. will put up a $20-million casino-hotel in this city within the year that will generate at least 200 jobs.
The company has also started building its second 330-square meter condominium complex for Korean retirees and has been operating this city’s Hotel Koresco, which caters largely to Korean visitors.
I.F. Koresco Corp. Chairman Suk Koo Ko said they were awaiting the permit from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
He added that as soon as they receive the permit, they would build the 100-room casino-hotel. Mr. Suk said they would build the casino-hotel at the back of Hotel Koresco. It will have 70 deluxe rooms and 30 suite rooms.
.....................
Mr. Suk said only about 1,200 Koreans check in at the hotel yearly, but they expect more to come with the construction of the Laguindingan international airport. He said that the second condominium complex, which will be sold to Korean retirees, has started construction with a projected cost of $1.5 million. The first condominium that they built for $700,000 is now sold out.
"We have many investment plans here," said Mr. Suk, who plans to retire here. The company expects 20,000 Korean visitors when the new casino-hotel opens next year. "We would like to add at least 1% growth to the city’s economy." — Geefe P. Alba, BusinessWorld

Akala ko mga may-ari niyan Nadorra family diyan sa Villaverde. By the way, if tinuod ni, then signs to see is their relocation if there is.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—With a 1-percent rate of accomplishment every week, Laguindingan International Airport will breach the 50-percent completion rate before the year ends and will be 100-percent complete by the middle of next year.
“We are even ahead of the accelerated target,” Misamis Oriental Gov. Oscar Moreno said of the rate the P7.8-billion airport construction is going.
Moreno’s optimistic projection is matched by Engr. Della Capicenio, Laguindingan Airport Project Development (LAPD) project manager. She said the first international airport in Northern Mindanao would be completed way ahead of schedule since it is now more than one-third complete.
Capicenio said the airport is 29.51-percent complete as of March 15.
Because of the fast-paced construction accomplishment, the LAPD has revised its schedule. The airport is targeted to be completed on January 17, 2012.
By June, the airport’s access road will be completed, said Moreno.
He also s aid the runway and taxiway of the flagship project of President Arroyo under the Mindanao Super Regions Program “are nearly complete.”
“In fact, we are way ahead of our target,” he said. “Both the runway and taxiway are scheduled to be completed by next year and the access road by June.”
Moreno said that based on the completion rate of the project, the case pending before the Court of Appeals regarding the remaining contested areas covered by the airport project has not really affected its construction.
The threat of the tribal war by an indigenous people’s group affected by the airport project has not deterred Korean contractor Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Corp. from going full steam.
The airport project is funded by a loan from the South Korean government under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) totaling $106.73 million.
The loan is payable in 20 years, with a grace period of 10 years. Repayment of the loan, to be shouldered by the national government, will start in 2010.
The Philippine government’s counterpart totaled $60.36 million.

Officials at Laguindingan Airport, the first international airport for Northern Mindanao, the Philippines, expect to see the construction reach 50 percent completion by the end of 2009.They predict construction will be complete by mid-2010. “We are even ahead of the accelerated target,” Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno said. The new airport has an estimated cost of US$167 million.
Moreno’s optimistic projection is matched by project manager Della Capicenio. She said that the first international airport in Northern Mindanao would be completed way ahead of schedule since it is now more than one-third complete. The airport is targeted to be fully completed on January 17, 2012.
Moreno said that based on the completion rate of the project, the case pending before the Court of Appeals regarding the remaining contested areas covered by the airport project has not really affected its construction. The threat of the tribal war by an indigenous people’s group affected by the airport project has not deterred Korean contractor Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction from full-time construction.
The airport project is funded by a loan from the South Korean government under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund totalling US$106.73 million, with the remainder of funds coming from the Philippine government.

Musta na ang London??? I miss London so much!!!

CdeO's market is already ripe, not only to Ayala. That was what the Ayala brothers told VYE when he was personally invited in their home. Ayala subdivision is already in the city. Ayala mall is not exempted also. :)
dark_knight_detectve April 21st, 2009, 02:50 PM Misor airport half done before year-end (http://www.goldstardailynews.com/content.php?id=2694)
April 18-19, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WITH a one-percent rate of accomplishment every week, the Laguindingan airport project would be half finished before the year ends.
Misamis Oriental Gov. Oscar Moreno said at the rate the airport construction is going, the P7.8-billion airport would be completed by the end of 2010.
“We are even ahead of the accelerated target,” he said.
Engr. Della Capicenio, Laguindingan Airport Project Development project manager, said the new airport in northern Mindanao would be completed way ahead of schedule since it is now more than one-third finished.
Capicenio said the airport was 29.51-percent finished as of March 15.
Because of the fast-paced construction accomplishment, the LAPD has revised the schedule.
The Laguindingan airport is targeted to be completed on Jan. 17, 2012.
By June, the airport’s access road would be completed, said Moreno.
Moreno also said the runway and taxiway of the flagship project of President Arroyo under the Mindanao Super Regions Program “are nearly complete.”
“In fact, we are way ahead of our target,” he said. Both the runway and taxiway are scheduled to be completed by next year and the access road by June.
Moreno said that based on the completion rate of the project, the case pending before the Court of Appeals regarding the remaining contested areas covered by the airport project has not really affected its construction.
The threat of the ‘‘tribal war’’ by an indigenous people’s group affected by the airport project has not even deterred the Korean contractor, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Corp., in going full steam to complete the project way ahead of schedule.
The Laguindingan airport project is funded through a loan from the South Korean government under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) totaling US$106.73 million.
The loan is payable in 20 years, with a grace period of 10 years. Repayment of the loan, to be shouldered by the national government, would start in 2010.
The Philippine government’s counterpart totaled US$60.36 million.

Farirah April 26th, 2009, 04:01 PM ASENSO NA TALGA CDO... I LIKE THE CITY EXCEPT THE NARROW CITY ROAD...
It's like ganito din somehow ang situation in CdeO's old district, which is Divisoria and Gaerlan-Capistrano-Burgos area. Spanish time pa kasi yun, kaya masikip talaga ang daan. Not only thus district that I mention, but I can say in the City Proper and even its suburban areas.
The past administrations had lack of vision, except Emmanuel Pelaez and Justiano Borja. Past mayors never expected that the CdeO would be like today. So yun nakaproblema si Vice Ganda sa pag-upo niya. Because the city is peaceful and geographically located in this island, waves of settlers have come in, transport vehicles from many cities and provinces in Mindanao have their stopover here or they just pass by, agricultural products from the largest food basket province in the whole country, Bukidnon are shipped in CdeO's port to Visayas and Luzon, while small and big investments from local and foreign investors are coming in also. Anyway, thanks a lot to Vice Ganda's vision for building new bridges and wide additional roads. Thus helping the traffic situation in the city.
But for me, CdeO needs more bridges and more farm to market roads. I hope matuloy yung JR Borja and yung Balulang-Taguanao bridges in Vice Ganda's reign again. ^^
michael_ray April 26th, 2009, 04:18 PM ASENSO NA TALGA CDO... I LIKE THE CITY EXCEPT THE NARROW CITY ROAD... MASYADO MASIKIP EXCEPT SA NATIONAL HIGHWAY...
Previous leaders did not foresee that CdeO would turn out to be what it is today... Or maybe they had no vision for the city. During former Mayor Emano's time, he addressed the problem by putting up diversion roads and bridges. Fortunately, these roads and bridges have been serving their purpose of being alternate routes and have somehow helped improve CdeO's traffic condition.
Farirah April 26th, 2009, 04:21 PM Previous leaders did not foresee that CdeO would turn out to be what it is today... Or maybe they had no vision for the city.
No vision I can say. They didn't take the advantage of the city's strategic location in this island. ^^

drazen001 April 26th, 2009, 05:47 PM yeah agree... petronas tower is only 88 storeys yet it is taller than the 110
storey high empire state building becoz of the tower.
i am happy for cdo getting its hi-rise soon, i hope it would be realized soon (i mean this year or next year the most) be it 18 storeys or higher. that's one indication that mindanao is catching up with the rest of the islands.
with regards to marco polo...we all know that it is advertised as an 18 storey hotel (i dunno, maybe based on elevator buttons), but in reality it is about 21 storey high as supported in the actual picture below. landco center in bajada is 17 storeys high but if you look at these two buildings from samal island, you could clearly see MP is taller than landco by 5 to 6 storeys. based on occular inspection i'd say MP has 11 ft floor to ceiling height. so MP is roughly 231 ft or 72 meters in height. for the proposed 18 storey building in CDO, it should have a floor to ceiling height of 12.8 ft to stand taller than MP or maybe put up a tower just like the petronas.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/mp-1.jpg
it seems that marco polo is a 22 storey building because it will never put a
13th floor on to it as all the building owners will never do also...
after 12 is 14...and i guess you all know what i mean...

By Cong B. Corrales
MALACAÑANG is confident that Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Corp. Inc. would return and continue its shipyard project in Villanueva, a palace official said.
Acting Executive Secretary Cerge Remonde, who also serves as press secretary, said the National Government remains positive that the US$2-billion Hanjin shipyard project would continue.
Remonde is optimistic that it will continue their project in Villanueva as Hanjin’s president Jeong Sup Shim, recently called him.
Although he could not give the details of their discussion, Remonde said Jeong committed that the shipyard project is still part of their expansion program in Northern Mindanao.
Remonde was in town over the weekend to keynote and induct the newly elected officers of the Cagayan de Oro Press Club.
Remonde said like other international corporations, Hanjin is also affected by the global financial crunch.
"Ang nakalangan lang sa ilang pagbalik mao ang recession. Whether we like it or not, affected gyud ang tanan sa recession. Siyempre mi-kanaog pud ang orders for new ships," he explained.
He said Hanjin’s return to Cagayan de Oro has been delayed by the recession and the fact that orders for new ships have also gone down.
But when this international economic crisis would ease, Remonde said, Hanjin would "definitely come back" to finish its shipyard project in the region.
When asked on a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest confidence that Hanjin would return to the region, Remonde replied "nine."
Project setbacks
The project has been shelved following a couple of local and an international setbacks ranging from the complaints raised by farmer groups living near the project site to acquisition of land for the project and lately, the global recession.
Farmers from Barangays Balacanas and Tambobong, organized by the militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) had protested the project saying they would not allow the Korean corporation to uproot them from the land they till.
Tension in the area mounted when security guards of Philippine Veterans Industrial Development Corporation (Phividec) uprooted farmers' planted crops in the 441-hectare land of Hanjin shipyard in October last year.
Phividec had paid the farmers to vacate the land where Hanjin shipyard would have been constructed early this year, but some of them complained they did not receive their payment.
Also delaying the project was the problem on the acquisition of the 500-hectare property where the shipyard would be built which has resulted to an internal row with the Jacinto Group of Companies, the current owner of the property.
In 1995, Jacinto Group of Companies bought the land straddling two barangays of Villanueva from Phividec. They planned to put up a steel mill in the area and had already paid Phividec P100 million for the site.
The planned steel mill did not push through and when the South Korean firm eyed the area for its shipyard project, Phividec moved to buy back the land from the Jacinto Group of Companies for the same amount.
Phividec and the Jacinto Group of Companies reportedly could not agree on the buyback amount.
Hanjin also had problems with its alleged non-compliance with building and environmental permits.
This became complicated when Tagoloan Town Mayor Paulino Emano claimed that Hanjin had allegedly tried to bribe him P400 million worth of contract projects.
Emano had ordered the stoppage of Hanjin's clearing operations in the area over permit problems but repealed the order not long after, claiming he was "scolded" by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo about it.
Biggest in the Country
Had it not been for the obstacles, by 2012, Hanjin would have begun exporting US$1.7 billion worth of shipbuilding parts and vessels.
The proposed shipyard in Villanueva is reportedly bigger than the one also proposed by Hanjin in Subic freeport.
It would generate employment for some 30,000 engineers, welders, steel fabricators and administrative personnel.
Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Corporation is the same company which won the bidding for the construction of the P7-billion Laguindingan international airport in eastern part of Misamis Oriental.
this is wonderful news indeed

Mind you this project, once finished, aims to manufacture heavy equipments which is one of the signs of an economy going highly industrialized so this is a very, very, big thing not just for Cagayan de Oro but to the whole Philippines.
So sana maayos na nila ang mga balakid sa project na ito. I hope everyone cooperates.

Tipid kasi ang space tapos steep masyado ang daan when you transfer from one level to another.

Construction of the legislative building complex beside the city hall has finally started. The project which had its groundbreaking last year together with local government officials from Tainan City in Taiwan, has been idle for several months after the groundbreaking. The flood incidents in January this year also affected the construction schedule.
The legislative building will house the offices of the city vice mayor, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) and the SP employees.
A one-hectare open space will be set aside in front of the legislative building to be used for commercial purposes where the city government is expected to earn millions in pesos.
The development of the vacant lot near the city hall compound will not only be purely expenses on the part of the city government but will ultimately be a new source of income for the city, according to earlier press releases.
Aside from the construction of the legislative building, the city government will also pursue the development of the Cagayan de Oro River Boulevard or the “Golden Mile” which will initially span an area from the Burgos-Chaves to Burgos-Cruz Taal streets.
