here:
i never imagine that Lumbia Airport will now accomodate international flights. come to think of it, she's too small and Laguindingan isnt finished yet
International flights are already starting in cdeo even without an international airport. unsa nalang kaha kung mahuman ang Laguindingan?

hi deevex... the topic international flights is relevant to this thread... remember cdo is building an international convention center... I believe international delegates are just as interested as the local ones to know how to reach your city, that is by air ...

i must say it relevant, just dont be so myopic-minded..In a discussion about an INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER, all aspects must be considered, one is accessibility of the city from an international perspective..

dark_knight_detectve September 22nd, 2009, 02:13 PM DOTC revives the P7.8-B world-class Misamis airport (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=0&nid=6&rid=230959)

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) recently revived a plan to construct a P7.8 billion world-class airport at Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.
The Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) should have been completed in 2002, but was shelved due to lack of funds.
DOTC Secretary Leandro R. Mendoza, said “We are now working on the construction of the LIA. We have funds to start the work.”
”We have to establish an airport in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental to meet the increasing air transportation demands and accommodated unhampered operations and unlimited development in the region,” said Mendoza.
The LIA is funded with a loan secured by the Philippine government and the government of Korea.
These are the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) US$ 22.40 million (original loan); EDCF, US$ 8.2 million (supplemental); Export Credit, US$ 62.75 million; Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), US$ 13.38 million; and the government of the Philippines, US$ 60.36 million or a total of US$ 167.09 (P7.853 billion).
The loan is payable in 20 years, with a grace period of 10 years. The repayment will start in 2010 and will be shouldered by the national government.
The airport, which is set to be completed in 2011, is a flagship project of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo under the Mindanao Super Region Program.
Mendoza, said the construction of the airport is now in high gear with the establishments of consultants and contractors’ facilities, mobilization of contractor’s resources equipment and site clearing.
The acquisition of the affected properties for the access roads is now 100 percent and is being undertaken by the provincial government.
The main civil work of the airport which started January 2008, is now 38 percent complete.
Air navigation and support facilities will be bidded out this year.
LIA is set for construction in a 200-hectare land outside the Cagayan de Oro City. It will have a 2.5 kilometer runway that could accommodate Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
It will also compliment the planned 82.5 kilometer Phase I of the Mindanao Railway Systems that will serve the transportation needs of the Iligan-Cagayan de Oro Industrial Corridor.
The LIA is seen as a key element in the government’s plan to put up “priority” airport to spur tourism and trade in the country. (PNA)

as for now this convention center isnt ready yet. sen. pimentel abandoned this project sometime ago. it was only recently that cong. rodriguez continued this said project because it was already obvious that there is a demand for an international convention. the people in CdeO didnt expect the influx of visitors since almost every weekend there are conventions being held here. moreover, the local officials and local businessmen didnt expect the demand of hotel rooms in the city. dont worry, when the laguindingan airport is ready, there is a propensity that this project will also be completed.

Nice update. Can we have more of this? This is what I want, much better than posts na GINAtry gyud ug tackle that doesn't sound int'resting naman.... :)
dark_knight_detectve September 22nd, 2009, 02:32 PM i must say it relevant, just dont be so myopic-minded..In a discussion about an INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER, all aspects must be considered, one is accessibility of the city from an international perspective..
this is called an international convention center because the capacity it holds is beyond the usual and ordinary convention center. i think it was already in the plan of the designer(s) that since an international airport will be built, the design(s) might as well plan a more bigger convention center. in short, this is a long term plan.
as for the location of cdo, she is known to be the most strategic city in mindanao. if your from zamboanga sibugay going to butuan by land, it is more convenient to pass by cdo rather than go to davao and then to butuan. it saves time and money. you could take the plane from zambo city to davao but not everyone can afford it or you have wait for a couple of months for cebu pacific to offer a promo flight. what if youre in a hurry?
if your in dumingag zambo sur and you want to go to surigao, it is a lot more convenient if you go to cdo first then to surigao rather than go to davao and then so surigiao city. the distance is longer if you choose the later. again, another instance would be to start from pagadian and then go to davao. you could take the tukuran route then pass by Sultan Naga Dimaporo and then later on pass by lanao sur. after you pass the SND area, there are already MILF check point(s). this area is already a critical area and even rural buses dont pass here. aside from the MILF check point(s), the people there tend to dry their agri products or place their farm animals by the road. you have to be very careful not to step on their agri products otherwise you'll be paying seven to twenty times than the normal price. assuming you hit and killed a goat of theirs. expect that you'll be paying 7000 pesos above and yet the regular price of a single goat is 1000 pesos. as for their agri products, dont ever step on them otherwise they'll shot you car or kill you literally. you can always pass the short cut road from pagadian to davao via tukuran but expect everything i just said. if by any chance you want to have a more safer travel, try the pagadian to cdeo to bukidnon route. its longer and more expensive but one things for sure you wont pass by any critical areas or see a single MILF checkpoint.
if you want to ask that you start from surigao city or butuan and want to go to kapatagan lanao norte, i can assure you its more safer and less expensive if you take surigao-cdo-iligan-kapatagan rather than surigao-davao-cotabato-kapatagan or surigao-davao-cdo-iligan-kapatagan route. if you dont trust me, kindly look at the map. if youre in surigao and wants to go to davao, there is already a short cut road. mao lagi pod, surigao and butuan ra ang nakapabor. gawas ana, kinahanglan moagi na gyud sa cdo. in short, cdo and normin are most strategic places in mindanao with cdo being the capital.

Posted on August 14, 2009 by damarre
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5862.jpg
Passed by Julio Pacana Street this noon and it seems the supposed expansion of Gaisano City-Mall will have 5 floors. There were only few workers seen working on the steel columns on the 5th floor as most of the workforce are having a lunch break.
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5856.jpg
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5857.jpg?w=468&h=353
As you can see, the shape of the building is like an “L”, owing to the fact that Gaisano failed to purchase the surrounding lots adjoining it. A very narrow facade along Julio Pacana St. is countered with a wide expanse at the back near Gaisano City.
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5858.jpg?w=468&h=353
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5859.jpg?w=468&h=353
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5860.jpg?w=468&h=353
http://cagayandeorodev.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/100_5861.jpg?w=468&h=353
Still, it’s not clear when will this structure be connected to the main mall building. The ground floor has a very high ceiling perhaps to accommodate entry of delivery trucks (initial rumor is that it’s a Gaisano warehouse). Some say the upper floors will be a budget hotel (because of the high demand for rooms). Construction work is 24 hours as I could see them working even at night.
this is a huge construction.... Congrats and looking forward on this project...:cheers::cheers:

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) on Wednesday said it has resumed the construction of the P7.8-billion international airport at Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.
The Laguindingan International Airport (LIA), earlier scheduled for completion in 2002, was shelved due to lack of funds, but Transportation and Communications
Secretary Leandro Mendoza disclosed on Wednesday that “we are now working on the construction of the LIA. We have funds to start the work.”
The LIA project, envisioned to spur trade and tourism development in the region, is funded by a loan grant by the Korean government amounting to P7.853 billion.
The loan is payable in 20 years, with a grace period of 10 years. The repayment will start next year and will be shouldered by the national government, Mendoza said.
Mendoza underscored the importance of coming up with another world-class airport, especially with the country trying to regain a Category 1 safety status from the United States’ Federal Aviation Authority (FAA).
The country is currently rated at Category 2.
The LIA, which is being constructed in a 200-hectare land at the outskirts of Cagayan de Oro City, is targeted to be completed in 2011. It will have a 2.5 kilometer runway that can accommodate the biggest aircrafts.
The main civil work of the airport is now 38 percent complete, with the construction of consultants and contractors’ facilities, mobilization of contractor’s resource equipment and site clearing, Mendoza said, adding that the provincial government undertook the negotiations for affected properties for the access roads.

Civil works of the P7.8 billion Laguindingan Airport Development Project (LADP) is expected to attain 65-percent compliance by yearend, two months ahead of schedule, Gov. Oscar Moreno of Misamis Oriental said on Thursday.
“In March next year, the runway shall have been completed so that the presidential plane would be the first aircraft to have landed on it”, Moreno said in gist during meeting of members of the Regional Development Council two days ago.
To date, the 4.3-kilometer access road has already been completed, relocation of affected residents already in placed, while the construction of the passenger terminal and taxi-way are on underway, Moreno added.
He admitted though that prior to the ocular visit of Presidential Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to the airport site in January 2006 he was cynical of the project since there were several ground-breaking rites in the past yet it had not taken off.
“It’s her (Arroyo) baby…she must be credited for this airport project. It’s a dream come true for her,” Moreno said.
As a tribute, the president’s presidential plane should be the first to land on the airport, he said.
The regional development council is a regional policy making body composed of local chief executives, heads of regional line agencies, and representatives of the private sector and civil society groups.
Last Thursday meeting was the 83rd full meeting for RDC members presided over by Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, RDC’s chairperson. The meeting was hosted by Department of Transportation and Communication’s presidential management office.

Maayo pa tong tindahan nmo @cyber kay bisan wala na ka didto, muhatag gyud sila og discount nako. Nakaila na man gud sila nako nga sige ko og palit didto sa imo store. Regarding aning HP brands og Compaq, medyo makita gyud nako ang price difference nga murag P3,500 to P 6,000.00 gikan EMCOR compared with those in CdeO. Samot na sa Cebu murag almost 50% siguro. Unya beh, inig utang pa gyud, mao nang mahimong almost double gikan sa original price.

ALI's first premier land development in Mindanao to be launched in Cagayan de Oro
By Mike Baños
Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) will launch its first Ayala Land Premiere (ALP) development in Mindanao on June 9, signaling ALI’s entry into the southern Philippines real estate market.
Dubbed Alegria Hills, the 53 hectare (ha.) high end residential subdivision lies 240 meters above sea level and approximately eight kilometers from the city proper. It is the first phase of a master planned 200 hectare property that straddles barangays Indahag, Macasandig and Camaman-an.
“It usually takes ALI two years from a project’s inception to fully develop it but we shall already be selling the first 95 lots before the year ends,” Tetta Baad, Vismin marketing and sales head, told media in a press conference following the blessing of its office at Limketkai Center Friday, May 18, 2007.
Although ALI officials did not divulge the opening price for the first 96 lots with an average size of 440 square meters, Ms. Baad assured it would be well within the means of their target market.
The project is a joint undertaking of ALI and joint development partners Manny Boniao and Ricardo Murillo. Started by the Boniao couple as a land banking project in 1993, they were joined by Mr. Murillo 20 years ago when he also became convinced of the development potential of the property.
“We chose ALI as our partner since it had the experience, track record and professionalism in the real estate industry,” Mr. Murillo said.
“Mayor Emano approached the Zobel brothers to have the project expedited,” said Ver dela Cerna, Vismin corporate communications and property management head.
Mr. Boniao cited the city government’s South Diversion Road and Emmanuel Pelaez bridge as concrete evidence of the city government’s all-out support for the project.
“Although this initiative was already in the drawing boards of previous administrations, it was Mayor Emano who actually implemented it as a strong show of support for investors,”Mr. Boniao said.
Mr. dela Cerna also clarified that the project is not getting any perks or incentives from the city government and insisted it go through the regular process of acquiring its PALC and development permits, having no desire to stir up any controversies like the brouhaha over the Huluga settlement.
“We have no technical proof there any archeological sites or artifacts within the property but we are willing to submit ourselves to any group which could prove this to us otherwise,” Mr. Ver said.
Toti de Guzman, project consultant, Marcos de Guzman Architectural Network, described Alegria Hills as inspired by “Organic Tropical Architecture.”
“The community of Alegria Hills shall blend with the philosophy of architecture that promotes harmony between human territory and the natural world through thematic designs that seek to be part of the unified whole,” Mr. de Guzman said, adding that the designs drew inspiration from the late American architecture Frank Lloyd Wright.
Other ALP projects include Ayala Alabang, Dasmarinas Village, Forbes Park Makati, Ayala Westgrove Heights, Ayala Greenfield Estates, Amara, Ayala North Point, The Residences at Greenbelt, One Serendra and Anvaya Cove.

By the end of this year, civil works of the Laguindingan Airport Development Project (LADP) shall have reached 65-percent accomplishment which is more than two months ahead of schedule. And, by March next year, the runway shall have been completed so that the presidential plane would be the first aircraft to have landed on it. These, in gist, were the work targets that Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar S. Moreno set during the Regional Development Council’s meeting yesterday (September 24) for the P7.8- billion LADP in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental which the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Project Management Office (PMO) must pursue.
“Today, the accomplishment is more than 50 percent. By year-end, it will be 65 percent with more than 12 weeks to go, at one-percent per week,” Moreno pointed out in his welcome message and updates on the airport project. To date, the 4.3-kilometer access road has already been completed, relocation of affected residents already in placed, while the construction of the passenger terminal and taxi-way are on underway.
He admitted though that prior to the ocular visit of Presidential Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to the airport site in January 2006 he was cynical of the project since there were several ground-breaking rites in the past yet it had not taken off.
“It’s her baby…the President must be credited for this airport project. It’s a dream come true for her,” said the former two-time congressman who is now serving his second term as Misamis Oriental’s chief executive. “She must be the first, in her presidential plane, to have landed here,” Governor Moreno told the RDC members.
Presided over by Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, the chairperson of the regional policy-making body which is composed of local chief executives, heads of regional line agencies, and representatives of the private sector and civil society groups, the RDC’s 83rd full council meeting at the LADP site was hosted by the DOTC-PMO of the LADP under the leadership of Engr. Delia P. Capicenio. MISAMIS ORIENTAL PROVINCIAL PRESS OFFICE

_____________________________________________________________
Murag kahinanglan gyud mag re-innovate atong ciudad para mas vibrant ang business climate diri. I hope our city officials will find ways to redirect traffic and other major changes para ma-enhance pud ang business and commerce sa ato kay ours is becoming too obsolete na kaayo and nagka-redundant ang uban negosyo. Nahulog na lang nga magpatay ang uban kay tungod concentrated kaayo sa usa lang ka lugar ang mga negosyo.
One thing too, reinforce our city with police and then create a special force that would make "ronda" at night.
I'm seeing this in a very disappointing manner coz authorities baya sila then gikataw-an lang aning mga gahi og ulo nga dili mo tuman og balaod. WE NEED TO SHOW THEM THAT OUR LAW IS WORKING!!! SUMO KAAYO TAN-AWON NING NANAGHAN NA ANG GAHI OG ULO SA KADALANAN NGA PURO SARILI LANG ANG GIHUNA-HUNA. THOUGH DILI PUD NATO SILA MA BLAME TUNGOD SA KOTONG CSUs PUD NOON.
BUT EITHER WAY, I WANT TO SEE AS A START, THAT LAW IS ACTUALLY MIGHTIER THAN ANYBODY!
So please lang, Mayor Cruz, paki-gahi gahia pud imong mga kamot kay wala na'y maayo nga model nga makita ang mga katawhan nga DUNA PA DIAY BALAOD sa atong KATILINGBAN.

TONZI October 8th, 2009, 05:25 PM ^^ mao ba. Kaluoy pud sa Zen Zest . Naa man pud gud imported colognes and perfumes sa Savers mao nang dili kaayo sila mapansin. One thing too is the stall location nga dili kaayo labayon og tao. Although naa siya sa seemingly fully occupied stall parts sa mall, dili kaayo siya mapalit diha kay dili kaayo gaagi ang tao kay paingnan man gud siya sa murag dead end. Mostly paingon sa 3rd floor to HIROS then Zen Zest is just by the escalator but the people would just go straight with a turn to go up to 3rd floor.
What I've noticed with Gaisano is that they were not able to plan the mall accordingly that it would make all the stores seem to be in equal stall location--good foot traffic from all ends of the mall. They should have made the corridor of the mall that would seem to make everything seemingly in unison so that there would be no dead end. IF there is a dead end part in a mall, most of the shops in that area will have the least foot traffic because it's accessibility is only confined to those who really know the product and not the other way around where people would know the store through curiousity when they pass by a certain store or stall.
For this, I think the design and layout of the mall with regard to their arrangement of the stalls and corridor/walking area is the least thing that came to the minds of the architects or designers of this mall. Moreover, Gaisano was just too focused on his "retail business part" of this mall. He had the four floors of the mall, actually a big percentage of it, confined to the department store alone and not to mention a big part of the first floor to the supermarket. Although this is a good thing for him, it is detrimental to those businesses who would locate at this mall. Minus the facade, the design and layout of the mall is not pro rentee.

Look, I myself dont praise this mall pero in any way wala gyud ko nanaway pag ayo. Pero mao lang ni ato, kay wala ma'y lain, diri lang ko. Maybe it's easier for you to drive 1/45 mins to CdeO, didto na lang ka. :) Adto lang man ko's CdeO basta naa'y kahinanglanon nga wala gyud diri sa Iligan sama anang mopalit og peripherals sa PC pero kung grocery and other stuff diri ko's Gmall.

TONZI October 11th, 2009, 03:06 PM ^^ Lagi. As for me, I love SMs or Ayalas pero not to the point like when I return to my city without them I still indulge in their grandness and perfect ambiance with a notion of putting down of what we only have.
THis mall in Iligan has what our family needs. If there was lacking in it then I say it in a more substantial manner rather than throwing muds on it.
People should learn first to love simplicity before going out to the world to appreciate and over-indulge the worldy grandness because if one gets "culture shocked", he may never be able to recover himself and lead him to be alienated to the place where he comes from.

Lagi. Dili man pud ko kaingon nga perfect ni nga mall pero the way he says it, parang gusto niya hasta pud mi maging distasteful ani nga mall.
Sa akoa okay lang man ang Gmall Iligan, kung wala'y tissue paper you can buy one at the supermarket man like I did once when my daughter felt the call of nature. Simple lang gud, if some conveniences are not free then pay for it so that you would be satisfied. Dili nang mag-metikulosa ta as not all places or malls are made to please your taste. When I was in SM CdeO for the first time, I told mao ni siya ang pinaka-gamay nga SM na akong naadtoan but I never said something nga degrading ra kaayo. Not because dili ko taga CdeO but because I think one's opinion should be placed in proper forums coz it will only make you look as miserable as that issue youre pointing out.
Daghan daghan pa gyud noon kulang pero I say this is not the right place to air your grievances. You can go to the management and state your side to them para ma-address ang issue :)

dili lang man sa Gaisano Mall siya nanaway, hasta man pud sa city sa Iligan. Wala lang, I just find it awkward when somebody who's from his own city making mud throwings towards it. I mean, taga-Iligan ba gyud ka??? Wala lang, ironic lang kaayo na nga doing sa usa ka Iliganon.

so much for @capricorn's criticism, by the way, for the past 2 days now, I have seen some people gathering at the stall of Greenwich. I asked one of them and they said they're going to start working on Greenwich's stall. I have seen some cement bags behind the temporary plywood wall that they put up and some really loud and strong pounding on the wall.
So, probably within 1 to 2 months Greenwich will have its 2nd branch at Gmall Iligan. :)
dark_knight_detectve October 15th, 2009, 06:49 AM Plans for Ayala Mall fronting Gaisano underway, says Mayor Jaraula (http://www.cagayandeoronews-online.com/2009/10/plans-for-ayala-mall-fronting-gaisano.html)

THE Ayala Group is planning on developing a property and build a shopping center in front of the Gaisano Mall on CM Recto Ave.
Mayor Constantino Ja-raula yesterday announced that the Ayalas would start the project anytime soon.
‘‘The groundbreaking would be made before year-end,’’ said Jaraula.
He said he was personally told of the Ayala Group’s plans by former representative Tonyboy Floirendo of Davao whose family made an agreement with the Ayalas. The property, about four hectares, belongs or belonged to the Floirendos.
Meanwhile, Jaraula called on the national government to rationalize the Bureau of Internal Reve-nue’s zonal valuation for real properties.
Jaraula said it would be unfair to fault local governments whenever property owners complain of taxes.
He said the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s zonal valuation––the schedule of fair market values on real property used as basis for the computation of internal revenue taxes––should be taken into account.
He said taxpayers would continue to complain unless the BIR rationalizes the zonal valuation.

We had to deal him with diplomacy coz he claimed he was from our place. We were thinking maybe he's an anti-admin of our city government or perhaps a balikbayan who was deported.
We cannot exercise inappropriate manners to him unless he shows a trolly like manner but he reserved some things, So we had to reserve some ways on dealing with him too.
But whichever way, we are not like that in this thread. But we will retaliate if he showed a clear attack. :)
BTW, thnx @rustyboi for your support in our threads. We also thank you for cleaning the CdeO thread from the attacks of a troll.

messy politicking and all those nonesense...:bash:
By the way, I am so worried about the taxi drivers here in Iligan. I talked to them once riding in one of their taxis. I told how good it is too see more taxis on the streets than before that had "colorum" taxis. He told that it would go back to what it was because of the existence of "habal habal". He told that the city will not chase these "habal habal" drivers because "election is coming". :bash: :ohno:
I am hoping for a political will on the part of our city officials to really apprehend these habal habal drivers. Daghan kaayo ni sila sa city.

Hope Steve will build a mall with modern architecture in Puerto.
There is a very big possibility that he will pursue the plan in his property few years from now once Hanjin will resume their biggest shipyard in Tagovill. ^^

I love the pic you got bai!
Way back 2002, the people in Bulua and even the barangay officials had circulated this "rumor" about the plan of the Ayalas in putting up a mall.
But what happened in the end? Perhaps their property was not feasible yet for their proposed mall.
Anyway, there's this "rumor" now that the Ayalas are planning to develop their property in Bulua as a sea side commercial-residential community in the FUTURE. ^^

That is very logical since Hanjin will have a 40,000 strong workforce. Investors will surely dive into real estate and retail ventures in that area.
