BOHOL – Believing that there is huge potential for Philippine tourism, the Bellevue Hotels and Resorts (BH&R)—a family-owned corporation in the hotel business for the past decade, plans to build 3 full-serviced hotels and 1 more 5-star resort in the future.

BH&R also announced that The Bellevue Resort Bohol (TBR), its first foray into the resort business, will have its grand opening early November.

John Patrick Chan, Managing Director of BH&R, said that the Philippines still has many destinations yet to be developed and promoted.

To meet the demand, the company will build B Hotels in their properties at Quezon City, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos City, while another Bellevue resort is in the drawing board for El Nido, Palawan.

BH&R’s Patcrick, who also manages the Bellevue Hotel Manila and B Hotel both in Alabang, said the industry should build to accommodate the 10 million tourists the country is targeting.

“I believe there is huge potential in Philippine tourism. We have so many destinations still yet to be developed and promoted. The target is attainable only if infrastructure is developed at the same or faster pace as hotels and resorts,” Patrick said.

“Philippines has the wealth of attractions but most of all we have the people to make our country the best tourist destination in all of Asia,” he added.

BH&R’s latest offering, the Bellevue Resort Bohol is located in Panglao Island. Patrick said that what sets their property apart is that while most of the existing resorts in Panglao are all crowded at the northern part of the island, the Bellevue Resort Bohol is tucked in a secluded beach at the sourthwestern tip of the island.

Chan said that the resort’s special location makes it an ideal sanctuary for privacy.

“We have always stood for dedicated services, uncompromised quality and a penchant for innovation. The opening of the resort is proof of our commitment to provide nothing but the best for our guests,” Patrick said.

He, however, declined to give how much BH&R invested in Panglao.

“But it is safe to assume that TBR is most likely one of the largest investments in tourism for Bohol. The current TBR site is less than half of our total property and we have already under construction for completion early 2013 our events and conference facilities just next door,” Patrick said.

Ryan Chan, Corporate Director for Marketing of BH&R, said that all guests receive special treatment throughout their stay.

“At the Bellevue Resort, we know that pampering the guest is an integral part of genuine hospitality,” Ryan said.

He added that the resort’s team will be glad to make arrangements to enhance the guests’ hotel experience.

At present, TBR has 159 rooms, 5dining outlets, an entertainment center, diving and water sports center, convention and events center. Before it opens in November, Chan said that the spa and gym will be done by then.:cheers:

Vista Land and Lifescape, Inc. will be developing more vertical projects this year but with a difference. These buildings will be like vertical villages, according to Vista Land president Manuel Paolo Villar.

“The buildings will be spacious, we are using the vertical village approach to allow residents in our condominium projects to enjoy the spacious comfort usually available only to subdivision and townhouse residents,” said Villar.

These vertical villages will also increase high rises’ contribution to Vista’s total income from seven to 15 percent.

“The vertical village strategy also means Vista condominiums will be distinct from the usual restricted-box structures that sprout in Mega Manila today,” he added.

Vista Residences builds and manages all the condominium projects of Vista Land and Lifescapes that cater to three main market segments – Camella Condo Homes for the low-income segment, Crown Asia Homes for the upper and middle-income group and Brittany for the high-income segment.

Camella, the real estate brand with the widest geographical reach is now doing vertical developments in Metro Manila and Cagayan de Oro city.

In a statement on Tuesday, Vista Land said it would employ a so-called vertical-village concept, which combines lifestyle components from its flagship subdivision projects with its condominium developments.

P91M to be spent on LTFRB office rehabilitation, construction

The Philippine government will spend around P91 million to construct and rehabilitate several Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board offices.

To be built or rehabilitated are the LTFRB Central Office and regional offices in Quezon City, Legazpi City, Cagayan de Oro City, Camarines Sur, and Cotabato City.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said the project aims to raise the standard of public service in LTFRB offices and to fulfill the government's commitment to provide Convenient, Affordable, Reliable, Efficient, and Safe transport services.

Of the monies committed to the project, P63.1 million will be used for the construction of a four-storey LTFRB Central O¬ffice building with a total floor area of 1,770 square meters as well as the rehabilitation of a three-storey NCR Regional office building with an area of 3,533 square meters.

Another P17 million would be used to construct a new three-storey LTFRB offi¬ce building in Camarines Sur. It will have a total floor area of 921 sq. m.

Some P6.3 million would go to the LTFRB regional office building expansion project in Legazpi City. It entails the construction of two-storey building with a total floor area of
293 sq.m.

Another P2.66 million and P2 million would be used, respectively, for the rehabilitation of a two-storey LTFRB building in Cotabato City and the construction of one-storey annex building in Cagayan de Oro City. — DVM, GMA News

Vista Land and Lifescape, Inc. will be developing more vertical projects this year but with a difference. These buildings will be like vertical villages, according to Vista Land president Manuel Paolo Villar.

“The buildings will be spacious, we are using the vertical village approach to allow residents in our condominium projects to enjoy the spacious comfort usually available only to subdivision and townhouse residents,” said Villar.

These vertical villages will also increase high rises’ contribution to Vista’s total income from seven to 15 percent.

“The vertical village strategy also means Vista condominiums will be distinct from the usual restricted-box structures that sprout in Mega Manila today,” he added.

Vista Residences builds and manages all the condominium projects of Vista Land and Lifescapes that cater to three main market segments – Camella Condo Homes for the low-income segment, Crown Asia Homes for the upper and middle-income group and Brittany for the high-income segment.

Camella, the real estate brand with the widest geographical reach is now doing vertical developments in Metro Manila and Cagayan de Oro city.

Camella Condo Homes (CCH) already have five medium- and high-rise vertical projects in Metro Manila --- Laureano di Trevi, CCH Taguig, CCH Pasig and the university projects (CCH Taft and CCH katipunan).

New SM mall opens in Davao

DAVAO CITY -- SM Prime Holdings, Inc. is planning to set up five additional shopping malls in Mindanao in the next five years.

At Friday’s (Sept. 28) opening of SM Lanang Premier, Hans T. Sy, company president, said the construction of two shopping malls will start next year in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Butuan.

“Mindanao is greatly overlooked,” Mr. Sy said, adding that SM Prime has started negotiations for the location of the three other planned malls that are eyed within the next four years.

SM Prime is operating two shopping malls in this city, one in Cagayan de Oro and one in Gen. Santos City.

With the opening of its newest shopping mall in Mindanao, the company is optimistic that the island will be able to contribute at least 8% of the group’s shopping mall revenue. The company has 46 malls nationwide. -- C. Q. Francisco

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Giant mall operator SM Prime Holdings is so bullish about Mindanao consumers, whom it considers power buyers, that it plans to build five more malls on the island within the next four years.

Hans Sy, president of SM Prime Holdings, said that based on a survey conducted by SM Prime Holdings, “Mindanao has a very strong buying power, stronger compared to Metro Manila.”

Metro Manila’s only advantage over Mindanao, he said, was that there were more consumers there. “But per transactions average, Mindanao turned out to have a stronger buying power,” he said.

This strong buying power among Mindanao consumers has encouraged SM Prime Holdings to expand its business on the island.

“Next year we will be opening another SM mall in Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) and another in Butuan City,” he said.

Sy described the upcoming second CDO SM Mall as similar to the one the company has in Olongapo City while the Butuan SM Mall will be similar to the newly opened General Santos City mall.

Negotiations, he said, were ongoing for the building of three more SM malls in Mindanao.

“We have already identified the three sites and negotiations are ongoing,” he said without saying where these malls were to be put up.

When all these are completed, SM will have nine malls in Mindanao.

Sy said SM Prime Holdings was confident the existing four SM malls in Mindanao will contribute 6 to 8 percent of the total revenues of SM malls in the country.

“We are so impressed with the performance of our Mindanao malls. The island has a lot of potential,” he said.

Sy admitted that SM came to Mindanao “a little bit late because we were so focused on the Luzon area.”

Currently, there are 46 malls operated by the Sy family all over the Philippines.

Sy said SM was trying to help spur the country’s development by providing economic opportunities outside Metro Manila.

He said SM Lanang Premier, whose opening he graced on Friday, has 7,000 employees now, including salesgirls, managers, security guards and service crew, and 3,000 more will be hired as the mall and the Park Inn Hotel within it go into full operation.

Most Philippine department stores employ salesgirls on five-month contracts only.

The sixth premier mall would return to the Metro Manila area in Taguig, early next year.

Hans T. Sy, president of SM Prime Holdings Inc., said the four SM malls in Mindanao – two in Davao City, one in General Santos City and one in Cagayan de Oro City – had been chipping in six to eight percent of total revenues of the chain of SM supermalls in the country.

He said two more would be constructed next year and finished in two years, in a phase that would approximate the SM foray in China, which has four malls, like in Mindanao. One would be constructed in Butuan City, which would be like the other supermalls, with an area of 90,000 square meters, and the other in Cagayan de Oro City, which would be a multilevel building to compensate for the smaller area of only 1.7 hectares.

The second mall in Cagayan de Oro City would be mixed use, he said, “also a mall but the rest for call centers, commercial and other use.” Each mall would cost P2 billion.

Sy would not disclose yet the details of the next batch of three malls, saying that the locations were still being evaluated.

“We are taking a serious look and making an aggressive plan for Mindanao. We have overlooked this place and although we would not say that we are late,” he said.

On Friday, the SM Lanang Premier opened to a sellout crowd, with the city and Davao Region’s elite seldom seen in public functions turning for the event, and where some of the world’s famous brands also opening up their stores.

YM Suites to open soon near Cogon

A five-storey building along President Roxas Street near Cogon Public Market is currently being renovated and will soon be called YM Suites.

The building was completed several years ago but was never utilized when completed. Based on its design, perhaps it was really meant either for residential or hotel purposes. This building is just a few meters away from One Network Bank. The city’s growing need for hotels could have prompted investors to convert or maybe revitalize this abandoned building. Again, this project would mean additional jobs in the hotel industry. I also wonder why it is called YM…. as in Yahoo Messenger?

New boutique hotel now rising in CDO

I first posted this project last September 10, 2012 (Click HERE). There was a rumor before about a hotel to be built in the area not until now that a large tarpaulin has been posted onsite.

As shown, the building will have five floors and is owned by Eleonor Pabayo. I wonder who edited the tarp because it misspelled the word BOUTIQUE to BOTIQUE…anyway, I’m not an English teacher but perhaps they should change it sooner…if they care. There’s still no name for the hotel though.

There was already a press release before that Ayala was planning to build community centers/malls having 10k-20k GLA in the cities of Cavite, Baguio, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and Olongapo especially in their masterplanned communities. Remember Alegria Hills is ALP's masterplanned community in the city's uptown. This 2010 press release came out after Centrio. Ayala community malls in Talisay City nearby Bacolod and Cavite are already under construction within their communities.

Here are new projects in the city never been posted in this blog. First is the new stage of Southern Philippines College as shown above.

I don’t know if the stage is done already but the billboard has been there for several weeks already.

Next is a new fuel refilling station in Agusan, Cagayan de Oro City. As shown, the steel frame for the pumping station is now done. Excavation can also be seen in the background. I still have no info what company this is.

THE opening of Japanese restaurant Tokyo Tokyo at the SM Lanang Premier Friday last week marked the start of the firm's aggressive expansion plan for Visayas and Mindanao.

Tokyo Tokyo marketing manager Joan Pamplona said after the SM Lanang store, their first-ever branch outside of Luzon, they will open one in Cagayan de Oro this November and another store in Ceby next year.

Tokyo Tokyo has been in the country for almost 30 years now, but Pamplona explained they only decided to expand in Davao when new management took over.

She said Ramcar Group of Companies acquired Tokyo Tokyo's management three years ago. After that, the expansion plans started and will cover Visayas and Mindanao.

"We fixed everything ever since we acquired the brand. We decided to bring it and epxand it further," Pamplna said during Tokyo Tokyo's launch Thursday, a day before SM Lanang Premier opened its doors to the public.
She said Tokyo Tokyo's menu comes with both new and existing food items, but added that all menus have improved to meet customer satisfaction.

"All these things have been done for the past two years," Pamplona aid.

The Ramcar Group also owns the country's popular donut maker Mister Donut and one of the most famous foodchains in the country, KFC Philippines.
Pamplona said the Cagayan De Oro City branch will be opened this coming November 15.

Tokyo Tokyo's first branch was opened in Quad Park in Makati City. The restaurant first earned its name with its sumptuous japanese cuisines such as maki, prawn tempura, pork tonkatsu, beef misono and chicken teriyaki. Just recently, Tokyo Tokyo came up with its latest burger line shogun and shitake mushroom.

The Japanese restaurant also serves sumo and bento meals, nori wasabi french Fries, red iced tea and and pearl milk tea.

"As we officially open the doors of Tokyo Tokyo in the heart of Davao, we hope to open a whole new dining experience for all Dabawenyos, ne of quality, affordable and delicious Japanese cusines," Pamplona said in a statement.

"We're very happy to be opening not only the first branch to be built outside of Luzon, but also the beginning of our long-awaited expansion plans in the VisMin Region," she added.
