Can I ask whats the highest points to aquire for one building?

germantower
April 28th, 2009, 09:25 PM
^^ sure every building with more than 100floors gets 600 points, allthough i think that we need a new category for buildings from 150 floors. IMO they should get 800 points and buildings with 200floors 1000 points!

saeed
April 30th, 2009, 08:41 PM

nothing about height?!!
so what about 30, 40, 50 , 60 floors how many points?

317m is not very high in SZR!!
emrates tower 355m, Yaqoub tower333, rose tower 330, alattar tower 342, and the index 328 are taller.
Makes this one look some how not tall enough!

AltinD
May 22nd, 2009, 10:51 AM
The scaffolding around the spire is being removed and I don't like the spire getting much narrower half way up. The top section is way to thin. For a better aesthetics they should have gone with the fat spire from bottom to top. :ohno:

Dan Hochhaus
May 29th, 2009, 02:12 PM
^^ Well, some renders present a white glowing illumination on the very top, so perhaps this dark tip of the spire could be part of a beacon.

The lower part of the spire reminds me of an oil derrick... I'm not sure so far if it fits to the rest of the design, but this is better than just a tiny needle.

The render (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=14439923&postcount=1) shows the base of the spire to be cladded so the final result may not appear as spindly as it does now.

Its funny because its true!!
The building will enter the emporis tallest list in a heart beat, and no one can say no!

Dan Hochhaus
June 2nd, 2009, 06:50 PM
But it's no shame to have such an enormous 72-floors-building on the supertall list IMO. Even without spire, HHHR Tower is at least 280m tall, and the Dubai supertall veterans (Emirate Towers and Burj-Al- Arab) have tall spires.

Soroban
June 3rd, 2009, 01:37 AM
^^
280m is Skyscraper (200-299m)

Supertall is 300m or more.

Dan Hochhaus
June 3rd, 2009, 02:31 PM
^^ Of course - but there are way bigger "supertall-cheaters", that need more than 20m from rooftop to make the list. Just think of Shanghai Shimao International Plaza or New York Times Building... or Burj Al-Arab with the highest floor at around 200m.
After all, these are still figures that don't say all about impact and nothing about design quality. Under this aspect, HHHR Tower can't beat the latter, but this here is a great enrichment to the Sheikh Zayed Road panorama - concerning looks AND height.

The base of the spire is indeed going to be cladded. It will be covered with aluminium cladding at the lower half fame work (27m). Top 20m is a box section.

Got that from one of the project engineers.

saeed
June 3rd, 2009, 10:10 PM
Well, this is SZR North area is one of the best city skylines IMO, because It is the most crowded area with supertalls and skyscrapers T/O in the world!
Emirates Towers 2, Rose tower, Index, the address BD and HHHR with total 7. coming also the Yaqoub tower and Alattar. Thats for supertalls.
Not to mention at least 15 skysrapers around.
Certainly with all that height around, the HHHR will not give the most noticeable height image even with the spire!
If it was in any other city it would have a chance to be a land mark, but in Dubai!!

wow, didnt know there was so much buzz going on about this building on the internet lol.

I am currently working on this building. I work as a civil engineer hired by the consulting company, al hashemi :)

The project consists of 3 structures, the main tower, and 2 car park buildings.

Right now, the building is in its final few stages, but the project has been delayed by the contractor. It is supposed to be completed my march, but i doubt it will finish before september.

Hit me up with any questions :)

^^ For starter: Can you confirm the height of 317 meters on top of the spire?

Yes, the tower tops out at 317m. According to the shop drawings, the height at the top of the spire would be 317.6m.

The tower still has quite a few things left in terms of finishing( staircases, bathrooms, etc.). The higher floors are almost done. I happened to have an inspection on the roof, so i took some pics with my crappy cell.

The first car park is almost done. The staircase needs to painted using epoxy paint, and they are still in preparation. The link between the tower and the car park also needs some finishing work. The lift lobby is still awaiting inspection. The contractor is kinda slow, and the organisation is poor.

I haven't gone around to the second car park for inspections yet. It is still under preparation for plaster. Most of the office personnel park in the second car park.

Sorry if the images are huge :ohno:

On Thursday they were doing the electricity load test on the tower, with all the lights inside turned on. I always love seeing these, is once in lifetime chance for the specific tower.

There's already a McDonald's outlet at the facing corner on the adjacent tower on the left, just 20 meters away.

Sounds like NY. At least they didn't make two McDonald's in the same building in case you miss the first one.

^^ The other one is at the corner of Crowne Plaza and it has been there since forever. But you know where what you said happened, in MOE. There's a McD at each of the Food Courts in the mall. :D

^^ It is actually, the electricity load test is the final check before the completion certificate is awarded.

... but then why 4 years seams such a long period of time for building a supertall tower? Are they popping up daily elsewhere in just a couple of years or something?

New York actually doesn't have that many mc donald's restaurants downtown. Places like London and Berlin have way more I think.

Really? I can remember quite some Mcdonalds's, not really on Times Square but close to it. And some where like 3 stories and every table full.

There is something like 4 McDonald's every square mile in Manhattan or something ridiculous like that. And I remember it very well, I saw many over there.

^^ Judging from what I saw there earlier in the year I think there's more than that.
