Tameer launches all-offices 'Silver Tower'

UAE-based property heavyweight Tameer Holding has launched 'Silver Tower', an exclusive office project with estimated construction value of AED 450 million, and located in the Business Bay, marking the third project of Tameer in Dubai's dynamic business hub.

Silver Tower is another project designed to help satisfy the huge and increasing demand for quality office space in Dubai. According to recent research, the number of local and international companies seeking dedicated offices in the emirate is 7,000 and rising.

The tower will comprise of 260 offices of varying sizes over 27 of the building's 31 floors, all characterised by the highest standards of design, construction and finishing. The total area of the tower will be around 700,000 sq. ft., with a final height of 147.5 meters, and is expected to be completed in 2009. Silver Tower will be a freehold development to encourage multinational ownership.

The location of 'Silver Tower' in Business Bay gives easy access to all parts of Dubai from Sheikh Zayed Road down to Jebel Ali Free Zone. Additionally, Dubai International Airport is just a few kilometers away from the tower's front doors.

The project itself goes further than the mere provision of office space. The plans for the development mean that as well as providing 27 floors of premium office spaces, 'Silver Tower' will also be home to a fully equipped health club, swimming pools, a mini golf course, 793 private car parking spaces, retail and commercial outlets, a cafeteria and more.

Developer Tameer Holding yesterday said construction of its Silver Tower in Dubai's Business Bay will commence ahead of schedule after the project's raft foundations were completed one week ahead of plan.

Speaking at a concrete-pouring event to celebrate the start of the next phase of construction, Tameer Dubai's Managing Director, Abdul Hamid Moukayed, said the early completion of the foundation stage is a notable achievement especially after facing several on-site challenges.

"Despite facing numerous hurdles during the laying of the raft foundation, including lack of access to the site due to ongoing infrastructural work, shortages of cement and RMC products and delayed delivery of some materials, through careful planning and timely action we managed to not only complete this phase on time, but pushed it ahead of its planned schedule," Moukayed said.

Located on the waterfront exit of Business Bay, the 34-storey freehold development has so far utilised 2,600 tonnes of cement, 1,200 tonnes of steel and 269 piles, with enabling works executed by Middle East Foundations and completed with nearly 300 workers, engineers and staff working onsite around the clock to ensure the foundation phase of the stunning commercial development was completed ahead of time.

As one of a series of towers being developed by Tameer in Business Bay, Silver Tower comprises 260 offices and is complemented by world-class leisure facilities, retail and dining establishments and a mini golf course.

Al Masharif-Al Rajihi Projects have been appointed as the project's main contractor and will commence work immediately on Silver Tower, utilising four construction pumps, and two on stand-by, as well as 57 transit mixers, two concrete distributors, one tower crane, 14 concrete vibrators, and six power fluids in construction of the tower.

Construction of Silver Tower comes amidst rising demand for residential and commercial units in Dubai.

The 22nd floor of Silver Tower has now been completed, according to its developer Tameer.

The project is located in Business Bay in Dubai and is progressing well.

According to company officials, it is expecting to deliver the completed project in 2010.

Construction passed the 60 per cent mark some time ago. Sources confirmed that the slab for the 26th floor has been completed and the core wall has reached the 28th floor.

The 148-metre tower has a silver aluminium and glass façade. Once completed, the building will comprise 260 offices of varying sizes.

When launched in 2007, the developers had said that they expected the Silver Tower to be completed in 2009. The total area of the 31-storeyed tower will be about 700,000 square feet.

Tameer tops off Silver Tower

Tameer’s Silver Tower has been topped off with its final floor and roof, marking the completion of the project structure works, it has been announced.

The tower, which will consist of 260 offices once completed, now stands at 31-storeys and 148 metres in height.

“Tameer continues to deliver on its milestones and projects and maintains a comfortable lead position in today’s market through demonstrated results,” said Tameer chief development officer John Zwets.

Silver Tower, located at Dubai Business Bay, will offer a health club, 748 parking spaces and retail outlets, spread across an area of 65,000m2.

Construction is progressing on schedule, according to Zwets, and the entire development is expected to be completed next year.
