UDA to spend RM25m on BB Plaza upgrade

UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA) plans to invest RM25 million to upgrade BB Plaza on Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur.

"The upgrading process will start in February next year and it will involve beautifying the building, rearranging business lots, repairing the toilets and signages," UDA managing director Datuk Jaafar Abu Hassan said in a statement.

UDA is now at the final stage where it is about to finalise the design before starting the project.

This project will create more business opportunities. It will also provide a more modern look for the building which is located at an exclusive area.

"We will provide an escalator from the parking lot to the business lot, enhance the lighting and upgrade the mechanical and electrical system," he said.

This would help make the building more competitive and it is expected to benefit 139 tenants at BB Plaza.

"UDA hopes to provide more business opportunities to bumiputera entrepreneurs as to encourage them to compete with others," he said.

UDA also owns other shopping malls like the Pertama Complex in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Plaza Angsana in Johor Bharu and Greentown Mall in Ipoh.

Yahoooooo trully the best good news in a long time !!!! Well done UDA after all these years!!Did you guys know that BB Plaza was supposed to be the main entrance Sungei Wang Plaza when it was built years ago however the original owner owed the IRB so much in taxes they made a deal!!!Thats how UDA got this building!!

RM25m is quite a lot for a small mall! Syabas!

I hope they pay more attention to the main entrance because from jalan bukit bintang it doent seem like one!!

plaza rakyat not by UDAlah. Maybe you should ask when they are going to build the KL sentral mall.

it was their project lah.....but even it has been sold, they should know something.....

The facade of BB Plaza is much newer than that of Sg. Wang. In fact Sg. Wang in general still retain its original 1977 look despite its major renovation in 1993 ;)

It'll be nice if they remove a chunk of Sungei Wang and build a slim skyscraper hotel on the site.

Anyway how to remove a chuck of Sg. Wang? You think this one cake meh? :D

I would think that a skyscraper with a retail podium should be built at the corner of Jalan Imbi and Jalan Sultan Ismail (opposite ParkRoyal Hotel). The retail podium should be connected to Imbi Plaza, Berjaya Times Sq pedestrian bridge and Sg. Wang.....creating a seemless shopping experience! :okay:

^^ Nice! I hope they put more of such screens in BB area! and DBKL should cordon off Jln Bukit Bintang from Pavilion to Hotel Royale Bintang, and area around Lot10 & Sg. Wang at night! Then we will have a mini Causeway Bay! :banana:

Aiyoh.......you forgot that they did that in 2002 and it nearly killed Bukit Bintang ar? And they only do that on the weekends somemore. Bintang Steps is the first casualty and many retailers moved out of BB.

Business dropped tremendously because of no vehicular activity.......dunno why but no place in Malaysia could boom if there are no visibility from cars :D
