Here here, I work in Manchester, as soon as I open my mouth in a bar etc... they make a bee line for me. I guess the American accent turns them on, when they ask what I think of their city they spit the dummy out when I tell them the place is OK but the people suck. I'm all for having pride in your home town but for all you Mancunians out there listen and listen good, go and travel, go explore some of the big cities of this world and realise once and for all you live in a small city in a small country. A country with only one city worthy of actually shouting about. Sure it's probably the greatest city in the world in my opinion but other than London no-one really gives a shit 'bout anywhere else on this island.

"I guess the American accent turns them on..."

They probably think you've Canadian, otherwise they'd avoid you like the plague.

Interesting to read a genuine American perspective on the Manc problem we have here.

Don, why don't you ask him about this bridge in Brooklyn while you're at it.

You might be interested in buying it...

I love it when posters like Neapolitan, Don, Artie and Co continually have a go at Manchester. Why? They know, so do I, do you? :wink2:

What bit, the civic madness or the interconnectivity our cities?

The latter interested me, the former depressed me as it always does.

Don't be mean. It gives them something to do.

Have you ever been there? Just try not to let them find out you aren't a Manc otherwise they encircle you with interesting "facts" about Manchester

I remember Glastonbury, about 99ish, some sexy middle class goth girls squeezed in near us on the thursday aft. I said, "Hi sexy middle-class goth girls, have you just got here?"

"No" they replied" We got here yesterday, but ended up next to some people from Manchester. They kept trying to talk to us about Manchester so we left."

So you see, this place serves a purpose

If it wasn't for this place, Chogmook, Manc Guy, Sir Martin Platt and the gang would congregate outside Picadilly station, waiting for outsiders to come to the city so they could preach the word Manchester

Only ever for the fanny.

What a mard arse! Don, all you ever do is moan! You come accross a piss sodden 70 year old with a hefty chip on the shoulder! So what about Manchester? so what about what you think? we already know what you think! It's tiring! Get a grip! Move on and get over it!

Stop ruining threads! If you've nothing constructive to say, say nothing at all dearest.

but remember, your in Salford when you cross river, your not actually in Manchester anymore, its a completely different world. You can see the change in city dynamics, its a stark one.

Completely different city with no relation to Manchester city center at all. You might as well cross the channel to France :|

Just for the record, Artie is about as 'American' as fish and chips.

This phoney was found out a long time ago.

Crawls out on occasion from beneath his rock like a slug to take a pop at Manchester.

That's the only reason this pond scum comes on the forum, check his posts.

Works in Manchester? Place is ok but hates the people?

Very likely a scouser.

A plastic one....

Funny! but six bucks and my right nut says you're just the kind of jerk that has an obsession with America I bet you wear a baseball cap, like black music and talk like the brothers, and call everyone Man. And no Manchester does not remind me of Chicago ( in your dreams) it does remind me of Leeds,Birmingham,Newcastle And Bristol.I've said this before Dickless but if I said I was from Finland would you dispute the fact. I guess you're just pissed 'cos you and your city does not get the American seal of approval you assholes crave.

Can't his IP address be blocked? He's probably the ugliest troll we've 'EVER' encountered on SSC. (Not only that, but he pretends to be an American aswell) Jeez! C'mon man!

Just because he challenges your wildly inflated opinion of Manchester you think he's a scouser and you want the thread closing? Grow up

From what I can see, he has said, as an American, Manchester reminds him more of British than American cities. Hardly controversial

Actually he started trolling the last second city thread and one of the mods closed it down because of him specifically.
