Seacat to Belfast would be most welcome imo.
Would be very welcome, as it happened on Saturday the Irish Ferry followed the Seacat up the river ..........

Is there a lot of trade between Liverpool/Dublin/Belfast? Whenever I go to Birkenhead I see the Norfolk Line ship with loads of lorries driving in and out..

The Liverpool - belfast ferry leaves at 10.30 pm and gets in at about 6.30am.
If a lorry is on a tacho it probably takes about 5 to 6 hours to get from L/pool/ Mcr area to Stranraer with another two hours loading/ sailing/ offloading.
The Liverpool/ Belfast ferry is obviously more expensive but i'm sure makes more sense to many drivers.
Its not as frequent as Stranraer/ Belfast but they are about half freight half car traffic where as the Liverpool ferry is almost 100% freight.
Its six of one, half a dozen of the other when you factor in diesel used/ sleep/ time taken/ arrival and depature times etc etc

You should see the size of the Fastcats we have down here in Portsmouth (not the yellow ones)
These ones!

These could do well on the Liverpool-Belfast route, they cross the channel in half the time the normal ferries take.

^^ The have those on the Stranraer- Belfast route.
I wonder if there is an operational reason that they cant cross the Irish Sea? Too rough?

I thought the original Superseacat was like that? I remember stories in the news about dickheads on jetskis racing underneath it.

You should see the size of the Fastcats we have down here in Portsmouth. I think Jonathen Swift, the Irish Ferries seacat that plys between Dublin and Holyhead, is about a similar tonnage. There is only market reasons why this type and size of seacat isn't used between Liverpool and Irish ports.

Speaking of things in the river (I couldn't find the other river thread and didn't want to start another one) when I went for a walk on Sunday it was nice to see lots of activity around the docks, from a large group of people having canoeing lessons, to people playing canoe polo (?!) and then lots of activity on the river too. We need to encourage more of this sort of waterbourne activity to really capitalise on the great resource we have in the river and the docks, for this area to thrive we need to look seriously at the leisure resources available
