FREKI March 18th, 2007, 08:47 PM Beatiful. Are there any cities you haven´t been to Mr_Denmark? :DPlenty.... ( it's a friggin huge planet!!! )

opium March 19th, 2007, 07:51 AM Is it true you cant chew gum in Singapore?
FREKI March 19th, 2007, 08:59 AM Thanks all! :cheers1:
Is it true you cant chew gum in Singapore?Yep... I think there's a Sin$1000 fine just for bringing it into the country... I honestly wished we had that here!
It wasn't as clean as I had expected, but it was still very clean...
Hviid March 19th, 2007, 09:01 AM Just awesome! You've done an excellent job exploiding this city with your camera! :) I thank you for that!
Cheers mate!
:cheers2:
FREKI March 19th, 2007, 09:20 AM Why thanks you very much old chump.... cheers right back at you! :cheers1:

But gum is good for you teeth .
FREKI March 19th, 2007, 10:14 AM ^might be, but it looks aweful on the ground...
Awesome pictures. How long will you be there? Not for long.. I came back to Denmark yesterday ( was there for a week ) :)
JoSin March 19th, 2007, 12:51 PM Really great pics Mr D. You really dug almost everything in singapore except Sentosa.
Chewing gums. Yes chewing gums are banned here but I still have packets of chewing gums in my fridge. There are still people chewing them on the streets. Singapore isnt that "nanny" as many people think. The rules are not that harsh in fact. So far I have never heard of anyone being fined for chewing gums on the streets.
ØlandDK March 19th, 2007, 01:08 PM Great pictures D...Really love the pictures with the flowers and trees etc. and the skyscrapers in the background!:)
FREKI March 19th, 2007, 01:32 PM Thanks again all! :cheers1:
Really great pics Mr D. You really dug almost everything in singapore except Sentosa.
Glad to hear it :)
About Sentosa I missed it deliberatly... it might sound stupid, but I like to skip a few places each place I go so I have a reason to go back again - and I sure want to go back again! :)
I had a taxi driver who was all nuts about the upcomming casinos - so for a casino lover like me that's another great reason to revisit in the near future...
Until then keep up the great work guys... and keep banning gum - it sucks! :)
opium March 19th, 2007, 03:30 PM How much did this trip cost you? Where do you get the money to travel so often?
KB March 20th, 2007, 01:15 AM Another impressive spread Mr. D. I wish I could travel with you.
Adios
Flickr aint a bad alternative.
Mr D. Did you take some of these pics off flickr? I don't mean to offend you but i am just curious.
And yeah, what is your occupation?
FREKI March 20th, 2007, 02:01 AM Mr D. Did you take some of these pics off flickr? I don't mean to offend you but i am just curious. No ofcause I didn't - why would I do that?
Any pic with the Mr Denmark logo is an official Mr D picture!
If you see any pics of mine posted by others feel very free to notify me!
And yeah, what is your occupation?
I work part-time as an OCR technician for the Danish Postal service... nothing major...
How much did this trip cost you? This was only a week, so little over $2K food, beer and local transportation inc.
Where do you get the money to travel so often? Well... I'm Danish, we have fairly high wages ( gotta love unions! :) )..
Second as I mentioned above I work part-time for the Danish postal service ( 32h/week )...
I don't need a car so I don't have one... and I rent my apartment, freeing up a lot of cash for fun stuff like travelling... my yearly travel budget is around 10K US$ I'd rather spend my money while alive and fit to do so :)
Skyprince March 20th, 2007, 03:43 AM These are the nicest pics of Singapore ive ever seen !
Do you know that Singapore was a very poor country 30 years back ? Lee Kuan Yew has transformed this island state into a developed, First-world nation, in less just 2 decades !
redstone March 20th, 2007, 04:19 AM Glad you enjoyed your stay, Mr Denmark! Was it a free-and-easy or a guided tour? :)
xzmattzx March 20th, 2007, 06:16 AM Great pictures!
FREKI March 20th, 2007, 06:50 AM Thanks again all! :cheers1: Glad you enjoyed your stay, Mr Denmark! Was it a free-and-easy or a guided tour? :)
I book a hotel and the flight and leave all other things up to what I feel for when I wake up in the morning... so "free and easy" :)
RafflesCity March 21st, 2007, 03:17 AM Great pics! Thanks for sharing :)
I see you walked quite a bit. Did you venture into Little India and the historic Arab area?
FREKI March 21st, 2007, 09:00 AM I see you walked quite a bit. Did you venture into Little India and the historic Arab area? That would be the area east of Suntec right?
If so a little... but only along Nicoll and Beach Road...
I ate at the Burger king in this building :)

Luv2travel March 21st, 2007, 09:25 AM Great pictures. I didnt know Singapore had such an abundance of trees and plant life. The skyline is so captivating.

Ahh the eccentric-looking Concourse :D
Yes the Arab conservation area is along Beach Rd, opposite the building in fact.
So which places did you visit in 1 week here?
ØlandDK March 21st, 2007, 06:38 PM I ate at the Burger king in this building :)

btw, excellent pics, interesting what you told us about your life
FREKI March 21st, 2007, 07:15 PM :D
I'm sorry guys but I just don't feel comftable going around taking pics of girls.. it's creepy!
This should keep you going: www.911asians.com ;)
You go to asia and them you eat at Burger King?:lol:I know I know... but there's only so much noodles and fish I can eat in a week ;)
The case is it was a bit too hot and humid for me, so I needed cooling and in the BK case there was a small mall in the building and non of the shops interested me, so I desided to spend a little time having a whopper :)
So which places did you visit in 1 week here?I mainly stayed by the river and in the Orchard road area... ( as the pictures shows )
I did take the MRT up to Woodlands to see the residential part of the city and actually try the system...
And ofcause in need of cooling the hole Mall system ( Raffles, Suntec and CityLink... ) :)
As I have mentioned before I know there's a lot more to the place, but I don't want to see it all in one go - I want a reason to return later :)
Tom_Green March 21st, 2007, 07:22 PM The cities i haven`t seen and i want to visit the most are Shanghai and Singapore.
You travel as much as hkskyline :D
I think the same way about travelling as you do. The memories you have are more worth than any Mercedes ;)
When i visit Singapore i will try to visit Kuala Lumpur, too. Have you thought about it?
BTW great pics ;)

friends told me in denmark they sell porn at the bakery next to some bread and everywhere!! True? Lol.
Ivanhoe30 March 22nd, 2007, 01:42 AM Your photos are amazing as always and very inspiring.
FREKI March 22nd, 2007, 02:12 AM Thanks all! :cheers1:
friends told me in denmark they sell porn at the bakery next to some bread and everywhere!! True? Lol.Well porn is widely available here.. but next to the bread maybe a bit much... :)
Some bakeries may sell porn mags... but I would expect most of them to leave that job to the kiosks..
Almost all newspapers and weekly magazins have nude models in them and are sold places like bakeries, so it depends on how you define porn..
Hardcore porn can be purchased in all kiosks, gasstation, supermarkets and so on..
( we were the first western nation to allow porn in newer times :) )
I think the same way about travelling as you do. The memories you have are more worth than any Mercedes ;) Agree 100%...
What good are material goods when you're stuck in bed due to an accident or illness... good memories is worth more than anything else!
When i visit Singapore i will try to visit Kuala Lumpur, too. Have you thought about it?I was only there for a week.. but KL is certainly also a must see place for me!

lol funny country  if I think of all the german families coming to denmark with their little children, seeing that porn stuff in the gas stations...lol (thats exactly that what my friends told me, they used to go to denmark often when they were little)
only thing I saw of denmark yet was the kopenhagen airport, man I love the wooden floor!!!!!!!
WinoSoul March 22nd, 2007, 02:54 AM Amazing!
FREKI March 22nd, 2007, 09:33 AM lol funny country  if I think of all the german families coming to denmark with their little children, seeing that porn stuff in the gas stations...lol (thats exactly that what my friends told me, they used to go to denmark often when they were little)lol Denmark might be liberal but Germany isn't that far behind... ( Reeperbahn! )

I'm glad you liked it...
Skyprince March 22nd, 2007, 10:52 AM Mr Denmark is a skyline/skyscraper-maniac !
One thing I like about Scandinavian states is their ability to develop so highly without "boasting" their skyscraper life like what Asian countries do
Andrew March 25th, 2007, 03:37 PM Singapore is awesome, I lived there for ten months and really loved the place.
The authorities are quite strict buit not as much as their reputation suggests. I got away with chewing gum, even on the MRT (and that's a BIG no no :nono:), it's great, you don't have to do much to feel like a rebel there!
FREKI March 25th, 2007, 05:53 PM Mr Denmark is a skyline/skyscraper-maniac ! Yep!
One thing I like about Scandinavian states is their ability to develop so highly without "boasting" their skyscraper life like what Asian countries do  Yeah... drawing attention is pretty much seen as an negative thing to do here - be that a tall shiny headquaters or a row of flashy mansions...
We have a moral codec in Denmark called the " Jante Law" it pretty much sums up how it is here - although things are slowly changing..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jante_Law
Rem March 25th, 2007, 07:43 PM Singapore is the city of the cleanliness and of the modernity. I really like that.
Insomniac April 8th, 2007, 08:51 AM Gorgeous pictures.
