Project Brief

Esentai Park is currently under development in the heart of Almaty, Kazakhstan’s most cosmopolitan city.
Scheduled for completion towards the end of 2007, this project on Al-Farabi Avenue
– Almaty’s prime location – will have a dramatic effect on the city.

The spectacular 37-storey Esentai Tower and other buildings on the development have been designed
by New York’s internationally renowned Skidmore Owings and Merrill architects. The project – with its JW Marriott hotel, large ballroom for special events, three residential buildings, 15 floors of office space, shopping mall
and fitness centre – will assist with the city’s transition to become the hub of Central Asia.

This is a beautiful building. The render in which you see the mountains in the background is great. I would want to stay there for a few nights :) . Are there any more nice projects going on in Almaty?

Unfortunately, with the new height ordinance, there aren't a lot of tall projects currently under construction in Almaty. Dostyk Office Complex(42fl), Nurly Tau(28fl), and Alma Town(46fl) are among very few complexes taller than 25 stories. Hey, I just want to say that I went to Almaty for 5 days a couple of weeks ago, and trust me, Borat doesn't do it justice. I can't say about the entire country, but Alamaty is definitely a modern city.
And some business districts are just poping out from the ground.
Very cool projects for a very enjoyable city.
They do have to sort out their driving skills though... :lol:

The construction of the 28-story JW Marriott tower of the multifunctional complex “Esentai Park” has drawn to a close. Work on the construction of skeletons, faces and roof covering of the tower is fully completed (100%). The hotel will open its doors in the mid 2008. Work on the 20-story high residential tower is expected to continue throughout 2008.

Esentai Park is looking absolutely phenomenal. i would LOVE to visit Almaty someday; this project looks extremely upscale and Almaty's renaissance seems too good to miss.

i found two images of what the rooms at the JW Marriott Almaty will look like when the hotel opens in August 2008. i'll post them below for you guys to view.

^^ Of course it topped out, the hotel tower part of the complex was fully realized in June!

Looks of very high standard and the cladding looks excellent albeit being a bit boring.But its very nice and a very respectable height :)

^^ I know, the cladding was a bit of a let-down for those anticipating a new landmark. Still, I believe it didn't came as much of a surprise, considering this is SoM's usual low key high-tech approach at work here. In effect, the tower may appear to fade into the dull Almaty skyline and blend in with the surrounding mountain scenery rather than engage the eye.
