^^Its an Islamic bank owned by Somalian businessmen, they're working on their new 10 floor building next to the presidential palace. Couldn't get any renderings or details so I couldn't post...Don't hesitate to do so if u find anything.

A war criminal in this pic! The guy in the military uniform, Mohamed Djama, is the head of the Garde Republicaine (the presidential guard). He is involved in the murder of civilians in the North during the 1991-1994 civil war. He then shoot years later the invalids (soldiers hurt during the war) that were protesting in front of the presidential palace, 1 was killed and several were wounded! In 2006, the Djiboutian Leaugue for Human Rights published its first report and asked the government to do justice to the victims by judging the criminals. Its leader was sent to prison right after the report was published for a year without trial, and paid 5 millions DJF in fine.

This s the kinda people IOG is surrounded with, criminals and tribalists! We're not gonna go anywhere with these kinda people as officials! :ohno:

^^ Tadjoura is Afar heartland, seat of the Tadjoura Sultanate (the Sultan still resides there), the majority is Afar like Obock. Ali Sabieh and Arta are mainly Somali. Dikhil is roughly 51% Afar, 49% Somali (that's why its called the city of unity).

Hope the construction of the new port and exploitation of the salt in nearby Assal lake will kick off the city's economy. Everything is too centered in the capital

They're Djiboutian Afars, but they're wearing both flags because it was the inauguration ceremony of the Ethio-Djibouti power inter-connexion.

Lovely culture indeed, though this attire is of coastal Afars...Ethiopian Afars don't dress this way if I'm not mistaken. Besides, that sword dance (the most popular) is native of Tadjoura.

That is the Central Court Yard and once you enter through that door one of the most Amazing Chandelier i have ever seen is in that room and if you go further down you will reach the main entrance to the Palace.

Well they're originally Yemenis...You've seen the Yemeni look, they're a bit darker skinned than most Arabs. I met 2 guys from Hadramaut last Friday at the mosque and I thought they were Sudanese, until they told me they were Yemeni. Both had my skin color (I'm dark)!

Downtown Djib-city pics I took 3 days ago. Lot's of renovations and constructions there, I really hope they keep the initial architecture of the buildings they're renovating otherwise the city will lose it's "soul"

Thanks for the update Ras!The city looks beautiful and clean,also I like the structure of the old building too,i think it's fine to build new structures around or top of the old buildings,but still keep the original architecture.

Nice pics Ras. I wonder how much ethiopian architects, engineers and contractors are involved in the construction industry in Djibouti ... I'm asking because I see a lot of similarity between the construction methods in both countries.

I noticed that djibouti streets looks very narrow just like Mecca city you guys need to solve this problem and loved the paved sidewalks its truly such a relief

That is one of the heritage of an old city. I think it can be a nice feature and is part and parcel of the character of a city, especially around the historical parts of the city.

I didn't meant that could Djibouti be all suuqs and bazaars of course no i meant the neighborhoods in general and the streets are very narrow but i agree with old city heritage just like Damascus Syria and Amman Jordan they have just like these streets but not all the city thats what i meant :):)
