I don't know much about this development ...but its Huge .... opps double Post

This project will re-define the city of Tauranga
It has its roots in the very essence of who and what we are

It will impact upon our social, economic, cultural and environmental landscape
And will help shape our future and how others view us.

Hundreds climb the Mount to honour Sir Ed

21.01.2008
By MICHELE McPHERSON

Clutching her white leather handbag, she emerged in high spirits to join about 900 others who climbed to the summit between 9am and 1pm to sign one of two tribute books for Sir Ed.

Born less than two months after the famous mountaineer, Mrs Irvine said she thought the tribute book idea by Tauranga Mayor Stuart Crosby was a great idea and she admired the mayor for the gesture.

An inspiration herself, Mrs Irvine scaled the 232m high mountain in the scorching sun.

Duty park ranger Gary Borman said when he arrived at the summit - prior to 9am - he was swamped by a crowd of about 50 people waiting to pay tribute to Sir Ed.

At 11.15am a steady queue of about 70 people were waiting an average of 15 to 20 minutes, some to simply sign their name and address, others to leave a heartfelt message.

Among the crowd was 12-year-old Baylee Fleming who made the climb with family to "appreciate" Sir Ed.

Teresa McConchie - who has made three trips to Nepal herself - was thankful for her dark glasses as she explained the inspiration Sir Ed had been to her.

"We've stood and looked up at Everest a couple of times and been inspired by what he did. It's quite moving really when you see how many people he's touched, it's amazing," she said.

Mr Borman said the crowd finally dropped off at about 1.10pm. He said between 820 and 830 signatures had been made and that he witnessed family groups writing a combined single message.

The two Mauao tribute books, along with others from Tauranga's four public libraries, will be sent to the Hillary family this week.

Meanwhile the nation's public farewell to Sir Ed began in Auckland today.

Sir Ed will lie in state in Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, before tomorrow's state funeral in the smaller, more intimate St Mary's church next door.

The casket containing Sir Ed's body was to arrive on the cathedral forecourt at 10am today.

Ngati Whatua will perform a powhiri before a short formal ceremony inside the cathedral attended by Hillary family members, Prime Minister Helen Clark, Governor-General Anand Satyanand, political representatives and members of the Nepalese and Indian communities.

The ceremony will include the laying of wreaths.

Just about in that exact Spot , I ate half a Chocolate Cake filled with the Green stuff with a friend and had to wait 5 Hours on the side of the Road at the Maungatapu before I was confident enough to line my Car up correctly before crossing the bridge , hence the lack of Brain cells later in life

We should of just had Fish and Chips
