It is worth living under a dictatorship of royals if such beauty reigns.

Screw democracy... it only serves to bring in nasty looking mullahs.

Where is the fashion police when you really need them?

Farah ( Diba) Pahlavi, Empress of Iran

Farah Pahlavi, Empress of Iran (1938) is the widow and third wife of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (the late Shah of Iran) and the only Shahbanu (Empress) of modern Iran.

Though the titles and distinctions of the Iranian imperial family were legally abolished by the new government, she often is styled Empress or Shahbanou, out of courtesy, by foreign media as well as by supporters of the former monarchy. She does use the title Empress Farah Pahlavi, a combination of title and surname that has no dynastic precedent, though her children do not use their former titles in any official manner

As it became clear that the Iranian Revolution would be successful, Empress Farah accompanied her husband into exile, departing from Iran on January 16,1979. The couple first went to Egypt, then later stayed in Morocco, the Bahamas, Mexico, the United States and Panama, before finally returning to Egypt, where they remained until the Shah's death on July 27, 1980.

She now divides her time between D.C., New York, Paris, and Cairo, where she has a palace.

It's the Moroccan title equivalent to "my lady" in English. We also use it when politely talking to older women or jokingly amongst peers.

Princess Soraya is indeed very beautiful.

lol, I agree.
I did have 2 dogs with royal blood though  The first one we had to give away because we got him when he was almost 1 year old and was way too spoiled. And the other was what I consider my first dog-it was a dachshund. Her grandma belonged to the king's sister (current king's aunt)

Me personally? Nothing.
But Hitler or Stalin never personally hurt me either. That does not mean they are not monsters.

Royals firstly, they have wealth and comfortable life and no worries. All because of WHAT? Because their mother or father was someone? The ones who have power are despots, the one who don't have power are a drain on society's money (like in Britain). Is there anything to like about royals? Maybe you can make the exception for Kouroshe kabir, but other than that they have all been bastard.

I'm sorry but your opinions seem very hypocritical!!
you talk of someone being special because of their blood and who they are related to...isnt that the same with your Ali???

I have to say that yes, I am a Royalist and I also live in Britain...however i would always choose a royal family over any government similar to the IRI.

The time of the prophet was a different time. There was no ability for a country to decide their leaders in that time. It was 1400 years ago. And Ali was technically never a leader, if you remember you will notice he was assassinated by the rulers of the time because he was gaining in popularity! And maybe he was respected for being the prophet's son in law, but he is respected today for his life style more than who he was related to.

And that is your personal opinion. People who do not care about politic or economic tend to support the monarchy because all they see is "personal life." What they need to understand is that before PERSONAL life there is life itself. Without independence -- or even any PROGRESSION toward independence -- the country would have been plundered, what type of life is this? From "personal life" I agree with you, but that is the only area where the monarchy was better. Political rights, and economic self determination (and independence for political policy also), are much more important in my opinion. Because the country and people are more important than you or me alone.

I do not care about politics or economics????!
You dont have any right to make that judgement. I have studied politics practically all my life and come from a very politically minded family, in a way that they themselves are involved in politics at a national level or otherwise in Iran itself and abroad...

And just to inform you...I am not a royalist in the way that you are thinking of...I am a Constitutional Monarchist...and just to clarify this is where a government is created under a constitutional system which acknowledges an elected or hereditary monarch as head of state, as opposed to the misconception of an absolute monarchy (which you are obviously thinking of!), where the monarch is not bound by a constitution and is the sole source of political power. Britain has a Constitutional Monarchy and the UAE among many others...

You talk of PERSONAL lives...well...to be honest I do not see having a Royal Family as any different to another form of government!
Does Gordon Brown not have a personal life? Does Rafsanjani not have a personal life? I know from first hand about his personal life...mostly from a family member who was in his inner circle.

You are obviously not educated enough to comment on these topics because you seem to jump to conclusions and not even read peoples posts past the first TWO LINES.

You seem to go about defending the IRI in any post that you write on this forum...yet you fail to hear others opinions....if you were into politics and economics as you claim you are then you...yourself would see what kind of mozakhraf government is running Iran. :ohno:

Darya, do you hold the same standard of "special blood" for Imams? Can we see you hold a principalled consistent view on one issue? I bet you are OK with the imam "special" blood and get offended very easily if anyone makes a comment about that.

You talk about not believing in a monarchy. Do you support the IRI? At the end of the day, Khamenie is the "Supreme Leader" and has a veto power over all matters. His council choose who can run and who cannot run in elections. That is very close to an absolutist form of a gov't. Man, you keep doing this in every thread. You have one standard for yourself and one for everyone else.

I personally don't believe in special blood for anyone and think everyone should be treated and addressed exactly the same way. I don't care what a given person's profession or background or whatever is.

King of Iran passed away awhile after the revolution due to sickness but his wife is living in Washington D.C with her son and family.

Leila, the daughter of the late Shah of Iran committed suicide in a London hotel room.

Soraya Esfandiari was genetically male. This was why the Shah eventually divorced her. She never menstruated, and everybody knew about it except the Shah himself. She didn't undergo any sex change operation, she was just born externally female. She probably had undescended testes somewhere in her abdomen which were removed for risk of becoming malignant.

MBC has a pretty good TV series based on the life of the late King Farooq of Egypt. His sister married the Shah of Iran.

I agree with Daryae_Abi and Purple Dreams regarding my opinion of royalty. In the gulf states there's so much inbreeding in the heir apparents, I think we risk getting literally retarded future rulers. They're already spoiled rotten.

And gole hayahou, the UAE has an absolute monarchy. Our ministerial council is almost a family gathering.

I think gulf princes interested in marrying Moroccan women (which seems to be trendy), should go for princesses rather than homeless club dancers. It's classier. Weird though how half breeds end up raised differently by some royalty. It's like if the kid's mother is a foreigner, he/she can be raised as a foreigner.

We have a saying "For every age, there are its men and times." or something like that. One day she's queen, the next she's just a commoner living in exile. Well, she lived her times.

I love looking at pictures of iran's former monarchs even though i'm completely against the idea of a monarchy. I belive farah diba also has a home in france as well. The late shah's twin sister(shams) and other sister(ashraf) live in the LA area as well and his first daughter to the former princess of egypt(shanaz) is also still in california. Its just sad that someone as sweet as farah has to spend the rest of her life defending her dictator husband's regime.

Shah had 3 palaces around Tehran the main was is Saad Abad, 2nd is Niavaran and the 3rd one I don't know where it is. it's somewhere in centre of Tehran.

Below is the Saad Abad placae, which consists of I think about 14 palace buildings and it's a museum nowadays and it's very beautiful :)
It is located North of Tehran at foot hill of Alborz Mountains

The second one is Niavaran palace located in the North East of the city
This one is much smaller.

I'll look for documentary evidence over the weekend. I could be wrong since I don't recall the source(s) of this info. But it's entirely possible for her to be 46 XY. It's rare, but I've seen a couple already, and I've seen a lady with two vaginas. I don't think anything can be outruled because of its rarity.

I puke on your stupid mullahs, if you dont love your history your not worth the name Iranian. I love the history of 2500 dynasties who ruled Iran like it was their child (except some of the mullah kings we had but well... what do we have today? quite the same crap, but that doesnt take my love away) If you think monarchies are crap you think irans history for 2500 was shit and now under mullah khamenei is also shit. Learn to love your country. The mullahs that ruled Iran and Rule Iran today are over pukable our kings and queens were the ones that made Iran big and respecteable the mullahs are the ones that broke everything to pukeable levels.

LETS WORSHIP SONS and GRANDSONS of someone who talks about a book and becomes famous AND Seyeds and give them all of our respect and more! because they have "special blood" pfffffffff hypocrite.

I understand your latter point, but I still agree with Daryae's idea of monarchies. Special blood is non-existent.

I'm a Sunni however, so I don't believe in holy dynasties of seyyeds and mullahs. Even Noah had disbelieving, corrupt children. It doesn't matter if your ancestor is a prophet or not. In any case, I think Mohammed -pbuh-'s sons died in infancy so that non of these claims are made about belonging to his lineage. I cringe everytime I read texts which mention the Jordanian or Moroccan royalty and there's a mention of that. Who cares if King Abdullah has any blood in him from the prophet's descendants via Fatima, and who believes it anyway?

I don't think who raises you makes that much of a difference either eventually. Moses grew up in Pharoah's palace and became a prophet, and Micah was raised by Gabriel in the Sinai desert, and he made people worship a golden calf.

No you don't have to, persian nobility doesn't exist anymore :) Thank you.
Even though you just are a randomer and a commoner. Just accept it and don't insult me or anything to do with my family thank you and no you don't have to call me prince or anything because i am not a prince, good old days were people like you got exiled for saying stuff like that instead of us sitting all over the world...

Anyways, these are very cool pics. Morocco and Jordan have really beautiful families especially.

ps Although I'm not a monarchist, I will always love Farah Diba Pahlavi. :)

Everyone is talking about Queen Rania of Jordan. Honestly, I think she's pretty, but very plain and generic looking. There's nothing wrong with her features, but there's just nothing spectacular either.. I see women who look like her every day, they're just not royalty.

^^ gorgeous women with extreme ugly men :(

his wife is one of my cousin's acquaintance

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/517/3399mn6.jpg

her name is Fahdah Abu Nayyan and she is Saudi though originally from Hayer, Riyadh

The men arent extremely ugly but it's quite obvious that they were attracted to the wealth and status (or perhaps personality) rather than the looks.

And, Princess Fadah and Prince Hashim have two daughters :) beautiful family!

^^ wow he is very handsome :)

Also, I don't think the aga khans count as "royals".

I don't understand your comment about Egyptian Royals. Are you saying that there are no Egyptian royals alive today? If so, then I'd like to inform you that the 1952 coup was bloodless and no body was killed! So I don't get why they wouldn't be alive today.
If you mean that they are no longer royals since they were deposed, then I would say.....semantics! Why would I put only black and white ones and not color ones

Also, the Agha Khan title was bestowed upon them by the Qajar Shah of Persia. It's a title of nobility. Also they are titled prince, princess, begum and countless many other titles...Look them up in the peerage books, including Burke's and the Almanach de Gotha.

KWT
May 15th, 2009, 02:38 PM
Well, not all people in the Middle East walk around wearing burqas if that's what you mean. There are a lot of secular people as well as religious ones.

As for their popularity, opinion differs. Some people are monarchists and some aren't, just like anywhere in the world. Also some of these families no longer reign (like Iran and Egypt). The Iranians overthrew their monarchy in favor of a religious, theocratic state and the Egyptians overthrew theirs in favor of a secular, socialist-leaning republic (that has transmogrified into a dictatorship). So, believe it or not, people in the ME have their own opinions and they aren't ALL drones to Islam or religion.

Hi,

I am contacting you today due to a picture of Abderrahmane which you have published within this thread. Unfortunatelly, the text is not readable and neither did you mention the source. I would greatly appreciate if you could indicate to me this information. Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks. However, I am looking for the origin of this published drawing, like:
the title of the book, author, artist, year, etc.. All I could make out is that the text
below the drawing is in English. Any further info would be most welcome. Thanks in
advance.

To be honest, all these 'Agha Khans' are a bit of a disgrace. And by the way, they aren't actually royalty.. I feel sorry for people who think they are good religious figures to be respected...lol

care to elaborate??

guys i've never about aga khans ? where are they from ? can anyone give a link to read about them ?

aga khans are the descendants of fatimid caliphs, who in turn are the descendants of ismail bin jaffar, son of imam jafar al-sadiqq of shia muslims.

True. Princess Muna (Antoinette) who was the mother of the current king was British and Queen Noor (mother of Prince Hashim) was American.

Yeah they look Saudi to me too!

And if you say that Saudis are "dark-skinned" or some bullsh*t like that, then you're retarded because people in the region come in shades and tones, and you know that. Plus most look pretty Nejdi to me (half of Kuwait's population is of Najdi descent, so I would know what that looks like)

A lot of royal families have "foreign" blood, the Egyptian royal family had Albanian and Circassian backgrounds, the Jordanian and ex-Iraqi one has a Hejazi background, the Greek one has a Scandinavian background, the British one has a German background and so on and so forth..

And if you mean the way they dress, then you're wrong there too...what do "regular saudis" look like exactly?....do enlighten us.

And why would the royal family dress and look like every Joe Schmo on the street?

What an interesting thread. I never noticed!!!!

And It's true, people on Arab Royalty is really beautifull. Women are so naturaly beatiful and seem to be delicate and Men look realy just too handsome while they are young, with some exceptions... hehehe.... I realy loved this thread.

Many people of royalty actually makes me notice that Arabs and Latin American Middle Clases look realy similar, i was watching pics and I now many people in Lima that look quite similar to those in pics. I like that...

Haha.. I've alwats thought that too.. There are a lot of arabs that aren't white (or fair), but are not black or dark, per se.. Their skin tone and colouring looks a lot like that of Latin Americans.. They just tend to be a little more hairy.. haha :)

I've recently been mistaken for Brazilian a couple of times, lol.. But i'm not the best specimen of what it is to be Arab i suppose!

Those Gulf Royalties are so funny. Imposing strict rules on how the poeple should dress themselves but it doesn't count for them or what? Especially the Saudis. But they have beautiful princesses.
The egyptians look to westernized. No wonder they were overthrown.

Good thread, couple of questions:

1) How come there are black people (NOT SERVANTS or SOLDIERS) in most of these Royal Families especially the ones in the Arabian Peninsular and the Gulf?

I'm talking about the Kuwaiti, Saudi, Emirati, Omani and even UAE?

2) I think Prince Talal bin Waleed is the coolest of them all. I literally saw this dude and his entourage walking from Picadilly Circus at night to his new hotel (SAVOY) in Park lane

This was also shown on ITV , i think this cat can adjust very well even if his title were no longer there

Ras el Tin Palace, Alexandria, Egypt.

The palace has a long historical breadth across Egyptian royalty. It is one of few palaces in Egypt that witnessed the early 19th century initiation by Muhammad Ali Pasha (r. 1805-1848) of the long Muhammad Ali Dynasty. It is also where the last royal, King Farouk, signed his 1953 abdication and departed from Egypt in exile.

The Gezirah Palace was commissioned by Khedive Ismail for entertaining visiting international dignitaries during the opening of the Suez Canal. It was sold to Paul Draneht Pasha and Commander Oblieght in 1889, and by 1906 was an elegant hotel.

Gezirah Palace, Cairo, Egypt

The Gezirah Palace was commissioned by Khedive Ismail for entertaining visiting international dignitaries during the opening of the Suez Canal. It was sold to Paul Draneht Pasha and Commander Oblieght in 1889, and by 1906 was an elegant hotel.

Princess Nazli Zeinab Fazil (1853 - 28 December 1913) was an Egyptian princess from the dynasty of Muhammad Ali of Egypt and is famous for being hostess to the first modern intellectual salon in the Arab world at her palace in Cairo from the 1880s through her death.

Princess Nazli Fazil was born in Egypt, most likely in Alexandria, in 1853, the eldest child of Mustafa Fazl Pasha, son of Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt and brother of the future Khedive Isma'il Pasha, and Dilazad Hanim. At the age of 13, she left Egypt for Istanbul upon her father's falling out with his brother, the Khedive, in 1866. In Istanbul, she was highly educated, against prevailing tradition, and entertained foreign visitors.
In December of 1872, she married Turkish ambassador Halil Şerif Paşa (Khalil Bey), and moved briefly to Paris with him on his last post there. It was not a happy marriage, and her one daughter died in infancy. Upon his death, she moved back to Cairo, Egypt and settled in a palace located nearby the royal Abdeen Palace.
In this palace, she began hosting soirees, and was friendly with the intellectual elites of her day, including the Egyptians, Muhammad Abduh, Saad Zaghlul, and Qasim Amin, and the British, Lord Cromer and Herbert Kitchener. It is rumored that she was the individual who encouraged Saad Zaghlul to learn French in order to disseminate his writings more widely and also arranged his marriage to Safiyya Zaghlul. Additionally, it was at her insistence that Lord Cromer coordinated 'Abduh's return from exile in 1888.
