torke November 25th, 2007, 02:19 AM It is amazing the development of Ponferrada!! Great tower for a great town! The outskirts are really nice by the way. Someone has more pictures? What are they going to do with the tower? Apartments? Are they expensive?

chelsea2lapuebla December 7th, 2007, 07:11 PM ... really nice! West facade is being coated with an interesting wooden-like material that gives the building a unique organic look.
Another interesting fact is that shutters are made of the same material used for the facade overlap, so when closed, the "on-ground" viewer won´t be able to distinguish between facade and closed, shuttered windows. This means a completely different view of the tower on every sight. Cool! ;)
As you can see, the surroundings are quite suited for such a building. A wide green-grassed park waiting for some other singular projects coming soon.
I´m about taking a walk under its long shadow. Some pics will be posted. I promise :)

Well, most people tend to think that the whole of Spain is covered with mediterranean-type architecture, because that is the type of architecture they see when they go on holidays to the "costas". You have to consider that Spain has different types of climates depending on the area, and Ponferrada is in the north of the country and close to high mountains, so obviously its typical architecture will have more points in common with France than let's say Malaga or the portuguese Algarve...
wifirix January 2nd, 2008, 05:51 PM @westisbest: don´t worry, you are not offending us, but i have to notice you that maybe the French towns look kind Ponferrada instead of Ponfe look kind French towns. In our region we extract the 70% of the natural slate of the world. We sell it in UK, France, Germany...
Do you know for example http://www.cupagroup.com ?
In any case, my last photo is in a neighbourhood which was built by german and english engineers -many from Liverpool ;)- who came out in the early 60´s to El Bierzo to build the biggest coal power plant in Spain.

weird March 5th, 2008, 07:27 PM Yes, the low rise is the hotel. But we arent sure atm if they are gonna build the pool and plant the garden.. some forumers said that they dont know. Lets pray, 'cause it will look so much better with it :)

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7527/torre2yc6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5497/contraspo0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/1530/azoteafr0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9787/ladonortett7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/9093/azotzc8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://www.torredelarosaleda.com/estado_actual/images/13748-5.jpg
http://www.torredelarosaleda.com/Images/rosaleda03.jpg
Sukino May 12th, 2008, 01:30 PM ugly
oskar-ponfe May 13th, 2008, 12:31 PM Why is ugly?. Someone extract of the typical box of crystal and..... It is an original and different building, which tries to represent a tree (an "Encina") that has a special meaning in the zone. And certainly that for a small city is a whole achievement. It is the building more highly of the whole community of "Castilla y León". And one of the more high of Spanish northwest.
weird May 13th, 2008, 02:43 PM @Sukino: you can give your own oppinion, obviously you are free to, but maybe you should base it on a criteria, cuz it's so weak a comment who said "ugly" and not why.
I think that the tower is quite good according to the money they invest on, the population of the city, and the height, that is a remarkable one into a country that anciently dont use to build highrises.
Lets see until they put the first glass on the facade, cuz this will give us the definitely oppinion.
Its the same glass on the top that the one who is covering the back-undergrounds? :?
wifirix May 14th, 2008, 10:52 PM i think so

Jevo November 25th, 2008, 04:58 PM The following photos shown a pretty beautiful fire effect on the tower. I unknown if this effect was something made deliberately or it is by chance, but I think is amazing.
The photos was taken between 5 and 6 p.m., and the effect lasted for a few minutes.
I have decided to mantain its original size so you can better observe the fire effect.
The first one has not fire effect, and the following ones seem to be the building from the film "The Towering Inferno".

Flickr, mcpirix.
The tower is now topped out, almost complete. They're ending the last features.
If some mod could change the topic, would be perfect.
sasa_taisa January 10th, 2009, 08:54 AM Yes, but I don't like the colour.... :(
me neither. tho it does have a GREAT design, very interesting by the way.
i'm jealous!!! my city has 1, 400, 000 hab and the 'highest' rise doesn't pass the 55m.
regards from Cd. Juarez, Mexico.

Fabrega February 16th, 2009, 06:34 AM This tower is in Spain but really reminds me of Rotterdam skyline it would fit perfectly there. Seem to be so alone, it need some friends. The city is small so im suprised they even built it.
Hoogfriesland January 23rd, 2010, 02:09 PM One of the most beautiful "lower skyscrapers" in Europe.
