kidA August 6th, 2007, 08:18 AM and 4 are from California. WHOOP WHOOP
Facial August 6th, 2007, 09:13 AM Another 4 from TX, and another 4 from FL.
Los Angeles is the most visited for a variety of reasons.
alex3000 August 6th, 2007, 09:14 AM - 4 from Cal.
- 3 from SoCal.
- 2 from LA area.
milquetoast August 11th, 2007, 04:22 AM Golly, I thought New York was awesome....guess not so much...
phattonez August 11th, 2007, 05:24 AM Los Angeles is basically number 1 since Las Vegas is the world's largest tourist town. Wow, I had no idea.
Fern~Fern* August 11th, 2007, 05:59 AM You rook the words out of my mouth. I had no idea Vegas would surpass L.A. so shocking. Just in a few blocks vs an entire City, interesting?
klamedia August 12th, 2007, 09:55 PM Golly, I thought New York was awesome....guess not so much...
When on vacation most people go to places that are warm, sunny and lots of times has beaches and good weather. Doesn't mean that NYC isn't awesome....just may not be the place that most people who are trying to relax go on vacation. With deserts, beaches, forests, oceans and amusement parks all within a short drive, the LA area can't be beat(except by Vegas).
Caliguy2005 August 14th, 2007, 12:12 AM That list is Stupid and Confusing...Their basing it on Scores, rather than Visitor Numbers.
L.A should've been on the top since it is the most visited area in the Country.
L.A's Visitors Numbers are Amazing, and City Officials and Developers should take notice and start building more Hotels,Stores,Restaurants,Clubs,Bars,Pubs,Etc to accomodate these Visitors.
With over 58 Million Visitors Yearly,L.A should have the most Hotel Rooms in the Country, and is capable of creating an Entertainment District larger than The Las Vegas Strip, and L.A is also capable of creating more than one Entertainment District, since their are many Attractions throughout the Metro Area.
The Tourism Industry in L.A has Enormous Potential.

You're damn right! I totally agree with you. L.A. also needs a new global image; i mean L.A. is not easy to understand, you must live here to really understand it. I think the moviemade image is not enoough, it needs more tourism advertising or something like that. I'm so sick to hear (expecially in Europe) that the major tourist attractions are Miami, cities on the east coast, or San Francisco or Orlando.
This is not true, and that list confirm that the people who think like that are SO WRONG.
L.A. is NOT just Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood or Beverly Hills... is MUCH more. The numbers of that list maybe confirm that a LOT of people know that. Do you believe...? Rome (I repeat, Rome) have (only?) 30 mln visitors per year...
Fern~Fern* August 14th, 2007, 05:28 AM Well certainly something happening here if our numbers are so high. What I would suggest a better Marketing Scheme to bring in more Tourist. Also The L.A. City Counsel and those big decision makers up in City Hall should make minor adjustments....
1. Last call 4am
2. Curb pick up (Taxi's)
3. 24 hour Train Service
4. 24 hour Casinos (L.A. Live & Downtown)
5. Free internet everywhere
6. Restaurants open till 2am
Just to name a few ideas...
Caliguy2005 August 14th, 2007, 10:16 AM If L.A does market itself aggressively to a Global Market, this region could easily reach the 100 Million Mark in Annual Visitors.
L.A has 2 things that other Tourist Destinations in the Country don't have and that's the "Variety" and "Year-Round Mild Weather".
Wake Up L.A ! and realize your True Potential

I'm usually going down I-15 about the same time Angelenos are coming here. I always wondered if downtown would open a casino. If downtown L. A. opened a major hotel/casino, Las Vegas style with Las Vegas numbers: 2.5 billion, all those people who suffer that desert drive, WOULD BE DOWNTOWN! It would hurt Vegas greatly, but might crush L. A. You would have to use the profits for 10,000 more police officers almost immediately! Big time gaming would not be regulated in Los Angeles as well as it is in Las Vegas because, California would want to do it their way, and all would be lost. But if it could be managed, it would change Southern California OVERNIGHT, though turn it into a bigger Vegas. Blah!:bash:
Caliguy2005 August 14th, 2007, 01:09 PM Maybe One Enormous Las Vegas Style Hotel/Casino will be ok as it will cater to a Variety of Visitors to Downtown, but L.A needs to stay clear of becoming another Adult Oriented Destination like Vegas, and continue to remain a Destination for All Ages & Types :)

yeah ur right having a casino in the downtown area would quickly fill the downtown area but i think a downtown mall like the one they just opened in china which is like 7 stories would be huge. malls attract people. if LA does get a mall make it into a tall building atleast 13 stories. that would be big and it will fill the areas with people like LA live is going to do but maybe with more people bcuz look at ontario mills mall, so many people goes there and it be packed but image if it was in LA
klamedia August 15th, 2007, 05:11 AM LA Live and Grand Ave is good enough for now. These two (I'm betting more on the former) will spur all types of residential and business booms downtown. I predict that lining Washington Ave will be lofts overlooking the run of the Blue Line train.......sometime in the future.

From wiki:
The Greater Los Angeles Area, or the Southland, is the agglomeration of urbanized area around the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. There are two "official" definitions—the Los Angeles metropolitan area consisting only of Los Angeles and Orange County, and the Combined Statistical Area (a group of interacting metropolitan areas) sprawled over five counties in the southern part of California, namely Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County and Ventura County. A common unofficial definition includes the region ranging from Ventura County to the southwestern area of San Bernardino County. It is not always meaningful to refer to Los Angeles as a distinct city, and people outside of Southern California often refer to the entire region as L.A. even though it includes five counties, more than 100 distinct municipalities, and more people than any individual state except for Texas, New York, Florida, and California itself.
The region contains some of the most affluent areas of the country, namely in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. It has been one of fastest growing regions in the United States for decades, first in Los Angeles County, then Orange County, and now in the Inland Empire. As of 2005, the official estimate of the population of the Los Angeles metropolitan area is more than 12.9 million, while the larger five-county region has a population of over 17.6 million. Either definition makes it the second-largest core-based statistical area[2] in the country, behind the New York metropolitan area. The U.S. Bureau of the Census has designated the five county region as the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside consolidated area, with a July 1, 2006 population estimate of 17,776,000[3]. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Los Angeles metropolitan area has a total area of 4,850 square miles (12,562 kmē), while the wider combined statistical area covers 33,954 square miles (87,941 kmē), but more than half of this is the sparsely populated eastern areas of Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
