I prefer 3 colors on different floors than just one simple orange.
The progress is quite fast.
Can you tell me the cost of the stadium? Without land costs, just the construction.

well, that it is not 100% right... the construction of the towers was on hold after the accident but in the mean time they were working in other parts of the stadium (I think they just stopped working 2 days because of the tragic accident)

The construction of the carcass of this stadium is not a big thing...The construction of the interior will be much harder than anyone thinks...

skaP187
August 4th, 2008, 08:11 PM
If you say the building of the carcass is not a big thing well...

Dutch_Mentor
August 5th, 2008, 04:31 PM
I also think that the construction of the main structure is much more complex than the construction of the carcass. Placing the different parts of the carcass shouldn't be a big issue...

Maybe someone has experienced/followed the construction of a stadium with carcass and say smth about it.

Absolutely brilliant. Valencia has awesome squad, i still don't understand what happened last year. With new stadium and if they keep their main stars hopefully they will win the title again very soon. Tho i gotta admit that i will miss the old Mestalla, even tho its a dump, its still impressive and its true classic of Euro football.

The area immediately around the stadium and the exterior of the stadium is definitely a dump.

But inside it's still hugely impressive for it's steep stands.

what is the population of Valencia?

The stadium will have a metro station right beside and a tram station 200 meters away. The city population is 800.000 and with suburbs 1.7 million.

The construction is going along great I can't wait to see this stadium when it's finished. This stadium is definitely a sign of Valencia meaning business and I’m sure that they will start competing with Real and Barca more consistently.
Can someone tell a rough timeline of construction such as when the roof will start being built and when seats shall be fitted etc?

Less money, slower. The money marks the pace of works.

What a fantastic construction speed for this incredible new Valencia Stadium! That a big piece is build below the street level makes sure that the building will not dominate its environment and the Valencia skyline too much. It will at least be "hiding" some of its big size for the average pedestrian walking by!

Nice pics.

Btw I read on Stadionwelt.de today that the President of Valencia recently said that the stadium will now have athletic tracks and it will be delayed because of that.

I thought it was always clear that the stadium can be turned into an atheltics stadium with moveable stands.
It sounds pretty ridicoulous to think about adding athletic tracks when big parts of the stadium are already built.

Can anyone clear this up?

That is not true. Simply being explored to make changes in the assembly system of athletic tracks. The project has not changed, it remains a stadium without the athletics tracks by default.

Yeah but it is a generic name of the kind of "new stadium for Valencia C.F."

I think meanwhile there's no sponsorship the name of the project should be the most named in Valencia "Nou Mestalla"

No, it can't be recognized as official because Valencian is a sub-dialect of Catalan. The Valencian Generalitat (local government) may consider it as such, but not the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language. Dialects can't be official languages.

well, do not start the same discussion as always...

Valencian is considered by SOME linguists as a sub-dialect of Catalan...

anyway, it is an official language (otherwise, why my ID is in both languages if it is not an official language??) Why you have to show up and that u can talk Valencian to work for the government (in this area of Spain) passing an official exam??

End of discussion  (this thread is not to talk about this topic)

The "Valenciano" si recognized in Estatut of Valencian Generalitat and in The spanish Constitutión because said that local governament can recognizes languages co-officials in the estatut.

Probably the lengauge is the same that catalan, but the official name in Comunitat Valenciana is VALENCIANO. Legally the name in Valencia is Valenciano.

Could you elaborate on where this information came from and what the reason for this would be?

It's a information from a Interview to Valencia CF's President (Vicente Soriano).

The changes between season could be a problem for the people because is a lot of changes in theirs position of seats, the employments, stewards... It's necessary time in order to adaptation.

Much as its a prime target as far as damage and human cost is concerned, I just can't see terrorists targetting football stadiums.

I mean, unless Valencia play a match against Al Qaeda FC and absolutely batter them or something.

Terror wants you to fear going somewhere (sub-ways, Airplanes, shopping markets) Disrupt life. A bombing A Sporting event aired on TV with 70,000 people dead at that venue would make 9/11 look like a good day. Im just saying, i would never build a stadium with a parking garage under it.

By that logic, then no large building should have an underground parking garage...

I don't know the comedian that said this, but "The quote 'There are no atheists in foxholes' is not an argument against atheists.... its an argument against foxholes..."

Of course there is that danger, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have large underground parking garages. Just like we shouldn't build every skyscraper as a fortress against being hit by a plane.

I am pretty sure that the car park spaces are for VIP's (exec suites, players etc.) so to be honest I think they are probably pretty safe. I was under the impression that VIP car park bunkers was common practice in the US especially in the NFL?

To be honest not having those car park spaces would cause far more problems then it would solve.

well, do not start the same discussion as always...

And who the hell are you to decide when a discussion begins or ends?
Get off your high horse, creep.
Valencian might be considered an official language in Valencia, but for the rest of Spain it is nothing more than a sub-dialect of Catalan.

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/25112008001.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/25112008003.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/25112008006.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0001-1.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0002-1.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0002-1.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0003-2.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0006-2.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0011-1.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0013-3.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0014-2.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0015-2.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0019-1.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/PIC_0023.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/Panorama1-3.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/DSC00356.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/DSC00360.jpg

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/TiTiLL0/Panorama2-1.jpg

I like this stadium and I am amazed by how quickly it has gone up.

But I have to say that I am not a fan of these "petals" (for want of a better word) at the top of the upper tier.

They add nothing, IMO, to the aesthetic of the stadium. They just look fussy. They remind me of the edges of a lace doily. It would have been far better just to have a straight rim to the upper tier.

Great looking stadium, yet I can't help but think it looks like many of the oval/bed pan shaped stadiums that have been built recently.

As I am not well versed in European football or the needs of the teams in building new stadiums, perhaps someone could let me know why so many stadiums seem to follow this general form? Just a trend? Is there some function to the form? I understand the need for the partial roofs... is this design the simplest way to satisfy that need?

Thanks in advance!

2009 December.

Great looking stadium, yet I can't help but think it looks like many of the oval/bed pan shaped stadiums that have been built recently.

Thanks in advance!

Several reasons:

-Better visibility from all seats.
-Better acoustics = increased environmental pressure
-Aesthetic trend.

Additionally... all those levels below street level: underground parking?

There goes the parking + basement of a building annexe.

AvFenix - thanks for the reply. I wasn't asking so much about the interior (emphasis on the seating bowl) but more about the exterior.

I feel as though I've seen this exterior style (Allianz, here, one or two for the South Africa World Cup) gaining some traction and being featured more and more in football stadiums around the world. You apparently chalk it up to an aesthetic trend... very interesting.

Thanks again.

I bet by an average attendance around 60,000 spectators.

I heard on the radio that Valencia financialy is in rough wheather.
They have not sold the plots where their current stadium is. If they do not sell these plots before the 31st of January they will be getting problems with paying the salary of the players.
The crisis comes at a very bad time for Valencia I guess.

the stadium actually looks pretty cool. I have read on one website that the opening of stadium will be in august 2010 (planned). Well atleast the team Valencia will get a better stadium, and with a roof (since the stadium they have now doesnt have a roof)

My friend, it's Valencia!

Why it's so needed a roof? To protect you of good weather? ;)

have you heard of insolation? i wouldn't want to be under the sun for 2.5 hours on a hot summer day...

Yeah, defenitily you see reports of at least 200 viewers in Valencia Stadium taked to the hospital with insolation every game.

Of course that the roof increases the confort but it's something not so necessary in Valencia as it can be in Kiev, for example.
And don´t forget that most of the games are played at night, or after 4pm.

In Valencia, usually, there are no games in summertime with sunlight. Only at night.

But , of course, the roof protects you from the rain (3 or 4 games a season) or sometimes from the excess of light, when the match is played soon in the evening (5 or 6 p.m).... besides for aesthetic reasons...

I always thought that the third tier was shaped like that to allow supports for the roof.

What a great looking stadium...it will be a great asset for the people of Valencia. A couple of questions..

1. How much has been budgeted for the project
2. Who is the owner (City Council, Valencia FC, or a private investor)?

...roughly translates as:

"The new Mestalla will be a magnificent stadium. Finally, Valencia will have a stadium that is worthy of them. Does anyone know when it will open?"

JimB
February 2nd, 2009, 04:10 AM
1. 350 million €
2. The owner is the club although the stadium will have its naming rights sold

Do you know whether the project is proceeding on budget? If so, €350 million seems a real bargain for the size and quality of the stadium.

I believe, though, that Valencia CF have some financial difficulties. Will the new stadium earn the club enough money to pay for the construction? In other words, will crowds be big enough, do you think?

Official information is Valencia sells 45 000 season tickets and has a 20 000 waiting list, so supposedly yes. Though I'm not sure how it really works in their Spanish "socios" system...

I don't suppose you can translate it. Very sad this, I was looking forward to it being built, I like Valencia and I was looking forward to them becoming a genuine power in Spanish and world football thanks to the added revenue this stadium would bring in for them.
