You can't blame SM for coming and coming to your province. We all know that Cavite is one of the most highly-urbanized provinces in our country plus the fact that it has one of the highest PPP. SM wants to prosper as a business, think of that. But on the contrary, I like your point about the traffic. Maybe SM could think again if it would cause such heavy traffic there.

...and SM may for sure kill businesses in Tagaytay City if it proceeds with its plan to set-up a mall in that area! That according to a friend of mine who owns a business there.

^^ That's always given. When a big business comes, small businesses suffer.

^ Indeed. As an addition, to compensate for the small businesses they killed, the big businesses also give mass-employment :D

Well I'm not really into the idea of having these malls everywhere. I mean one or two malls are enough in some small town. But building several malls, each atleast 1-2km apart is too much.

pahabol: sa mga taga-bacoor, binabaha pa ba sa may justinville? we have a lot in luzville (inside justinville) and we were supposed to be build our house there. kaso when our family friend and would-be-neighbor-there told me na dati binaha sila hanggang tuhod sa loob ng bahay ng mismo, na-discourage tuloy sina mudra.

I have a friend who lives in Justinville. As far as I know hindi sila binabaha sa loob. Siguro may certain areas lang na binabaha.

Good thing though about Justinville is the road outside the village. Sawakas after 4 years of road renovating naayos na rin nila. :D

I remember Cavite City with fondness. During summertime, I would visit with my cousins, who lived on Cabanela St. and Lino Barron Street in Barrior San Antonio. I remember we would alight from Saulog or San Rafael bus in front of the church (is it Ntra Sra de Caridad, I may be wrong), take a jeepney from there, tell the driver where we were going, and presto, he'd drop us off. I remember Cavite City as Sangley Point, US Navies, px goods, and a lot more: friendly people, jeepneys who ply their routes all over the city, sandy roads, tall coconut trees, etc. My cousins neighbor was Baby Bukol, who later became a popular sex siren by the name of Divina Valencia, hmmm, really it's been a long time. I also remember friends who lived there and went with me to Don Bosco (SLV). If I remember right, their surnames were Gutierrez and Santiago. Hey, guys are you still there?! I just love Cavite City, and hope that someday I could visit the place again, even for 1 day.

Si! :) Meron pa rin kahit papaano. Pero most of our parents do not pass the language anymore. Such a shame. Though I myself am trying to learn the language for it not to become a dead dialect. :)

I live near Cabanela. About 5 streets away. The San Rafael Bus Line doesn't exist anymore only Saulog and Saint Anthony.

Unfortunately, the city has not been able to develop like its neighbors because of lack of space and the lack of demand for businesses to spur.

haaay talaba, nothing compares with cavite's talaba talaga! pero yung butil medyo nawawala na, im crazy with butil pa naman, everytime nagbabakasyon ako sa cavite (at siempre to reconnect with my roots) my lola will always buy them sa palengke.

and the PX goods, galeng talaga dati, its the only public market that i know na merong PX section, may tindahan dati ang lola ko doon, from imported toys, underwears, shirts at ang walang kamatayang pringles at peanut butter. everything px, sabi nga nila there was a time daw na halos USdollar na ang ginagamit na pera within cavite city.

pero its a different story now, hahay. ang sarap mag reminisce!

kung may isang legacy lang ang iniwan ang mga kano sa cavite city yun ang ang availability ng 110V socket. hehehe, at siempre, most of the old-timers are in the states na. thanks to the US navy!

Bacoor:
I'm not sure if Brgy.

Yikes! We don't care if Bacoor hit 100% urbanity kasi wala akong urbanidad na nakikita. =)

About sa traffic, sana i-try yung 3:1 ratio. Malay natin, effective din. :)

Imus:
Sana ayusin nila yung bayan, yung may welcome to Imus kasi ampangit na nya tingnan since nagsarado yung petron dun. sana idevelop uli yung lugar.

Dasmariñas:
I cannot think of any suggestions pa sa dasma kasi progressive at maganda na e. I just hope they will continue to urbanize & beautify the town-not just the areas near poblacion but the poorer areas in Bagong Bayan as well. Sana maging city na talaga in the near future kasi marami makikinabang na residents. In the future, this will rival any cities in Metro Manila like Marikina City.

In general, i hope mawala na talaga yung traffic sa Cavite. I hope mag-improve at mag-progress pa lalo lahat ng towns.

---

10-20 years from now:
-tapos na ang LRT extension.
-Aguinaldo highway maybe renamed Aguinaldo Avenue. (hehe)
-Skyways & flyovers in Bacoor-Imus-Dasma.
-Bacoor will be clean again. (hopefully)
-If ever maging city ang Bacoor, Imus and Dasma., possible maging part sila ng Metro Manila. (I hope not because there's really no need)
-Dasmariñas will be super progressive. From an industrial area, magiging commercial area na rin sya. This may rival Marikina/Parañaque/Las Piñas.
-Cavite may have central business district ala-The Fort/Filinvest Corp. City in Dasma-Gen.Tri area.
-Trece Martires will still be the seat of government of Cavite.
-General Trias & Carmona will be the next big thing.
-Gen. Trias-Trece Martires area will be highly industrialized. More factories.
-G.M.A.-Carmona area will be highy industrialized too. A shopping center may sprout here soon.
-Cavite City will be revived. The coastal towns will also continue to progress.
-Upland Cavite will still be food bastion of Metro Manila.
-Cavite will still be the most highly urbanized province in our country.

ang dapat mawala sa dasma is yung criminality. i went to DLSU-D and the situation hits home. ang dami kong kaibigan na nanakawan, na-aksidente...yung isang staff sa dept. namin, he was stabbed to death by robbers just outside his own home. theory ko lang, palibhasa kasi ang dami nang mga dayo sa dasma kaya yung iba, walang respeto sa lugar at sa mga kapwa nila. this is most particular in the DBB and Paliparan areas.

In general, i hope mawala na talaga yung traffic sa Cavite. I hope mag-improve at mag-progress pa lalo lahat ng towns.

medyo malayo pa tayo sa laguna. napakagandang lugar ng Laguna. the place seems so peaceful and serene yet progressive.

-Aguinaldo highway maybe renamed Aguinaldo Avenue. (hehe)

misnomer no? di naman kasi talaga siya hi-way e. pwede ka pang magpatintero dun:lol:

-Dasmariñas will be super progressive. From an industrial area, magiging commercial area na rin sya. This may rival Marikina/Parañaque/Las Piñas.

you think parañaque is nice? i don't think so. sa baclaran pa lang e...:ohno:

ang laguna parang may mga ganyan na e, unti-unti nang lumilitaw ang mga business district. all we need to do is be at par with them. ang edge kasi ng laguna maganda ang klima nila. biyaya sa kanila ang Sierra Madre at Makiling.

and i agree with you, Carmona and Gen Tri has a lot of potential to succeed. pero siyempre wag din nating kalimutan yung mga farm lands, dapat pangalagaan din yun.

Actually it already has a reclaimed area but it is unused (Except for the public market). I think its better for demand to come in first by building industrial parks. This way, people will have a reason to go into the city as well as locals not to look for work outside. When this happens, demand for businesses like restaurants will spur because consumer spending will grow. Then since space is scarce, construction should go up literally. But there is a local building code saying that no building should be more than 10 storeys. I dunno why. Maximize space by carefully planning every detail :) That's what I think.

Yeah. Go for Green Development. Progress will spur but our environment doesn't suffer. :) When I think about it also, the fishing industry of the Cavite City as well as the Coastal Towns of Noveleta, Rosario, Kawit and others could help spur development in these areas.

No, you are not going to reclaim the vast, whole sea - because that's not possible. Will you lose the precious sea, in the process, when you reclaim a part of it? Again, the answer is no. Mapapaganda pa nga siguro, like the reclaimed area by the Manila Bay. Yun namang mga mangingisda, hindi sila maaapektuhan, baka gumanda pa ang kita nila dahil gaganda ang ekonomiya ng Cavite City: more people will come to Cavite City, more consumer spending, more business, more jobs. Lahat makikinabang, walang maiiwanan.

Think of Hong Kong . . . they reclaimed part of their sea to build on it one of the largest airports in the world. They do not have a problem doing that.

Think of Dubai . . . they keep on reclaiming their sea to build communities, spur business growth. Dubai built on a reclaimed area the tallest hotel building in the world.

Think of Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia: these countries keep on reclaiming the sea. And they are all successful.

Then you have the Arabian Gulf, where GCC States like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait are getting water to desalinate. They get a steady supply of water from the said sea inspite of the reclamation activities going on in the area. And mind you, their fish and other sea produce harvests have never been lessened nor threatened. They've always been abundant.

Iyun namang pag-alaga sa Mother Nature, thumbs up ako diyan. Hindi naman porke't ni-reclaim mo ang dagat, you're messing up with Mother Nature already. Basta ba tama ang trabaho (reclamation) walang magiging problema. What we need to do is to educate the people properly on how to take good care of Mother Nature. Iyan ang tinatawag na paglabag sa cardinal rule: do not mess up with Mother Nature.

Well, they should know the reason behind it, I believe. I've never been in Cavite City for decades, so I really don't know what's going on there. I wish it luck!

Honest opinion ko lang ito. Peace po.

um...medyo ni-literal niyo po ang post ko.:) what i was worried about was the pollution and ecological upheaval that reclamation would bring. this in particular affects the fishermen directly. if reclamation happens, baka makarating pa sila sa kung saan just to get fish. what i would like to see is direct help to the fishermen and their livelihood.

we don't have to think of other nations or cities because we certainly don't have the kind of resources and technology that they do. IMO, reclamation isn't really a good a idea, dahil kung science ang pag-uusapan, di ba laging gumagalaw ang lupa kaya in the end, baka damage lang ang dalhin ng mga reclaimed areas.

opinion din lamang po. peace out! :okay:

“He (Borja) is due for reshuffle,” ani Pagdilao.

Terraza Dasma is part of the expansion of the Robinson's Place Dasma. It is composed of clusters of popular restaurants and bistros and is already operational. :)

ooohh...thanks for the info! i wasn't able to check the place when i went to dasma last week, but i'll try to see it the next time i go there.

i was able to see the changes at the Congressional Ave. area (leading to DLSU-D) and i should say i'm impressed! sobrang ganda na nga. although nagmukhang maliit yung daanan dahil sa islands na tinayo. but hey, if it makes traffic more orderly and less difficult, e di okay!

Sunset from Cavite City looks really nice. :)

it is! i love seeing the sunset especially if you see it from the checkpoint/Long Beach areas. and especially when the sun turns red.;)

Seldom do people use Chavacano. Only a few know the dialect. I personally believe that the dialect should be taught just like Cebuanos are taught Tagalog. It would be cool if Cavite City has a dialect of its own.

And also, Corrigedor has been part of Cavite since the time of the Americans (Early 1900's). I think the reason for it was because Corrigedor was a Naval Site. It housed a lighthouse that monitors who goes in and out of Manila Bay. And the nearest Naval Base to it was Sangley Point. Therefore, it was just a logical choice that Corregidor be part of the City because both the Island and Sangley Point's purpose was to protect the capital, Manila.

Cavite City, like most low lying coastal cities in the world, is in danger due to the threat of global warming ang rising sea level... alam ko sa vicinity ng SM bacoor bumabaha pag umulan ng malakas...

does the local govt has any contingency at this point?...

Actually sa Cavite City, despite of being a Coastal City, flooding is seldom. The most flood prone area is San Antonio. But for Caridad and the other districts of Cavite City, seldom. This is because streets were raised. During Typhoon Milenyo, there was flooding here in Cavite but it was low unlike in places like Noveleta and General Trias were land is higher.

Thanks mygz chavacano can be taught and use again , Zamboanga City is reviving chavacano thru the initiative of their local government and tourism , i hope Cavite City can do it too.btw in Davao we have Davaoeno-Chavacano before , i am still researching if the Zamboangoeno , Caviteno and Davaoeno Chavacano have the same words and intonation.

i'd beg to disagree on some points there. kahit San Antonio lang ang flood-prone, it should still be a cause for worry. nitong mga nakaraang taon lang, hindi kailangan ng bagyo para magkaroon ng mataas na baha sa Sangley-San Antonio areas. high tide lang, pwede nang pumasok sa loob ng bahay ang tubig. naranasan namin ito noong mga 2002 pa lang, nung nakatira pa kami sa loob ng base. ngayon, ganoon pa rin ang sitwasyon.

at, konting ok-ok detail lang: flooding is seldom, not flooding are seldom (singular lang po ang flooding):D

actually, ZC doesn't need to revive it since they speak it everyday. what they can do is to enrich it further especially through literature, para pag-gayahan din ng Cavite.

you should research too on the differences between the Cavite City and Ternate variants, since the Chavacano in Ternate is Portuguese-based. if it's any help, i did an article on the dialect a few years ago and we printed in our magazine ('twas a school requirement;) ). i can send you a copy if you'd like. :)

Yeah...Hahaha. Sorry bout that. Anyway, I'm not worried because the local government has been continously improving the sewage system dito. Kaya naman kasi bumabaha sa San Antonio is because ung sewerage system is bad. Puro bara ang nasa mga canal. :)

Lam nyo, pinagdebatehan namin to noong Grade 4 hanggang high school:

Direk Joel admits entertaining thoughts about running.

Naibalita pagkatapos nito na tatakbo bilang mayor ng Cavite City si Direk Joel and will run for the administration party.

Joel has been known to be a very avid and vocal supporter of the opposition. During the last presidential election, isa si Direk Joel sa mga frontliners ng nasirang Hari ng Pelikulang Pilipino na si Fernando Poe Jr., who ran against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Noon pa lang, na-explain na ni Direk Joel that the picture in question has nothing to do with a concrete plan of him running for office. May ibibigay lang daw kasing provincial position ang pamahalaan sa kanya and it was about a project concerning arts and films.

Explaining further, Direk Joel said that when some people in the administration talked with him about this, kung nagkaroon man siya ng initial interest, hindi na rin naman siya nag-pursue about this.

Mas gusto na lang ni Direk Joel to make movies. Once in a while naman, he can express his political beliefs through his films.

May i shout "Hooray!!!"? We had enough of the Revillas, Remullas, Maliksi, Jessie B. Castillo & other trashy politicians. Every city & municipality of Cavite deserves a better & qualified leader and not just those ones active supporter of the opposition.

To the moderators, i have a favor. Could you please change the thread title to Cavite-The Historic & the Most Urbanized Province? Something like that will do. The current thread title speaks nothing about this great province. Thanks! :)

estoy de acuerdo--i agree with you! buti na lang di na sasawsaw si Joel Lamangan sa pulitika. siguro nga naisip niyang mas mainam na magpahayag ng pananaw sa pamamagitan ng pelikula. kas kung tatakbo nga siya dapat noon pa siya nagparamdam. and there certainly other better ways to serve the people without having to run for public office.

and about our thread title--perhaps the one who made this thread had a question in mind. ano nga ba ang Kabite ngayon? i don't have any problems with the title; the way i see it, it encourages us to discuss what the province symbolizes now and how it has been shaping itself. we don't just discuss what's great and what is currently going on. tsaka ayaw niyo nun, astig tayo dahil kakaiba! ;)

ika nga... today it is Cavite's "second revolution" --- the "Industrial Revolution"

... the "first revolution" being the push for independence...:)

I believe Cavite is the most Industrialized Province in the country today...

The good hotels that I know are: Days Hotel rates: $70 - $140 (USD). Taal Vista Hotel rates: P 2450 - P 2650 (PHP). Days Inn Then they also have Estancia Hotel and MC Mountain Home apartelle...
Then some, yung mga houses dyan nagpaparent sila. You have the option to rent the whole house or the rooms. :)

Cavite for Team Unity -- Revilla
By: Ryan Ponce Pacpaco
SEN. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. declared that majority of the local leaders in Cavite will support Team Unity’s senatorial candidates in the May 14 elections.

Revilla issued the statement despite the continued jockeying of Gov. Ireneo “Ayong” Maliksi and Vice Gov. Johnvic Remulla for Cavite’s top elective posts.

The senator assured that the people of Cavite would go straight for the senatorial bets of the administration party. “Suportado namin sila, tamang-tama ang Team Unity sa lalawigan ng Cavite. May assurance na magiging matahimik at mapayapa ang halalan,” said Revilla, who hosted a dinner attended by political giants like Maliksi and Remulla Sunday night.

The administration party held the “Pulong Sulong” dialogue between senatorial candidates and local officials in the province after the successful campaign rallies in Laguna, Quezon and Batangas over the weekend.

Those who attended the dialogue were Surigao del Sur Rep. Prospero Pichay, Bukidnon Rep. Juan Miguel Zubiri, actor Cesar Montano and Jamalul Kiram.

bawal po ata kasi maglabas ng pondo pag election period... pero malamang tatapusin rin nila yan... alam ko un coastal road to cavite city is a priority project (under the luzon urban beltway). And the 4 lane road at dominic hospital would surely ease traffic in that vicinity...

i also hope matapos na ang road widening and repair of bridges sa governor's drive (ito un road from carmona-trece-naic)... kung ang region 3 merun "subic-clark-tarlac expressway", dapat siguro gawin nila ito na "rosario-dasmarinas-carmona-binan tollroad"... puro economic zones dito at magbebenefit talaga ang marami...:)

Notice Governor's Drive (the road connecting Naic to Carmona)... this is the only "major" hi-way which traverses Cavite from East to West... I believe our officials know how important this road is, and I hope they would expedite the improvement of this road... but I guess this is not considered as a provincial road, but a national road instead.

Arroyo’s birthday ‘gift’ to Revilla: Sangley Point

By Nini Valera
Inquirer
Last updated 05:33am (Mla time) 03/09/2007

MANILA, Philippines -- Ramon Revilla Sr., who turned 80 on Thursday, got his birthday wish to convert Sangley Point in Cavite province into an international container port and special economic zone.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, a special guest of Revilla’s during his birthday bash on Wednesday night, told the former senator and action star to prepare the executive order that would make his birthday wish come true.

Revilla made the request in an impromptu but emotional speech at the end of a concert featuring some of his children and grandchildren, and some of the country’s top entertainment personalities.

Unlike Subic Naval Base, Clark Air Base, Fort Bonifacio and Villamor Air Base, Sangley Point is not under the jurisdiction of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, which was created by law to convert military bases into special economic zones.

In the next Congress, Revilla’s son, senator and actor Bong Revilla, will be filing a bill seeking the conversion of Sangley Point into a special economic zone and work on having the bill certified as urgent by the President, according to the older Revilla.

The Revillas have been pushing for the conversion of Sangley Point into a container port since Bong was governor of Cavite from 1998 to 2001.

Addressing the President in his speech, the older Revilla said, “I hope to see you again next year when I turn 81.”

He said that he had moved his birthday party a day earlier so that the President, who had a full schedule on March 8, could come.

Speaking mostly in Filipino, Revilla said he did not want the President to miss his party so he decided to advance the date even if it meant that some of his children based abroad could not make it to the event.

With the conversion of Sangley Point into a International Container Port and Special Economic Zone, the City and the entire province of Cavite will definitely benefit from it.
For the city, locals would no longer look for work outside because it is already available inside. Also, the said conversion would spur business activity in the city.

Hopefully, developments of once "backwaters" of Molino and Paliparan will continue since it will really be one of the major solutions of decongesting the Aguinaldo Highway area.

Finally, Sangley will be converted to what it has been during the Spanish Era. A Port of Call. :okay:

I didn't mean to get mis-interpreted :ohno: ... as I said the terrain is "a bit" rugged... that does not mean mountains are present in the area... those could be rolling terrain and or deep rivers... when you pass Daang Hari road or in Dasma Orchard (road from Aguinaldo hwy to Paliparan road) you will notice the rolling terrain I am pertaining to... even the Susana Hts section of South Expressway was carved out of rolling hills, but not mountains (also try to exit South Woods, look to the north-west and see more rolling hills towards the direction of Dasma-Muntinlupa boundary... at pansin nyo ba na ang rivers sa Binakayan/Bacoor mababaw compared to Dasma/Gen. M. Alvarez rivers... got my point?... sorry for the confusion...

Aside from the little ruggedness of the terrain, I believe the reason they haven't put a road on the Dasma-Muntinlupa boundary at this time is because the area is not really developed yet... maybe there are trails or narrow roads at the moment. And Daang Hari is serving its purpose so funds should be spent somewhere else (like widening of Governor's Drive)...

They need to repair portions of Aguinaldo hwy from Bacoor to Dasma/Silang boundary...

They need to widen Governor's drive...

They need to put by-pass roads in Gen. M. Alvarez and Imus...

They need to erect a flyover on the corner of Governor's and Aguinaldo hwy...

Depends. From what part of GenTri? There are three ways to go to Makati from GenTri. One would be via Governor's Drive then drive towards Carmona to reach SLEX. Another would be via Centennial Road. You'll end up at Kawit and then from there, make your way to Bacoor and then Coastal Road. Last would be via Aguinaldo Highway. It depends on which part of GenTri will you be coming from.

About the LRT.
PHASE 1: Baclaran to Niog, Bacoor.
PHASE 2: Niog, Bacoor - Imus
PHASE 3: Imus - Dasmarinas

@bonixx: Sana nga maging city na. The opposers are the poor people at former resettlement areas such as DBB(Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan) & Paliparan Site and the hundreds of companies at the industrial parks because it means higher wages for their workers. According to a friend, the open spaces at the Mangubat Avenue are really reserved for these high rise buildings so we may expect more to come in the future.

^^ I agree Dasma. is complete. I hope it becomes a city now since it's been overqualified to be one since the 90's. The local government needs more fund for health, road & housing projects for the underdeveloped resettlement areas of Bagong Bayan and Paliparan. The pictures I'm showing here are just the urban areas & not the depressed ones. You'll see that there's a big disparity between the resettlements areas & other barangays and I hope this will not be another Makati in the making. Dasma. has been the recipient of squatters from Metro Manila since the Marcos era & the town wholeheartedly accepted them even if they got little or no help from the national government. I just hope it gets prioritized this time. :(

Cavite is not a good place to live. The province is full of Lacson goons, kidnappers & hostage-takers. Sorry, but I don't trust people who live in Cavite.

:wtf:

What a grave insult!!! This is totally absurd!!! I felt like I was physically lambasted. Few minutes after reading this, I finally retained my composure.

I can say that what you've said are purely based on presumptions! While you are probably the only one that says Cavite is not a good place to live, there are more than 2 MILLION people who thinks otherwise and still choose to call it HOME. :) And if you do not trust anyone who live in Cavite, that's just a wicked generalization! I'm happy to inform you that many multinational companies in different industrial parks & estates here have trusted the ability of the intelligent & industrious Caviteños.

You are definitely not aware that Cavite has one of the most dynamic economy in our country. Being in close proximity to the NCR, it has been a home to many of their working class. The booming real estate industry in this province just proves that this place is a GOOD PLACE TO LIVE. Cavite is basked in the tranquility of nature and with comforts of urban living. What could be better than that? :)

Saying that Cavite is full of Lacson goons, kidnappers and hostage-takers is such a bold statement to make. With this, I'm asking you to explain further on this with matching evidences to prove your claims.

It's really unfair that this province has been tagged as haven for these criminals. I somehow attribute it to how the mass media has portrayed Cavite for many years. (Like if a drug pusher/addict or kidnapper is nabbed at Cavite, then it's really a BIG DEAL!!! But if they were caught in other place like somewhere in Rizal, it won't get much attention!) It was also exaggerated in many of Ramon Revilla films showing Cavite full of hoodlums where he can use his amulets against them. (Still a very bad image for Cavite) Others may argue that this may also be due to increasing crime rates but this is the same thing happening in Metro Manila & other highly urbanized cities. Cavite, of course, is not spared from this. Increasing population and being host of relocated slum dwellers/squatters are just some factors. However, the province's Crime Solution Efficiency is 91.56% which is pretty good.

I'm just surprised there are still pea-brained Filipinos existing now. Come on? This is how our culture & mass media has stereotyped them for many generations. We're already at the 21st century & I hope every Filipinos will get rid of this silly impressions & irrational beliefs. Grow up!

On a personal note mr. sandrn a.k.a. sandrin(already BANNED): The thread is not the proper avenue to air out your grievance towards the people of Cavite. I really hope that you'll be able to redeem yourself from karma with your arrogance & display of indecorous behavior.

Lets take this with a grain of salt... Sandrn sounding-off like he has a vendetta or grudge to Cavite is not good to hear... he might be mis-informed, or perhaps he, or someone he knew, had a bad experience in Cavite. But this forum is not the proper place to air such grievance or concern. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this thread has earned respect like any other thread in this forum. Please just don't spill it like that.

You don't like Cavite, its fine... You dont need to shout about it here... we don't expect everyone to like Cavite as we do. And please don't mention it as constructive critisism, because it is not.

And mind you, if you are an Ilonggo, there are a lot of your peers living well in Cavite. In fact some work as executives, or has business interests here. At present, Cavite's population is diverse---we have people from all walks of life, from all over the world! People from Mindanao, Visayas, Luzon, Korea, Germany, US, Japan, India, list goes on...

Bad things can happen everywhere... nothing's perfect you know...

Mabuhay ang Cavite!

Picture this - an 18 hole pitch chip and putt golf course, a multi-level sports and extreme game club, children's interactive learning center, health and fitness venue, artist's gallery, themed dining, nature and adventure trail, business center, an entertainment, amusement and theme park-all in one sprawling complex.

This place is Kidzworld, the first-of-its-kind, child-oriented nature, sports and adventure club complex in the country. Created with the child’s total development in mind, the themepark takes a holistic approach by providing 88 new thrills, creative and interactive games and fun-filled adventure.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/4584/maplocationlargerw4.jpg

The themepark was developed by the Ponce Group of Companies and Sun Raise Consultants Ltd. of Hong Kong. It is located at corner E. Aguinaldo Highway and Governor’s Drive in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Just 40 minutes away from Makati, Kidzworld stands amidst major golf courses in the South of Metro Manila and is also conveniently situated beside the SM City and Robinson’s Mall.

PITCH-CHIP-AND-PUTT

Kidzworld opens the first phase of its five-phase development – the first USGA Pitch-Chip-and Putt 18-hole course in the world. Unlike other golf courses where children are not allowed to play in the fairway, kids can enjoy a game of golf with adults. Also, this all-weather course provides golfers a real venue to practice their putts and chips. The golf course comes with bunkers, water hazards and a clubhouse.

PITCH-CHIP-AND-PUTT: World's first USGA (United States Golf Association)-Standard 18-Hole Pitch-Chip-and-Putt Executive Course (Golf Club)

This is the first all-ages, all-day-and-night, and all weather 18-hole pitch-chip-&-putt executive golf course in the world. The world-class course is made with tiff dwarf green grass and is designed according to USGA [United States Golf Association] standards. It features the real challenges of the sport complete with bunkers and water hazards. It serves as a great training ground for budding champions and serious golfers.

BATANES COVE

The second phase is the Batanes Cove. Batanes Cove is a magical waterworld of Magellan’s journey. It includes a white-water rafting adventure, log ride, wave pool, heated lagoon, snorkeling, lazy river and craggy-rocks rock climbing aboard a true replica of the historic galleon.

Wave Pool

The waterworld will allow for much splashing around the filtered, treated and safe water at the man-made white sand beach with mechanically-generated waves. Play beach volleyball and try your hands in sand sculpture or spend an awesome night watching a concert in the Ampitheater.

Heated Spa Pool

Aqua Sports like snorkeling, swimming, canoeing and pedalo can be enjoyed here. For the health buff, there's the Heated Spa Pool with massage jets and cascading waterfalls guaranteed to relieve the aches and chase the worries away.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/8966/batanes4ww8.jpg
Tropical Massage Huts

Individual massage area complete with a whirlpool bath and a captivating view of the golf course in the Tropical Massage Huts will give you a treat befitting royalty.

Fishing area at the Sagada Trail

Alfresco dining can be enjoyed with a view of the wave pool and the refreshing sound of the waterfalls. Fresh and handpicked organically green salads from our gardens can be served here with freshly grilled BBQs and pastas. Raw gourmet meal patterned after Hipocrates Diet and in line with our quest for health will be served upon request.

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/4492/magellanox5.jpg

Visit the past and explore the replica of Ferdinand Magellan's Galleon when he discovered the Philippines in 1521. Learn history and more in this mountain-like structure. Test your speed on the 60-foot race to the top of the Craggy Rocks and rappel down to the Ivatan area overlooking the natural crevice. You may now simply take a leisurely stroll in the Sagada trail or better yet try to name or be acquianted with the Philippines' rare and endemic flora. There's no limit to what this exercise can do for you.

MAGELLAN'S PLAYWORLD

Next to come is Magellan’s Playworld. This is an enchanting setting of the seven continents featuring the Asian Fishing Village, the African Safari Maze, the International Dollhouse Village, Europe’s Eiffel Tower slide and St. Peter’s Dome wading pool, South American Remote Control Rally Racing, Australian Carousel and the Antarctica’s Igloo.

MAGELLAN'S PLAYWORLD: Edutainment and Leisure Center

Get ready for an exhilirating journey with world geography at the Magellan's PlayWorld. This area will soon ground break.

This enchanting setting of 7 continents features the Asian Fishing Village, St. Peter's Dome Wading Pool, Sidney's Opera House Carousel, South American Big Foot Rally Racing and more.

Learn a language or two as you walk thru the interactive doll houses in the International Doll House Village show casing the French Chateau, Spanish Villa, Victorian Mansion and Indian teepee. Brush up in geography as you navigate your way out of the African Safari Maze and be amazed at the topiary of wild animals, pyramid and Moroccan structures.

KIDZ PALACE

This will be followed by Kidz Palace, equipped with the state of the art equipment to cater to all needs from daycare, soft gym, gigantic building blocks, artist’s gallery, record-‘n’-play studio of kids and toddlers, a game room, THX home theater, health & spa fitness gym, beauty salon, themed dining, library, internet café and business center of the adults.

And finally, the last phase is the MAC or the multi-level activity center. This glass and steel structure will house an ice skating rink, glow-in-the dark bowling lanes, Olympic size swimming pool, go-cart racing tracks, extreme sports areas, ghost blasterz, giant board games, multipurpose gym and more.

Kidzworld design philosophy was inspired by Dr. Lauren Bradway, Ph.D. on Human Ecology. Her research shows that “a child who can put all her senses to work has a greater chance at success compared to a child left to learn on a single style.”

^^ Yeah! But the catch is it is exclusive for members only! hehe. :D However, after they finished all those developments, it'll still be a beautiful sight to behold (kita pa rin sa labas). It will definitely change the cityscape of Dasma. Being located in the heart of malls & industrial parks, the corporate center of Dasmariñas will be unique as it will look like a huge playground not only kids will enjoy but the young at heart as well.

I personally like this one. I just hope baguhin nila yung design ng buildings. Mas maganda kung old style like buildings in Venice.

From their website:

IS KIDZWORLD AN EXCLUSIVE, MEMBERS-ONLY CLUB?

YES. KidzWorld is for the exclusive use of its members, their families and guests. It is not open to the general public (where no one can be truly accountable for any damage made on the premises).

This members-only policy is designed to protect the members’ investment and to ensure that KidzWorld will continually be able to provide the kind of quality amenities and services, plus the peace of mind and the level of security our members look for.

I think this formally opened last April 2005 but the construction is still on-going.

It interesting to note that is located very near (walking distance probably) to the proposed last station (Pala-Pala station) of LRT extension to Dasma. Marami namang can afford dyan e :D

ANABU-MALAGASANG NIA ROAD OPENS

Senate President Manny Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, inaugurates last March 2 a new stretch of road in Anabu-Malagasang NIA Road along Aguinaldo Highway as part of his campaign sortie in Cavite.

“I am honored to be invited to inaugurate this infrastructure project. The completion of this road will truly benefit Caviteños. Credit goes to the local government of Cavite, particularly the Remullas,” says Villar, who was hosted in Cavite by Nacionalista members Rep. Gilbert Remulla and Rep. Boying Remulla as well CIBAC Partylist Rep. Joel Villanueva.

These 2 have been compared since the 90's and has been a topic for debate on which one is better. I even laughed hard one time hearing that Sta. Rosa is better because it has E.K. while Dasma. has none. But since this is the Cavite thread, I would have to be biased for Dasmariñas. But seriously, we cannot compare Sta. Rosa (1st class city) with Dasma (only a 1st class municipality). It'll be too unfair to compare these 2 based on income, number of theme parks, industrial estates/business parks, schools, malls & other establishments. Also, they have a very different character & history.

Sta. Rosa's economic boom VS Dasma's slow & steady growth: What happened to Sta. Rosa was a stroke of luck because they didn't get to have the problems Dasma. faced for many decades (since Marcos era) & that is being the huge resettlement site of squatters from Metro Manila. And this posed a lot of problems to a then sleepy & poor town of Dasma like little/no help from the national government, poverty, crime, etc. Local officials had to solve these first before they experienced the economic growth when industrial estates & factories started to sprout in the town.

Also, Sta. Rosa with land area of 39.10 km² is composed of 18 baranggays and population of 185,633 while Dasma (most populous town in the country). has a 90.1 km² land area, 76 brgys. (46 of which are resettlement sites), household population 379,520 but with a daytime population of close to 700,000! What I'm telling here is Sta. Rosa may had been easier to manage than Dasma.

For me, the way Dasma struggled it's way up & how it is maintaining it's lead as the richest town in Cavite & being the industrial giant of CALABARZON despite many problems are the things that are "malupit" & more important to it's people.

MUSEO DE LA SALLE

Museo De La Salle is a lifestyle museum dedicated to the preservation of certain aspects and material culture of the 19th century Philippine ilustrado lifestyle. The Museo has been realized to encourage its own use in cross disciplinary learning and growth in an academic environment, and to provide a living space illustrating Philippine culture that is linked to its immediate community, and that reaches out to the outside.

PAHIMIS FASTIVAL
every 2nd week of February, Amadeo, Cavite

PAHIMIS is the Amadeo word for pasasalamat (thanksgiving) in the olden times. As a tradition, the coffee farmer gave away his last can of harvest as a sign of thanksgiving, believing that by doing so, luck and abundance will come on the next harvest season. When a family want to open a small-term business like a carinderia (small fast food store) neighbors were treated first to an eattogether gathering for a Pahimis before the store opened on occassions relatives or friends were sent part of harvest or food as PAHIMIS.

To give semblance to the tradition, a coffee festival named after this cultural practice, will be held annually with coffee tasting fun and giveaways to ensure good luck and street dancing to shout the people’s joy of thanksgiving.

PAHIMIS, an annual affair seeking to boost the coffee industry and to promote out town as a tourist’s haven. Pahimis, A festival of thanksgiving hoping to revive a good tradition of greatfulness to them who do good to themselves and their fellowmen.

CAVITE -- THE CENTER OF A NEW BEGINNING

In the quiet hills of Cavite, much has already been done towards the rehabilitation of our coffee industry. As proof of what is possible: The national average yield is ½ tons per hectare, or 2 kilograms of green beans per tree every harvest. Since coffee is harvested once a year, those are also the stats per year. In Cavite however, where programs have been implemented to boost production, the average coffee tree now yields 3 tons per hectare -- six times the national average! That boosts production up to 12 kilograms a tree, and a whopping 1,200 cups of brewed coffee from a single tree in a single harvest!

Today, the Figaro Foundation Corporation is working in close partnership with the Municipal Government of Amadeo in Cavite, and the Cavite State University (CavSU) -- the National Research Center for Coffee.

Together, the three bodies have launched and are cooperatively maintaining a Barako Pilot Farm. Nestled in the lush Cavite hills is a 1.7 hectare property lent to the project by ex-Mayor Tik Ambagan of Amadeo. The farm implements new farming technology and good farming practices, and is planted solely to Barako from seedlings raised by Dr. Andy Mojica of CavSU. Barako was chosen for this project to support the Foundation’s project to save it from extinction. Barako also fetches a higher market price than Robusta -- the variety most commonly grown in Cavite. This project is projected to increase the income of coffee farmers from P15,000 per hectare per harvest to as high as P85,000 per hectare per harvest.

At the helm of this project are Mayor OJ Ambagan, the Municipal Mayor of Amadeo; Councilor Rene Tongson of the Municipality of Amadeo; Dr. Andy Mojica, National Team Leader - National Coffee Development Board; and Chit Juan, CEO - Figaro Coffee Company.

Plans are underway for other activities. The Figaro Foundation Corporation is constantly in search of good ideas and opportunities to save both Barako and the local coffee industry. We need as much support as we can get. The country needs as much support as you can give.

:2cents:

malamang pag naging city yan magiging 1st class agad..

^^ SM Molino is in Bacoor however it is also very near to Dasma.

It could still be a good thing (less traffic, fresh air, more peaceful environment).

Dito sa Cavite dati sentro ang Cavite City, then nag expand sa Bacoor & Imus, now sa Dasma naman. Nagsisimula na rin mag expand sa Gen. Trias, GMA & Carmona. Kanya-kanya lang time yan. Like dito sa Cavite: Imus & Bacoor-commercial area, Dasma, GenTri, Trece, Carmona-industrial area, Silang-agricultural area/food bastion of Manila. Same thing goes with your province. One of my faves ko yang Pampanga, nakapag stay na ako sa San Fernando, Sta. Ana & Candaba dati. :)

^^ Nope. DLSU-Manila (Main campus in Taft excluding the autonomous College of St. Benilde) has a larger population with 12,000-13,000 students while DLSU-D has only 6,800.

i don't think that info is correct, because back in 2003 when i was still in DLSU-Dasma, our student population was already 12,000+ and enrolment continues to increase so those figures for DLSU-D are impossible.

i've checked their websites and it shows that back in 2004, DLSU-D had a student population of 12,718 while DLSU-M counts their population at 13,000 but includes faculty and staff. Wikipedia pins the student population at over 9,000 but those figures might not be accurate.

i think the reason why Dasma has a bigger student population is that it has a bigger campus, thereby being able to hold more people, and that it caters to a larger area (Cavite, Laguna and south of the metro).

i also haven't heard of any developments by DLSU-D at Trece or Gen Tri. there aren't any news about it. ano kaya yun? kasi they're not the type to establish a satellite school somewhere...

Just an observation. I missed those "alitaptap" days in General Trias and Trece Martires when fireflies buzz around the trees.

I noticed by the way that the area of Governor's Drive (From Dasma to Naic) is more like of a savannah in Africa then go up to Indang to Silang, it is forested.

I remember those cold river resorts in Indang where a string of resorts are located in a river inside a virgin forest. Kewl! :okay:

More than a hundred years ago, Cavite was a site of a revolution that led to the most glorious event in history - the declaration of Philippine Independence.

Today, Cavite waged another revolution that is nevertheless as challenging as the revolution of the past. In quest for global competitiveness, Caviteños joined hands to obliterate every obstacle that would hinder Cavite’s progress by utilizing God-given human and natural resources.

http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/1853/phlocatormapcaviteyh2.png

CAVITE is situated at the crossroads of growing markets in the Asia Pacific region. By flying time, it is only more than one hour from Hongkong, 2 hours from Taiwan, and 4 hours from Singapore, Japan and Korea.
It is situated south of Luzon , the most northerly of the large islands of the Republic of the Philippines . It is bounded by its neighboring provinces of Batangas in the south, Laguna on the east, Metro Manila and Manila Bay on the north, and China Sea on the west.

HISTORIC CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES: Cradle of Philippine Revolution, Birthplace of Philippine Independence

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6445/aguinaldohd9.jpg

Cavite got its name comes from a Filipino world "Kawit" (which means "Hook.") owing to the hook-shaped land on the Old Spanish map. The land was formerly known as "Tangway" where Spanish authorities contructed a fort from which the city of Cavite rose. Archeological evidence in coastal areas shows prehistorical settlements. According to local folklore, the earliest settlers of Cavite came from Borneo. In the 1600s, encomiendas or Spanish Royal land grants were given in Cavite and Marsgondon. Jesuit priests brought in settlers from Mollucas. These settlers, known as "Mardicas," settled in Ternate and Maragondon.

Other settlements grew and by the turn of the century, Cavite towns were already trading with one another. Traditional industries began to thrive as Manila's commerce grew. In 1872, Filipinos launched its revolt againts Spain. Three Filipino priests--Jose Burgos, Mariano Gomez, and Jacinto Zamora--were implicated in the Cavite mutiny when 200 Filipinos staged a rebellion within Spanish garrisons. In 28 August 1896, when the revolution against Spain broke out, Cavite became a became a bloody theater of war. Led by Emilio Aguinaldo, Caviteños made lightning raids on Spanish headquarters, and soon liberated the entire province. Aguinaldo commanded the Revolution to its successful end:the proclamation of the first Republic in Asia, the Republic of the Philippines, on 12 June 1898 in Kawit.

Cavite proudly stands as a place with a glorious past. Its warm and friendly people, whose ancestors came down with a noble cause, manifest industry and patience in various skills and professions, openly receptive to the entry and exchange of culture and technology that are of value to the province.

INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL HUB OF THE PHILIPPINES

Cavite has indeed transformed into an industrial and commercial hub not only in CALABARZON but in the whole country as well. As of 2003, there are thirty-one (31) industrial estates in the province. A total of 973 investors have poured their investments in the 718 existing industrial establishments. Most of the investors have established partnership with their Filipino counterparts in varying levels of equity participation.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6913/estatescq1.jpg

Since the 1990s when the provincial government launched the Second Revolution with industrialization as one of its priority thrusts, Cavite has become a preferred destination of both local and foreign investors. The provinces proximity to Metro Manila has also contributed to the advent of commercial establishments, taking advantage of the rapid urbanization happening provincewide. Agglomeration of such establishments has indeed transformed Cavite into an industrial and commercial hub not only in CALABARZON but in the whole country as well.

LARGEST POPULATION IN THE CALABARZON

The largest population in the CALABARZON area which hit the two million mark was counted in Cavite with 2,063,161 persons (23%). The tremendous increase can be observed in the year 1990 when industrialization was introduced in the province. Investors established their businesses in different industrial estates that magnetized people to migrate to Cavite due to job opportunities the province offers. Another factor attributed to the increase of population is the mushrooming of housing subdivisions. Since Cavite is proximate to Metro Manila, people working in the metropolitan area choose to live in the province together with their families. Natural increase also contributes to the increase in population.
Among the cities and municipalities in Cavite, the municipality of Dasmariñas has the biggest population with 379,520 persons while the municipality of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo has registered the smallest population with 14,343 persons.

A HIGHLY URBANIZED GROWTH CENTER OF THE COUNTRY

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/5341/hwaycn4.jpg

Cavite is classified as predominantly urban having 90.69 percent or 1,871,245 of the population are concentrated in the urban areas, while 9.21 percent or 191,916 of the population reside in rural areas.

In year 2000, urban population increased which can be attributed to in-migration due to expansion of residential areas as well as influx of commercial establishments, services and facilities.
Two cities (Trece Martires City and Tagaytay City) and four municipalities Carmona, General Trias, Imus and Tanza) are already totally urbanized.

A PRIME TOURIST DESTINATION

Cavite is a historic, picturesque and scenic province providing a place conducive to both business and leisure. Tagaytay City serves as the main tourist center. Historical attraction and sites are Fort San Felipe, Cavite City; Sangley Pont, Cavite City; Corregidor Island; General Trias, Cavite; Calero Bridge, Noveleta; Battle of Alapan Marker and Flag, Imus; Zapote Bridge, Bacoor; Battle of Binakayan Monument, Kawit; Tejeros Convention Site, Rosario; and Aguinaldo Shrine, the site of the declaration of Philippine Independence. Several old churches stand as glorious reminders of how the Catholic faith has blossomed in the Province of Cavite . Existing museums include Geronimo de los Reyes Museum , General Trias; Museo De La Salle, Dasmariñas; Philippine Navy Museum, Cavite City ; Baldomero Aguinaldo Museum , Kawit; and Cavite City Library Museum , Cavite City . There are eight (8) world-class golf courses in the province. Natural wonders are mostly found in the upland areas such as Tagaytay Ridge, Macabag Cave in Maragondon, Balite Falls in Amadeo, Malibiclibic Falls in General Aguinaldo-Magallanes Boarder, Mts. Palay-Palay and Mataas na Gulod National Park in Ternate and Maragondon, Sitio Buhay Unclassified Forest in Magallanesand flowers, vegetables and coffee farms.

There are first class hotels, inns and lodging houses to accommodate both foreign and local tourists. Conference facilities can be found in several convention centers, hotels and resorts in the province. Restaurants and specialty dining places offer mushroom dishes, native delicacies and exotic cuisines. Seafoods, fruits, coffee, organic vegetables, tinapa, handicrafts, ornamental plants also abound in the province.

There are twenty-two (22) accredited tourism establishments and three (3) accredited tour guides. There are also tour packages being arranged with the Department of Tourism. Centuries old traditions and the very rich culture of Cavite have been the source of great pride to Caviteños.
