After some more lenghty thought, it's not as bad as I had first assumed. My initial feeling was not very good as it doesn't seem to have a real Irish feel to it and there doesn't appear to be much island left... but I suppose the best thing to do is give it a chance and see how it goes, eh?

BTW the best Irish place in Dubai is the so called Irish Village, a pub with indoor and a very big outdoor seatting, with green grass, a lake, ducks and a few cats roaming around, Irish waitress, live music and of corse barrels of the black staff.

The irony is though that it is located beneath the Tennis Stadium ... like there has ever been a great Irish tennis player. :lol:

I think it's vitally important to invest in the youth of today so we can have the right kind of talent coming through in the future!:yes: All kids should be encouraged/supported to achieve their dreams. The new Michael Schumacher and Roger Federers' of the future are out there, just need to found, and groomed properly! All my girls play tennis - I actively incourage them to participate in sports....but it's really up to them in the end.

Do you care to explain why its stupid? It is the Island or Ireland so there not exactly going to have lets a say a tropical theme. The whole point of this is to bring a bit of Ireland to Dubai!

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is an article today in Dubai newspaper 7 days, that the developer for this project John O'Dolan has taken his own life.

Malec... there are 4 investors in this project.. and only 1 of them is out... so where is the justification to class this project as never built. Perhaps im wrong, but isnt it a bit too premature to do this?

Properties have already been sold, so therefore, wont it go ahead, even if just one person is out of the picture.

Well he actually bought the island. There's a picture of him with some Nakheel guy on the actual island shaking his hand.

Well, Larionovo is also in liquidation. I think that Ireland In The Sun will never happen.

The person who died (no dissrespect) didn't took the island with him in the grave, did he.

The Island of Ireland is still there and if not these guys someone else will built something on it some day ... of course if mother nature is not faster then anyone out there to "re-claim" the island first.

Well someone will own it, whether it be the bank, other investors... so the project will either go ahead, or the land sold and another developer will develop the island. I hope this does go ehead as it was a nice concept :)
