And so is this opportunity... to own, enjoy and profit from a resort property utterly unlike any other, at the heart of the most exclusive real-estate development on the planet, in the most incredible city on earth.
We had a vision… to bring a little piece of Ireland to the sun. To create a luxury hotel resort to which those who have shaped our modern, thriving nation can escape as a little reward once in a while, without ever losing touch with home. Will you be among the fortunate few to become Founding Members and share in our dream? Perhaps you'll choose an apartment overlooking the new Giant's Causeway, not in Antrim, but in the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf. If you do, a new world of opportunities and advantages awaits you...
Prepare to be thoroughly spoiled... Enjoy a relaxing massage in our unique pavilion style treatment rooms as the sun sets over the Arabian Gulf, or keep yourself toned in our state-of-the-art gymnasium. The Spa on the Island of Ireland takes health and wellness to new heights of luxury with a 20,000 sq ft 5-star facility boasting a fully equipped gymnasium and wellness centre with leading spa treatments, sumptuous saunas and steam rooms and an exquisite infinity pool deck.
The World's most cosmopolitan city is also home to the most cosmopolitan cuisine, and our restaurants will be no exception. A flavour of Ireland is guaranteed, while the tastes of the world will be brought to your table. And as you'd expect from a leading 5-star hotel resort on the Island of Ireland, your wish is our command. Whether you are in your room or the spa, at the beach or the marina, in the restaurant or the bar, our purpose is to serve you.
Streets that inspire the imagination... The unique architecture of the Island of Ireland is inspired by the architecture of Ireland through the ages, yet tastefully designed to provide ultra-modern, state-of-the-art accommodation and facilities. The island has a large internal marina with berths available to residents and landscaped courtyard areas, evoking the wide Georgian squares of Dublin. The exclusive villas and apartments sit well in their sunny Dubai surroundings; yet carry more than just a hint of Irishness to them. Throughout the island are intimate boutiques, Irish restaurants and exclusive bars that will remind you of home.
Location:
The World - 300 man-made islands surrounded by an oval breakwater shaped to form the map of the world. The Island of Ireland is strategically located at the centre of The World. This means that it is ideal for travelling to and from the other island resorts in The World as well as to and from Dubai via 24-hour shuttle water taxis, or on your own berthed yacht. Travel time is optimised by four major transportation hubs strategically located throughout the development and connected by waterways and channels.
Most islands will be developed as resorts with villas, apartments and hotels. Many of these resort islands will be themed with aspects of the architecture, history and culture of the countries that the island represents. In this way, you will be able to enjoy the world's diverse experiences in one of the most fascinating destinations on the planet, discovering in the process, that The World can actually revolve around you.

cheese August 9th, 2007, 07:41 PM that is the most ugliest design i ever seen
Tate August 9th, 2007, 08:46 PM ^^ I agree! That's hideous!:ohno: And where is the f*****g island? There's waaaay too much development on this island! Only one beach too!:ohno: If that render is correct of course? They're gonna spend an absolute fortune building all of this crap!!!:bash:
GeneratorNL August 9th, 2007, 09:04 PM I like it :). I would want to live and/or work there. I'm curious about what they are going to build on the "The Netherlands"-island, because I'm from that country. Does anyone knows if there are any plans for that island?
dubaiflo August 9th, 2007, 10:25 PM Malec will be able to tell us if it has the ireland style
aside from this, it's ok. like a small village.
and look at the prices.. developers seem to have realized how expensive building on the world will be..
completion late 2010 of course not.. at least it says "estimated" :hahaha:

Tate August 9th, 2007, 11:22 PM After some more lenghty thought, it's not as bad as I had first assumed. My initial feeling was not very good as it doesn't seem to have a real Irish feel to it and there doesn't appear to be much island left... but I suppose the best thing to do is give it a chance and see how it goes, eh?
Well, once the Irish pubs open up and the Guinness starts to flow it'll have an Irish feel to it alright! I can see 'em staggering out, singing as they go after closing time and walking right off the piers! No-one can put it away like the Irish!  They work hard and play hard!!!
I'm still hoping for a better overall final design and finish!
Dubai_Steve August 11th, 2007, 09:08 PM be Jesus, where are de rolling green hills gone on the Island of Ireland near de Paam Jumeirah.
Tate August 11th, 2007, 10:38 PM ^^
Where are the Castles? Can't be Ireland without at least one!
numnut August 11th, 2007, 10:58 PM right first time Tate, one tasteless unholy abortion of a project and devoid of anything uniquely Irish. Only a complete imbecile would fork out well over €720k for a 1 bed apartment on here.
Tate August 11th, 2007, 11:28 PM ^^ Yeah, I have come back to my senses on this one mate! After a couple of days of not being able to make my mind up about the island of Ireland I've decide to go with my initial gut feeling/reaction! It's utter shite!!!:bash: Whoever designed that has never set foot in Ireland - and if they have then they should be ashamed of themselves! There's nothing there that is even remotely close to being Irish... it's just a farce!!! I was willing to give it a chance... but the more I look at it now the more I just feel like screaming!!!:bash:
There is not not one f*****g shread of this development that even resembles Ireland in any way so I really don't know what these "developers" are thinking!? They've put a central marina in there effectively and literally ripping the heart out of the island...:wtf: What's the point of that? The island is surrounded by f*****g water for Gods sake!:bash: You're just losin' very valuable space that can be put to great use! And where is all the green grass, the trees, etc etc? :ohno:
They're saying: "The Island of Ireland is simply unique" Oh it's unique alright - unique in the fact that it has absolutely nothing in common with Ireland! :bash: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
Tate August 11th, 2007, 11:41 PM http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/1204/122233ireland2qh4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
^^ Avoid at all cost!!! A complete and utter rip-off!!!:bash: People should know that this is not Ireland in any way shape or form!!!:ohno: Who are they trying to kid with this insult?:bleep: :bleep: :bleep:
Only a complete imbecile would fork out well over €720k for a 1 bed apartment on here.
^^ For a one bed:eek:
My advice = :runaway:
AltinD August 12th, 2007, 12:29 AM ...Whoever designed that has never set foot in Ireland
I admid I have never set foot in Ireland ... however that doesn't mean I was the one to design that thing. :D
Tate August 12th, 2007, 01:54 AM ^^ Humm....
Yeah I'll bet it was you though eh?:sly: Now it all becomes clear... My ass looks and feels more like Ireland than that poor miserable excuse for a development.
How could you do it AltinD? :ohno: :bash: Your reputation will be in complete ruins when this gets out!:ohno:
We need to have words when I get out there to Dubai dude! Serious words!
I'll tell you what, if you buy me a Villa in Emirates Hills I'll keep my lips zipped, ok?
:D
DG August 12th, 2007, 02:25 AM its not bad though.
Tate August 12th, 2007, 02:54 AM ^^ But the whole point DG is that it has absolutely NOTHING in common with Ireland! It's supposed to have an Irish feel, or look about it... but where is it? :bash:
It is also supposed to look GREEN!!!
They should have went for a Castle with lots of cute little cottages surrounded by lots of trees...on one side at least, just to give it that real Irish flavour. Something similar to Bunratty Castle in Co. Clare in the west of Ireland. They hold banquets there all the time for tourists, or anyone really and they're always a huge success! I've been to a couple myself over there and they're just brilliant! All traditional costumes etc etc.:)
DG August 12th, 2007, 03:06 AM ^^ you have a wide imagination which can't match the developers' greediness :D. Well lets wait for malec to decide whether it is suitable to be called Ireland or not :p
Tate August 12th, 2007, 03:28 AM ^^ Well, my dad is Irish, born and bred, and he was horrified when I e-mailed him that render in Japan yesterday.:ohno:
Dubai_Steve August 12th, 2007, 05:47 AM Well the video says it has the best Irish pub in the World set into the castle
Tate August 12th, 2007, 06:02 AM ^^ What Castle? If there is a Castle in those renders then I definitely need glasses - and FAST!!!
bizzybonita August 12th, 2007, 03:29 PM ^^ Tate
Where are the Castles? Can't be Ireland without at least one!
come on irish every where lool they called them ajam on UAE :lol lol.gif
:lol:l:
Tate August 12th, 2007, 05:19 PM ^^ Oh yeah:lol:
We just have to have a castle and lots of GREEN!!! :D
:horse:
bizzybonita August 12th, 2007, 06:11 PM ^^   cúnamh me

AltinD August 13th, 2007, 12:24 AM GREEN!!! GREEN!!! GREEN!!!
Are you talking about grass? BTW the colour you wrotte in, is lime :dunno:
Tate August 13th, 2007, 02:47 AM ^^ Yes, I know it's lime professor AltinD! ;) I used lime because I happen to love that colour! But it's not about the colour I used, it's about what the word represents!
Absolutely, I am talking about grass... but also trees and so on. They don't call Ireland the Emerald Isle for nothing! It really is "GREEN" believe it or not.:) Last time I was over there I went to a County known as Kerry, it's in the south, and let me tell you, the grass and everything else was/is unreal! It is truly beautiful down there... and the Pubs... the best I've ever been in, and I've drank all over the world mate!
GREEN!!!:D
Tate August 13th, 2007, 02:52 AM ^^ http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1048/537330025_3d0b77e506.jpg?v=0

So, our little fairy friend here is very unhappy...:ohno:
We are trying to get f*****g GREEN on to that island!!!:bash:

Tate August 14th, 2007, 04:35 AM Just wondering, how come no Irish people on here have come and given their opinion on the island of Ireland yet? Hmmm.... You'd think someone would actually say whether this thing has any similarities with Ireland at all huh? :dunno:
Well, I think it looks and feels NOTHING like Ireland!!!:bash:
DUBAI August 14th, 2007, 04:40 AM uglist pice of shit on the world.
Being ireland hopefully someone will get all petty and do a manchester on it...
Tate August 14th, 2007, 05:07 AM ^^ Thank you!
Bottom line here is it STINKS!!!:bash: I can't believe they're actually going to put a central marina there.... so basically that means they're gonna take away the f*****g sand that Nakheel provided them with in the first place!:bash: I mean :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
DocShergar August 14th, 2007, 11:30 AM Well my grandad is Irish and he'd be turning in his grave banging the cascet trying to get out and look for the guy(or girl) who designed it and give them a good old fashioned pasting. :bash: :gunz:
BTW i think its crap!!! This World project is becoming a bit of a joke.
chefdude August 14th, 2007, 12:01 PM I saw the "Geniuses" who dreamed up this project, can't remember what program it was on. But it was 3 or 4 Irish blokes sat in the pub who came up with idea.
Were they on Craic when they came up with the design?
AltinD August 14th, 2007, 12:33 PM ^^   ^^
Yeah, that's you out there AltinD, right? I f*****g knew you were up to something!  Earlier I was thinking 'were is that guy? Surely he just won't let that slide without saying something at least?' Payback for the torch, eh? Good one mate!!!

I think you missed that English guy's Imperialistic claims and dominance intentions over your lovely Ireland.
Tate August 14th, 2007, 01:25 PM Well my grandad is Irish and he'd be turning in his grave banging the cascet trying to get out and look for the guy(or girl) who designed it and give them a good old fashioned pasting. :bash: :gunz:

Tate August 14th, 2007, 01:33 PM I saw the "Geniuses" who dreamed up this project, can't remember what program it was on. But it was 3 or 4 Irish blokes sat in the pub who came up with idea.
Were they on Craic when they came up with the design?
Yeah, I saw that, I think one of them was english, right? They were all sitting there in the pub swallowing pints and talking about how brilliant their project was gonna be, and how "Irish" it was gonna look/feel.... What? I grew up in Rio and saw/was surrounded by more Irish there than on this f*****g :puke:!!!
Tate August 14th, 2007, 01:36 PM You've been really smoking that green grass, aren't you.
^^ Yep, and a lot more too! I put some in my tea this morning!

Tate August 14th, 2007, 01:50 PM I think you missed that English guy's Imperialistic claims and dominance intentions over your lovely Ireland.
Well it's not my lovely Ireland mate, even though my dad is Irish (he left there 76 years ago), but I do have a lot of time for the place. Great for having a pint, chillin' out and having a good laugh.....apart from that I don't know what the hell is going on over there!? But one thing I do know, that piece of shit island looks nothing like Ireland! :bash:

Yes, I do have news, I much prefer GREEN!!! What a load of crap!
Oh speaking of crap, you wouldn't happen to know anything about 190,000 AK-47's and pistols that went on vacation just recently would you? Seeing as you are an AK man yourself AltinD...hmmm... It's just that the Americans in Iraq are saying they cannot account for 190,000 AK's/pistols.... They said they gave them to the Iraqi Security Forces.... Yeah, and I have the receipt right here in my back pocket!
AltinD August 14th, 2007, 02:25 PM ^^ Lay OFF the dope pipe
Tate August 14th, 2007, 02:36 PM ^^ Will do!  It's just when you live in a house full of teenage girls who all just happen to be as  as their old man then you certainly need some escapism from time-to-time....
Hmmm.... maybe I'll just stick with da black stuff:cheers:
DocShergar August 14th, 2007, 03:40 PM Hey, you're not related to thee Shergar are ya? Only kidding:) How many is that now coming down on the side of CRAP!? And if I get me hands on the imbecile who designed that shite they'll get a legendary seeing to let me tell ya!!!:bash:

I use it to go cut and fetch the hay and do the mucking out
AltinD August 14th, 2007, 04:38 PM ^^ BTW, it has all the attributes to be Irish ... me think. Maybe you can sell to the developers of the Island or borrow them as a attraction. At least Tate will finally see some real Irish spirit in there.
Tate August 14th, 2007, 07:29 PM ^^ NEVER!!! NEVER!!! NEVER!!!
Oops I just spilled me pint o black stuff:cheers:

DocShergar August 14th, 2007, 09:55 PM And all this time we've been searchin' every last inch of Ireland lookin' for ya:ohno: Just to think you've been in Dubai all these years:lol:
:horse:
If only i was in Dubai. Check out my location. Im far from it im afraid. Just love the whole development going on. I shall visit when the kids are older in maybe 5 years time. :)

Yeah, I know where you are mate, just talking about Shergar! Hmm.... poor joke I suppose at the expense of a horse that's been missing for many years...:ohno:
It's mind-blowing alright when you look at some of the amazing developments that are happening out there in Dubai. My favourite project overall I think is Palm Jumeirah....it's just incredibly beautiful....it will be awesome once completed! The original and still the best! Not to mention the Marina and the Oldtown....also great locations to live:)
I know what you mean about the kids mate, how many have you got? It's perfectly fine if you don't want to say of course, I respect peoples' wishes to keep such things private. I have nine girls myself so believe me I know all about priorities and family. Well, if you visit Dubai in five years time there will be a great deal more development completed by then! Hopefully Palm Jumeirah will be finished....
AltinD August 15th, 2007, 11:00 AM Here's some real Irish spirit for ya! KISS ME ARSE!!!

Only if you were the adult version of the (fake) blonde in your avatar. :tongue2:
BTW, by clicking the link in DocShergar's signature you'll find the answer to the question asked. :D

Aww....don't be mean to Chii.  I only put her back here to keep Morella sweet - she's got the flu at the moment.:ohno: Morella reads the posts here sometimes....that's when she's not trying to demolish the house that is!
Yes, I do know by clicking on a signature name you can find out information - but not all, of course! The guy is hardly going to put how many kids he's got on here now is he! I'll get Chii to kick your ass if you are not careful dude!
And still.....no Irish are coming on this thread to tell us what they think of this rubbish island....:ohno:
AltinD August 15th, 2007, 02:43 PM ^^ I like the earlier version of Chii you had in there ... the Hooter's one ...
... and yes on top of the page linked in his signature he talks about his kids.
Tate August 15th, 2007, 11:12 PM ^^ Well AltinD....just for you....the return of a very busty Chii....  Funny enough, Morella prefers this one also.... I do like the new one as it's just so cute, a lot like Morella (without the fake blonde hair of course, Morella's is natural blonde)....but this one is very nice also.:)
Yeah thanks, I didn't really check DocShergar's profile before, not properly anyway. He's got a real nice family there.:)

Tate August 16th, 2007, 05:02 AM Then the blame is on you, for emailing it to him in first place... Just kidding..
I agree, it looks terrible...
Yeah it's all my own fault....:ohno: You should have seen his face:eek2:
I'm glad you can see how bad this development is though.... Unbelievably bad:bash:
DocShergar August 16th, 2007, 03:45 PM ^^ Well AltinD....just for you....the return of a very busty Chii....  Funny enough, Morella prefers this one also.... No worries, I only had a quick little peek;) I just know where you're coming from with the family and all that.... :)
I think that island looked better on the Persian Gulf floorbed!
AltinD August 16th, 2007, 11:37 PM ^^ Some people in here will correct you to "Arabian Gulf".
BTW the best Irish place in Dubai is the so called Irish Village, a pub with indoor and a very big outdoor seatting, with green grass, a lake, ducks and a few cats roaming around, Irish waitress, live music and of corse barrels of the black staff.
The irony is though that it is located beneath the Tennis Stadium ... like there has ever been a great Irish tennis player.
bizzybonita August 16th, 2007, 11:54 PM ^^ i will try this place soon
AltinD August 17th, 2007, 12:00 AM ^^ The best atmosphere is on Friday Evenings, but now it is to hot for seatting out.
bizzybonita August 17th, 2007, 12:23 AM ^^ thnx altin:)

By some people I'm assuming you mean you?:sly:  I'll tell ya, my geography is pretty damn hot, and so it should be, so do I know that Dubai/UAE does have a coastline on the Southern Persian Gulf! But you know perfectly well what I meant here bud! I'll have to release Chii on your ass and believe me that could be extremely painful....not to mention embarrassing!
But hey, where exactly is this Irish Village/pub/Tennis Stadium? Now now, no need to have a pop at Irish tennis...hmmm...  Irish tennis has been in a state of transition for quite some time now....  Seriously though, I think the problem has been the lack of funds being injected into sports by the Irish government over the years, well it was true years ago anyway, apart from Irish traditional sports of course, so the consequences are very apparent! I think it's vitally important to invest in the youth of today so we can have the right kind of talent coming through in the future! All kids should be encouraged/supported to achieve their dreams. The new Michael Schumacher and Roger Federers' of the future are out there, just need to found, and groomed properly! All my girls play tennis - I actively incourage them to participate in sports....but it's really up to them in the end.
Hmmm.... "Don't criticize what you can't understand" Bob Dylan.
:D

BinDubai September 3rd, 2007, 08:32 AM  whata stupid project
Naz UK September 3rd, 2007, 04:35 PM Why is it stupid? No need to be racist against us Irish people. We just want a good time and this project will be beautiful. One day, we wish to move Dublin to this island, piece by piece. That's the dream.

U LOOK LIKE boozoo
Sheltie November 28th, 2008, 01:19 PM The liquidators have been called in to Larionovo.
Brummyboy92 November 29th, 2008, 04:31 PM  whata stupid project
Do you care to explain why its stupid? It is the Island or Ireland so there not exactly going to have lets a say a tropical theme. The whole point of this is to bring a bit of Ireland to Dubai!
shantoosie March 2nd, 2009, 08:25 AM I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is an article today in Dubai newspaper 7 days, that the developer for this project John O'Dolan has taken his own life.
malec March 4th, 2009, 01:02 AM Yes that's right :(
Chakazoolu March 4th, 2009, 06:49 PM Malec... there are 4 investors in this project.. and only 1 of them is out... so where is the justification to class this project as never built. Perhaps im wrong, but isnt it a bit too premature to do this?
Properties have already been sold, so therefore, wont it go ahead, even if just one person is out of the picture.
Im not saying im right, perhaps you know something that concludes this.
malec March 5th, 2009, 01:32 AM Well he actually bought the island. There's a picture of him with some Nakheel guy on the actual island shaking his hand.
Parisian Girl March 5th, 2009, 02:30 AM I'm assuming that if his wife has control now then she may very well sell on to the other three investors and wash her hands of it?
hofterup March 5th, 2009, 04:11 AM Well, Larionovo is also in liquidation. I think that Ireland In The Sun will never happen.
AltinD March 5th, 2009, 05:45 PM The person who died (no dissrespect) didn't took the island with him in the grave, did he.
The Island of Ireland is still there and if not these guys someone else will built something on it some day ... of course if mother nature is not faster then anyone out there to "re-claim" the island first.
Chakazoolu March 6th, 2009, 07:59 AM Well someone will own it, whether it be the bank, other investors... so the project will either go ahead, or the land sold and another developer will develop the island. I hope this does go ehead as it was a nice concept :)
