Piccadilly is to get its very own Badger’s den in what will be a financial helping hand for the area.

Ruth Badger, runner-up in the 2006 final of hit TV show ‘The Apprentice’, will be opening North West Money, a business offering loans, mortgages and other financial services, in the city.

She said: “Although I have loved the media work that has followed since The Apprentice, my heart and soul has always been in financial services. Manchester is the place to be launching a new business. I looked at other cities but I love it here.”

The 29-year-old is making a return to the financial sector on the back of her TV success, with her former boss Chris Smith from Bury-based business Compass Finance.

Chris said: “We intend to build a successful and profitable business. We will stick to what we are good at- home owner loans, remortgages and debt consolidation. Ruth will be running the show, I’ll just be there when she needs me.”

The business is currently recruiting around 15 members before its launch in September of this year. The team is expecting staff numbers to rise to 50 within three years.

Imagine working for the Badge. Wouldn't know how to take her.

totally agree Isaac, her timing would having been perfect five years ago.

At first I thought she was going to do some Princes Trust style business loans and advice for small emerging businesses which I think would work, provide the money and retain some share ownerships for start ups, sadly she is missing an open goal here.

It does also debt management...a business to be getting into rather quickly....

interest rates up 1.5% over the last 18months?

Stock markets crashing leading to credit crunch,...

plenty of cash to be made in debt management.
