i think its a cool box, but why couldnt they have built a more intersting building. all the other bell souths look awesome. not only is it a fairly tall box, its a nice filler and helps balance out the skyline between MT and DT

Well, here we finally have it: the pinnacle of SOM's drearily boring oeuvre! At least I hope so.

It's buildings like this that give skyscrapers a bad name. :D

It's there, but that's about all I can say for it. A sub-3.

I can't believe this building was completed in 1992. It looks so 1970s. Maybe BellSouth was hurting for money around that time. I'd give it more points if they retained the lighting scheme shown in the original post but now it's just whatever lights are left on in the offices and some blue light at the base that you don't notice unless you are standing right at the building.

I was driving by it one night near Christmas and thought they had installed a neat twinkling light system for the holidays but it turned out to be the strobe lights from the fire alarm system.

It does have nice height though...

talk about dull, I think SOM were into something, but messed it up

4.5/10 ...big ol' concrete slab, with windows that make it look like a cheese grater, and not even a hint of a sparkle...*YAWN**... It's only virtue is that it isn't twisted or deformed like some of the recent monstrosities I've seen...

But, airsick, you're right - it DOES look like a great bunker....

It is on of the few box 'scrapers that I like. It isn't a true box...that would have made it ugly...they have turned the bulding's cormers inside out...I like that. I like the base, too.

the facade's pretty clean looking. but the narrow recessed windows makes it look almost like a towering parking garage. not as bad as some of the telecom fortresses in nyc, but it's close enough.

A bit intimidating and not too interesting either, although not really ugly. As a single building it's okay but I can understand some people NIMBYism confronted with such buildings. I wouldn't like it in my backyard either.
