Why the hell is that gonna take so long? They can put up 1 million square feet in 38 stories here in Las Vegas in just under a year. I know it's Gehry but tell him to get off his ass and get crackin'! :bash:

Agreed. Grand Ave is one of my favorite projects but its too far into the future. Actually I have three favorites and those are L.A. Live, Park Fifth, and L.A. Central.
Fern~Fern* August 18th, 2007, 03:55 AM That is actually three projects :ohno:
^ Technically 4! but who's counting, right?:pepper:

You like Park Fifth, but not Grand Avenue because that's too far in the future? Grand Avenue is supposed to break ground in the beginning of 2008 isn't it?
But we agree on the top projects, so it's all good!

If you reread my post, I said Grand Ave is one of my favorite projects. I read an article in the paper a while back that the entire Grand Ave project won't be finished until 2018. But this project is well worth the wait.
Fern~Fern* August 18th, 2007, 05:27 AM ^ OK let's not get too technical LAN? Take off the boxing gloves!
LAsam August 18th, 2007, 05:29 AM 1) I'm looking forward to the Expo Line, so I can actually get DT from the Westside without getting serious road rage.
2) I'm looking forward to LA Live, because it's getting so close to being a reality that I can taste it!

You did say that. I apologize for misrepresenting your position.

redspork02 August 18th, 2007, 10:42 PM Is it me or does anyone else not like the NAme L.A. LIVE???
We should rename it to Chick Square or
S.P. Square or something,,
L.A. Live is sounding tacky now!....
milquetoast August 19th, 2007, 03:02 AM The whole area should be named The Epicenter. Sounds fitting, doesn't it?:)

CITYofDREAMS August 19th, 2007, 08:02 PM LA Live is fine... projects entertainment in the capital of entertainment.
For me is LA Live and Grand Avenue. I really believe these two projects alone will put LA on a higher stage.
soup or man August 19th, 2007, 08:50 PM LA Live is fine. Live = happening right now. LA is happening RIGHT NOW.
Angel Town? Wtf?
LANative August 19th, 2007, 09:14 PM L.A. Live is perfect. I don't see whats wrong with that.
FROM LOS ANGELES August 19th, 2007, 09:54 PM L.A Live sounds good enough.
1. LA Live
2. Park Fifth
p.s Someone do something at 8th and Fig!
Westsidelife August 20th, 2007, 05:17 PM Mine:
1) LA Live
2) Grand Avenue
VZN August 20th, 2007, 09:52 PM Although I'm anticipating all of the projects, the 2 that stand out to me are:
1) L.A. Live
2) L.A. River Restoration Project
The reason for me mentioning the LARRP is mainly because once they finish beautifying the L.A. River, it would literally be the end of an era. Ever since my grandfather's time in L.A., the river was basically a extended concrete ditch that only served one purpose. The completion of the river shows that our city has "evolved" and the L.A. of old is a thing of the past, along with the Grand Avenue Park and L.A. Live Projects.
My only complaint is by the time they're done with the project 100%, it'll be a half a century and I'll be 70 something years old. :-( Maybe at least I can feed bread crumbs to the ducks if there's gonna be any?
vahebaronian August 21st, 2007, 01:22 AM Got to join the majority and say:
1. LA LIVE
2. Park Fifth
LANative August 21st, 2007, 02:10 AM Park Fifth is going to be a amazing project. L.A. will have the tallest residential building west of the Mississippi.
future_trance011 August 21st, 2007, 02:51 AM For me?
1. LA Central
2. Metropolis
Mega projects like LA Live and Grand Avenue are already the centerpieces. But you really need smaller projects in the periphery to make it truly work.
TICONLA1 August 22nd, 2007, 01:12 AM LA Central, and Park Fifth.
as far as what might happen, the Zen tower.
as far as what won't happen, the first version of the City house, (the 61 story) that tower would have been a spactacular addition to South park, I think that of all that is proposed, this tower has the most Los Angeles style.
