teckkang August 23rd, 2007, 11:28 AM why can't they use our own country architecture? why must they use western classical architecture? to me, it looks very very unoriginal, juz like St. Paul's church in London, but worst!!! :(
if they can't find any local architecture to refer to, then juz use the international contemporary one.
UGLY!!!
forrestcat August 23rd, 2007, 02:23 PM They're big fan of roman pillars eh?
forrestcat August 23rd, 2007, 02:25 PM ^^ d'u mean its neo-classical thingy?
Nah..it's OK..i've decided that the color of the building is totally off.
From the look of its buildings, SeGi fees must be expensive.
Leeigh August 24th, 2007, 03:19 AM well one thing I know is that, this one turns out MUCH better than the new courthouse!! I think 'neo classical' style of architecture is neat provided that it is executed with taste...

hey tekkang, western classical style IS our country's style too. Look at most historical buildings in Penang, KL, Ipoh or other cities? What do u see? Colonial era was part of our heritage too. Would be foolish to regard this style as only foreign.
szehoong June 7th, 2008, 12:32 AM ^^ We need diversity too. What if the entire country is filled with traditional architecture? Boring right? :D

I know that this Segi Campus was built by Biaxis
that was my industry training company a year n half ago, and I heard my collegues who handle this project told me there are several ghost stories happened during this campus under construction. A reason its because before Segi College took over this project this building was suspended for couple of years...
samson June 24th, 2008, 09:33 PM btw, I know that 2 biggest column its cost rm80k ...oh god~
when they built up this project this 2 column was a headache barrier for them to sent to the site at that time.

baqthier June 24th, 2008, 10:10 PM hmm i think rm80k is a common cost for such columns..for instance a column for a 2 storey house costs around RM20,000.

PETALING JAYA: The shortage of human capital in the health industry needs to be addressed so that Malaysia does not rely too much on foreign workers, says SEG International Bhd chief operating officer Lee Kok Cheng.
“We can see a shortage in this area and there is demand for more workers such as nurses in the government and private hospital,” he said yesterday after a ceremony to mark SEGi College’s upgrade to university college status.
Lee said SEGi University College was taking the emergence of health science seriously to help the Government overcome this problem.
“SEGi University College is offering a variety of courses in health science disciplines such as nursing where every year, we take in 1,500 new students.
“By doing this, we hope to help the Government fill up the existing shortage of nurses in local hospitals,” he said.
Lee added that by year-end, about 4,500 students would study at its new Kota Damansara campus compared with 3,300 students now.
The first batch of 46 students from the nursing course will graduate in 2009 after finishing their three-year studies.
Vice-chancellor Professor Muhammad Awang said SEGi University College is poised to offer more programmes in non-traditional courses such as business, engineering and accountancy by capitalising on its strength as well as local and international partnerships.
“We launched our pharmacy, dental and nursing centre last week and have already received approval to offer the 2+2 Masters of Pharmacy in collaboration with the University of Sunderland,” he said.
He said there were also plans to offer medicine and dentistry degrees in collaboration with University Airlangga of Indonesia.
SEGi University College has about 16,000 students in five major campuses in Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Penang and Sarawak.
rizalhakim June 25th, 2009, 04:28 AM SEGi may start work on new faculty building by year-end
By Rupinder SinghPublished: 2009/06/25
SEG International Bhd (SEGi) (9792) plans to start work on its new Allied Health Sciences faculty building by the year-end and it is set to be ready for the first intake in three years.
The building will be constructed on a 2.87ha site that it recently bought for RM23.2 million, close to its flagship campus in Kota Damansara.
"If all necessary approvals are given, we hope to start work on the new building by year end or as early as next year," SEGi's chief executive officer Lee Kok Cheng told Business Times after the company's annual general meeting in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
SEGi sees big potential in healthcare education as the industry is expected to grow with increasing consumer demand for quality healthcare.
It believes the construction of the new building is crucial as its existing main campus is close to maximum capacity.
Together with the new healthcare education building, SEGi would have between 10,000 to 12,000 students at its Kota Damansara campus.
As part of its rebranding to a university college status last year, SEGi is also in the midst of developing its own home-grown degree courses.
So far, it has approval from the government for two Masters programmes and three undergraduate programmes namely in Human Resource, Accounting and Mass Communication."We have two more programmes that are in the pipeline for approval," Lee said.
SEGi expects to start its new home-grown programmes in September this year.
