Those roads were actually typical Lagos roads in poor condition. They have been transformed into what they are now, so I expect other roads in the state and int the country to start taking such a shape.

One thing that I have realised about Nigeria, is that the leaders know what is wrong with the country, lack of progress is simply a result of an unwillingness to carry out these projects but rather misappropriate the funds.

What we are seeing her is the end of corruption, but there is still a long road ahead.

Those roads look world-class. I have always said that the reason you find potholed roads in Africa is not because there is not enough money, its CORRUPTION. Once you kill corruption everything else will happen almost automatically.

That is the Bar-beach around where the Eko Atlantic City will be springing up very soon. They are planning to reclaim some of that Land for the upcoming city which they said will be bigger than the present Victoria Island.

Absolutly fab picture. I am of the opinion that the 2 cities have thier roles in Nigeria. Lagos can be come as clean and very presentable, as for being a better city, i think they both will shine in thier own right.

Beautiful picture, Tbite. Looking at shots like that, you can really imagine Lagos transforming into Singapore (Matthias' dream!). Lagos does have a much larger economy than Abuja so it really should be Lagos that becomes Nigeria's world-class city.

Looks really nice, is that the civic centre on that picture? If it is i think i passed on this road last year when i was in Lagos while they were still working on this road.

Wow, i feel that this is the only Lagos monument which was not affected drastically from the neglect of the Obasanjo govt. Thank God, this monument is a real gem and assest to Lagos city.

Get close to it and see the damage done to it by neglect.

It looks very different now. The road certainly wasnt paved like that, and im not sure what the red gated fence is now.

Ahhh...there used to be a chicken suya guy just round the corner where the okadas are clustered, used to buy them suya for 120 naira....those were the good ol days, thanks for the pic h/berg.

I like to think of it in reverse: providing enough reliable, efficient and safe buses then banning okada.

I use to work on the last floor of block B, Eko Court, it houses DBN television, don't know if they still exist tho

I was told there were times in the past when bikes weren`t used as general transportation in Nigeria.

It`s almost disturbing the way those bikers look.

the drivers of the bikes in nigeria or "okadas" as they are called are very dangerous. they don't get any training and many don't even have a license at all.

they should take on the innitiative by the cross river govt. train the drivers, give them licenses and safety procedures such as helmets. do that for all cities in Nigeria

Great assumption. I figured it was a new bridge too and it doesn't look broad enough for road transportation, so you are probably right.
