JOHOR BARU: The long-overdue Chicken Processing Centre in Pandan here is now scheduled for completion in June next year.
It was part of a RM60mil development in the area including the building of shophouses, apartments, offices and a commercial complex.
Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) Mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir said an agreement on the project was signed between MBJB and Jeffa Construction in 1994.
Following this, a wholesale market and supermarket were built in the area.
However, the other developments were not completed after the developer encountered problems during the economic crisis 10 years ago.
“Now, the country’s economy has bounced back and we want to revive the Pandan Wholesale City project,” said Mohd Naim.
Jeffa Construction, which had difficulties in completing the project, transferred the job to developer Mahabuilders.
An agreement was signed between MBJB, Mahabuilders and Jeffa Construction on the project recently.
Mahabuilders was represented by its managing director Mustapha Hassan and company secretary Rodney Choong Kwong Yew while Jeffa Construction was represented by its director Wong Lek Kee and company secretary S. Nalini Saraswathi.
