ETOA906 September 1st, 2007, 09:39 PM Our valleys was even hotter than Vegas last week but less hot than Arizona.
Fern~Fern* September 1st, 2007, 10:17 PM ... Hotter than Vegas!!!!:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:
I wonder how those without A/C are coping... :wallbash:
alex3000 September 1st, 2007, 11:51 PM Not the best week to live in LA.
alex3000 September 1st, 2007, 11:54 PM Even the wind is hot. It feels as if it was burning my face.
Gosh... I should've gotten that hair cut yesterday.
soup or man September 2nd, 2007, 12:10 AM Weee!!! 107 today!!! It's pretty chilly.
.....
It was 113 yesterday.
Fern~Fern* September 2nd, 2007, 01:40 AM ^ 113! That's Hot.
Is this Summer actually hotter than last year?
ArchiTennis September 2nd, 2007, 02:42 AM Not the best week to live in LA.
omg...u pussies...that's nothing. it's been 95 every day here in Houston...but it feels more like 115 because of all the freakin' humidity! disgusting!! no wonder Houston is the most air-conditioned city in the U.S....as soon as you walk outside...you get all sticky..all over! :ohno:
Fern~Fern* September 2nd, 2007, 02:55 AM ^^ All over?
The Baz September 2nd, 2007, 04:17 AM Kind of nice around here. Went to Watts and it was more steamy but I think it's cause all the concrete too.
xXFallenXx September 2nd, 2007, 07:04 AM Yeah, it was 112 here in temecula. The humidity had to be at about 400% too.
Kingofthehill September 2nd, 2007, 07:31 AM Drove thru Whittier and was 99 degrees.
Also went to Van Nuys, and literally beads of sweat were racing off of my face!
Louman September 2nd, 2007, 11:30 PM Last Thursday and Tuesday, I had to walk one mile from where I parked to class. I got to CSUN btw. Damn freshmen taking all the parking spots seniors like me deserve more than they do. haha. When i finally got to class, sweat was dripping down on my notes. That was really ugly.

Your right. The heat and humidity in Houston is incredible.
The top three worst cities that I've been to when it comes to heat
1) Houston.
2) Phoenix
3) St Louis.
Westsidelife September 3rd, 2007, 12:19 AM ^The weather has been great in Chicago lately. Jealous.
Westsidelife September 3rd, 2007, 12:28 AM You really should try Vegas this time of year. It's much like Phoenix. I used to go there every summer when it was around 110-115 degrees every day. It was horrible.
Anyways, it'll eventually cool off here. Saturday is expected to be 76 degrees!
chicagogeorge September 3rd, 2007, 12:32 AM ^The weather has been great in Chicago lately. Jealous.
Yeah it has, unlike the first 2-3 weeks of August which resembled Houston, with high heat and humidity. Luckily I was in L.A for part of that time  The only problem now is the damn mosquitoes. :bash: But I guess that goes with the territory. Some of the most pleasant months are late May, early June, and September.

Been there done that. The only thing was that I spent most of my time indoors playing Black Jack. :)
Here is our latest 7 day forecast::cheers:

chicagogeorge September 3rd, 2007, 12:40 AM ^How are the beaches there right now? Are they packed?
Yes absolutely, I actually just came back from a neighborhood beach about an hour ago. Water is a bit colder now, I think shoreline temps are 75F, but it was over 80F in August.:)
Here is a couple of shots I took yesterday at the harbor not far from where I live.

Westsidelife September 3rd, 2007, 12:53 AM Awesome. Even though I'm from SoCal, it seems as if you're more of a beach person than I am. Truth is, whenever I make my way to the beach (which isn't too often), I just walk around and wiggle my toes in the sand. I don't go into the water. LOL.
and this one was from Del Mar? Is that it's name?
Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not familiar with Orange County, much less its beaches.
chicagogeorge September 3rd, 2007, 12:58 AM I love the water. When we vacation, we almost always go someplace where there's a beach. I've been to L.A. before, but this summer, I realized just how beautiful the place really is (not just the beaches).
LANative September 3rd, 2007, 01:03 AM Its so damn hot here in the Valley its hard to open your eyes because of the extremely hot air smacking your face.

LOL. You're braver than I am. I must say, I'm intimidated by large bodies of water (I'm not that great of a swimmer). And if you're talking about large bodies of water, then the Pacific is a beast. Maybe that's why I'm not much of a beach person, or not as much as I think I am. Just walking on it is good enough for me. It looks like one could have a helluva good time on Lake Michigan though. I would love to try kayaking, parasailing, boating, jet skiing, and water skiing on and over Lake Michigan. That sounds like so much fun! There's one helluva view to go along with it!

I am a swimmer, but I don't take a boat out into the middle of the lake and jump in. Believe it or not it's 930 feet deep! I need to see land not far from where I'm swimming. When I was 19, a bunch of us went out fishing and drinking on the lake, we ended up some 10-15 miles out, and a freaking storm came through. Out 36footer was being tossed around like it was nothing. Scarred the shite out of me!
Imperfect Ending September 3rd, 2007, 01:29 AM It's 103 where I am :(
chicagogeorge September 3rd, 2007, 01:31 AM ^^
Now that's hot:nuts:
Westsidelife September 3rd, 2007, 02:13 AM Who needs the beach when you could have a nice cold shower instead! Though a jet ski and Lake Michigan sound nice. But man, that made a difference. And 5 minutes later, I was sweating again.
Fern~Fern* September 3rd, 2007, 03:36 AM ...It's still 92 in my hood...
The Baz September 3rd, 2007, 05:41 AM I went to a party in Beverly Hills Canyon, I slipped out of my car (after not touching any outside air since I left my ACed apartment) and nearly fainted. It was about 110 up there. Very nice views though.
dattebayo September 3rd, 2007, 05:44 AM oh my california! so hot like hell. whew. 91 degrees.
yamota September 3rd, 2007, 07:31 AM I like the summertime. It's my 2nd favorite season. But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. It may be warm now, but before you know it, it's winter again and wer'e all breaking out the overcoats, gloves and ski caps. Not to mention the thermal underwear and snow boots.
Fern~Fern* September 3rd, 2007, 07:33 AM ^ You must not live in the L.A. Metropolitan area then to wear all those layers of clothing!
Imperfect Ending September 3rd, 2007, 07:51 AM hmm 10:47 and still 85°
alex3000 September 3rd, 2007, 09:44 AM ^
It's 60 degrees inside my room. :) It's probably like 70-75 outside.
And all for protecting the environment, but right now I'm like, "Fuck global warming!" I need my AC.
Joey313 September 4th, 2007, 01:40 AM We shouldn't complain this summer was not that Hot. This summer was very "fresh" is you ask me..
alex3000 September 4th, 2007, 03:11 AM It's 93 right now in LA. I'm in Santa Barbara right now and it's 74 degrees. I guess I chose a good day not to be in LA.
soup or man September 4th, 2007, 04:53 AM It was 110 in Riverside..then it rained. Hard. =\
LANative September 4th, 2007, 05:41 AM Some crazy ass weather in SoCal lately. Fires, rain, and extreme heat all at the same time.
CITYofDREAMS September 4th, 2007, 06:28 AM I went to Burbank today and it felt like the air was coming out of an old big furnace... sizzling hot to say the least.
milquetoast September 4th, 2007, 08:33 AM When do the locusts arrive? It's not unusual for me to go on a late night walk at 1 in the morning and have it be 95 degrees, but I live in the high desert. Our a/c unit won't stop until.... mid November? Hey, City. You guys don't know how lucky you are. :)
beamer85 September 4th, 2007, 08:42 AM Is there any plan for the US to switch to the metric system? I find it hard to work out what your temparature equates to. I know in our Summer (Adelaide, Australia) the average daily temparature is 32 degrees while we average about 10 days a month over 40. The highest recorded temperature is 47.8. I think 100 of your degrees is equal to 37 of ours?
phattonez September 4th, 2007, 08:50 AM ^^Haha, Metric is supposedly the official US system, but we don't use it. It was abandoned a while ago when people resist. You gotta love the stubbornness.
CITYofDREAMS September 4th, 2007, 04:49 PM ^^ I didn't we could measure temperatures with the metric system.
phattonez September 4th, 2007, 05:09 PM ^^I think the Metric system uses Kelvin for temperature, but most use Celsius.
The Baz September 4th, 2007, 10:34 PM The US will not be using the metric system in the foreseeable future. We are happy with the more illogical "English" system thank you.

Here are some of the pics from the beach and vicinity yesterday with my buddy. I hope the L.A. forumers don't mind some photos of Chicago (I'm not trying to troll).
Some pictures of Chicago from yesterday taken with my friend Chicagostyle:cheers:
BTW, It was hot here too today. 90F:)

Is that beach on the Northside along Lake Shore Drive? I think I recognize that beach (then again there are lots of beaches along LSD) from my first trip to Chicago. I stayed in Evanston and drove down to Downtown and saw several beaches along the way. Since then, I've always wanted to try out a Chicago beach.

North Ave Beach is just south of Lincoln Park. Actually east of Mid North, and about 6 miles north of the Loop. Yeah, this beach along with Oak St are the most popular beaches in Chi. None of the beaches in Chicago come close to Orange County however:nono: On the other side of Lake Michigan you would be absolutely surprised:yes:
Westsidelife September 5th, 2007, 05:24 AM ^Dunes on the other side of Lake Michigan. Could you post that picture with the dunes and the Chicago Skyline in the distance? That one's awesome!
yamota September 5th, 2007, 03:49 PM If we adopted the metric system, they'd have to change the football rules; instead of 1st and ten, it'll have to be 1st and 9.144 :D
alex3000 September 5th, 2007, 05:17 PM I turned off my AC yesterday for the first time since this wave eat started.
It's not that hot anymore. We're going to be in the low 80's today (mid-high 80's in DT and the valleys.) :)
Westsidelife September 5th, 2007, 09:31 PM MUCH better!

chicagogeorge September 5th, 2007, 10:56 PM We are still hot today. About 91F in Chicago at 4PM but luckily our humidity is low...only 45%. Tomorrow will be a bit cooler, low to mid 80's, but MUCH more humid. Next week low 70's :) Autumn is around the corner for us.
