Well, it's not the big one just yet, but the west coast has to be on guard and well prepared at all times. Scientists say the big one will definitley come, and that's definite, no if ands or buts; the big one will hit anytime within the next 30 years.

"the big one"...

If the fit were to hit the sham right now, do you think we'd be ready for it?

Okay, what exactly is the "Big One"? Will the "Big One" supposedly destroy everything?

There's no such thing as "The Big One" is just another way for someone to cash in or get government subsidize money for some (Special Study).... If they don't intimidate the general public with these so call awareness prevention studies, then there's no worthy cause to have a study. Which results in no money...

^^ the "big one" is the San Andreas fault which is expected to go anytime now:

San Andreas Fault Zone

TYPE OF FAULT: right-lateral strike-slip
LENGTH: 1200 km
550 km south from Parkfield; 650km northward
NEARBY COMMUNITY: Parkfield, Frazier Park, Palmdale, Wrightwood, San Bernardino, Banning, Indio
LAST MAJOR RUPTURE: January 9, 1857 (Mojave segment); April 18, 1906 (Northern segment)
SLIP RATE: about 20 to 35 mm per year
INTERVAL BETWEEN MAJOR RUPTURES: average of about 140 years on the Mojave segment;
recurrence interval varies greatly -- from under 20 years (at Parkfield only) to over 300 years
PROBABLE MAGNITUDES: MW6.8 - 8

when this goes, it will cause heavy damage to the L.A. area, mostly becuase of the liquifaction that can and mostly like will occur in heavily populated areas in and around downtown.
