Evergrey August 15th, 2003, 03:57 PM 2
It's a little better than Phoenix... especially considering the smaller size... there's one building I like... the tallest one... but this is still a poor skyline
SteelCity32 August 15th, 2003, 06:06 PM the natural setting is nice. But it lacks a skyline.

jmancuso April 13th, 2004, 05:43 AM Tucson more than makes it up with its natural beauty. I love that town...
Wu-Gambino April 19th, 2004, 05:07 AM 6/10
Better than I thought, nice scenery, but still small. I like the tallest.
EstablishedStyle April 19th, 2004, 08:04 AM Skyline : es le shit :) less trois points

james2390 June 29th, 2004, 03:47 AM I think its excellant. Just because it's not big doesn't mean anything. Its got density and some nice looking buildings.

Jules June 29th, 2004, 04:36 AM They could do better, 4.5/10.
mauiboy63sea July 15th, 2004, 06:24 AM Tucson is another city with lots of potential. AZ is growing so I'm sure there are large scale projects being planned. Like so many mid-sized cities in America, I hope they opt for higher density, taller buildings then acres of suburban sprawl. For now I give it 4.5.

Kevin J January 6th, 2005, 11:06 PM how big it tucson?
City: 530,000
Metro: about 900,000
Prospects for more skyscrapers are dim. People move to Tucson to enjoy being outside, having a pool in their backyard, etc., so other than college dorms, there are literally only 4 residential buildings in the whole metro over 4 stories. Winter tourism is big there too, but again people visit to golf, hike, etc. all of which lend themselves more to sprawling resort hotels than high-rises. So no high-rise hotels on the horizon either.
Otherwise, the economy is based on defense/aerospace (military bases, defense contractors, aircraft components) and higher education/research (university and related activities). There are no corporations of any size with a headquarters or even a division based there. This is the reason that other than a couple of minor government buildings, there has been no office construction downtown since the city's tallest opened in 1986.
Like many cities, a "midtown" office area emerged about 25 years ago. But even this only resulted in one 18-story building, and maybe 5 more in the 5-10 story range.
Tucson just isn't a skyscraper kind of town.
Oh, and I give the skyline a 4.
hauntedheadnc January 7th, 2005, 02:24 AM Not much there, but what is there works nicely together. That, and the city is in a very nice setting what with those mountains in the background. All in all, I give it a 7.
SkylineTurbo January 7th, 2005, 02:55 AM Not so bad, 8.5, nice city though.
Blahb January 8th, 2005, 03:34 AM 7.5. It gets +cool points for the mountains. Other wise, 7.
MIMICA January 17th, 2005, 09:43 AM Tucson just isn't a skyscraper kind of town.
Oh, and I give the skyline a 4.
I'm sorry to say that Tucson is a skyline type of city. It just was expanding for more residentials in the past two decades because of the large increase of population. Once the metro population get's to about 1.000.000, then for sure the city is going to get back on track with it's skyline. Everytime I visit Tucson, I can barely recognize the city, because of all the construction occuring south of the downtown area. Alot of businesses are being built there, and it's starting to be known as the "business part" of Tucson.
So, I give Tucson a good 5 years, untill it get's satisfied with all the residentials, and starts back on it's skyline.
FINAL VOTE - 3 :)
datilguy January 17th, 2005, 10:34 PM LAME!!! Really bad skylne. The tallest building is the Unisource Tower. There are very few major or highrise projects even on the drwing board. Of course I am from ABQ so I am used to everything being better. ;) .....just kidding. I give it a 4.5

i suppose most of you don't really realize the situation over there, so i can't blame you people for voting the skyline so low! :(

Zaqattaq January 30th, 2005, 04:47 AM What kind of a tard dosent know Tuscon exists?
This skyline is from Microsoft being based there in the begining
MuddyZehbra32 January 30th, 2005, 05:05 AM the kind of tard that doesn't care abut geograpgy or where places are in their country...the kind of tard that make up 50% of the USA
Zaqattaq January 30th, 2005, 05:11 AM ^ darn straight, at least our state went blue
waccamatt January 30th, 2005, 09:46 PM My brother lives in Tucson so I've been there a number of times. Tucson gives suburban sprawl a new meaning. Downtown Tucson is very small and boring for the size population that it has. The only cool thing in Tucson is a little trolley system near the U of A.

United-States-of-America September 6th, 2005, 02:38 AM 9/10. Nice buildings.
urbanphx September 6th, 2005, 10:43 AM I'll give it a 6, which is actually fairly decent considering the Tucson metro area has yet to brake 1 million yet, and (most of all), it's in Arizona. A state notorious for building out, and not up.
Downtown Tucson specifically may not be as vibrant as some would hope for; however, it has a lot of potential. Whether it be from it's apparent strong cultural ties (Spanish and Native American heritage), or, from the many old buildings and homes that still stand in the area due to Tucson being one of the oldest cities in the West, there is definitely plenty of historical old west charm to it's central core.
Much of which I think, at first glance, many people don't ever even recognize or appreciate to begin with, when visiting the city.

For an MSA of a million, it's a bit disappointing, but to be fair, it has to compete with Phoenix.

NickABQ May 21st, 2012, 09:35 PM It's got a wonderful setting and the skyline definately makes an impact.
However, I will never forget what my mom said on her first trip to Tucson..."are those 3 buildings all of downtown Tucson?"
The relatively small skyline contribute to Tucson feeling like an overgrown small town.
6/10.
