The government must look at the Angolan people as the nations greatest element and with out it Angola is lost, but I do believe the leadership understands this, I just hope and pray that they not lose focus. The truth is that an educated nation is a powerful nation.
,... in my view lots of money need to go job education and higher levels of learning(math and science).

Absolutely. Natural resource wealth must be converted into human resource wealth, the true resource of a country and what makes a country rich. I hope that Angola really learn from Vietnam in how to effectively improve health in a poor war-torn country. Angola now also has the financial resources available that Vietnam didn't have.

Going tribal, ethnicity or racial is almost always a step in the wrong direction. Get the most qualified people do the work regardless of the above criteria.

I think it is far more dangerous when only one group has a say... in my view all tribal groups will have a say.

I think that the GOV need to pay close attention to its borders there are to many people enter the country and this could lead to big problems, many of them do not follow the laws and rules of Angola.

A very legitimate point you make there. Fortunately, Angola has become very strict with that and this is important for the country´s well-being, the country needs qualified labour force and not unqualified labour who enter Angola as robbers and thieves. I have read that the Angolan government has already thrown out 25 000 illegal immigrants of the country last year alone.

Democracy would also be a good start, and not just some flimsy system. A multi party democratic nation with strong judicial and government institutions. This is something that even South Africa struggles to achieve.

25000 expelled means 0... if you look at the 100,000 and growing that are entering the country, in some parts of the country authorities are worried because there are just to many strangers.

The western system of Demorcay does not work for Africans, we need to find our own style Democracy and maybe look at our own roots for the answer BEFORE Arabs and Europeans came to our lands.

Blue Sun, you are Angolan, right?
No, 25 000 is not 0. It is something. The problem with Angola is that is grows rapidly now and therefore is a magnet for surrounding poorer countries. But in the long run, too many people will lead to too many problems. Angola has to cope with its own national problems first (physical and social reconstruction and reconstruction of industries, agriculture etc.) before it opens its doors to unqualified labour.
Nigeria witnessed the same problem with an influx of unqualified foreigners in the 70´s....which led the government to hasty reactions in the 80´s ("14 days for all foreigners to leave the country or get expelled"..Figures were put at several millions) Ivory Coast attracted people in droves in the 50´s, 60´s, 70´s and 80´s which resulted in all the problems with see nowadays, "who is Ivorian?". (ivoirité) The population has swollen form 5 miilion to 17 million or more nowadays. Go to Ivorian forums and read what the people are discussing there.
In Gabon only (!!!) 2/3 of the population is of native Gabonese origin and authorities have become very harsh to deal with illegal immigrants in the past years. The country surely has one of the strictest border controls in Africa (maritime and land). The visa fees are exorbitantly high to enter the country and there are even foreigners with a legal status who leave the country and are refused to re-enter again. (this goes too far in my eyes). The reason why you see a lot of police and military control in Gabon is primarily "the hunt for illegal immigrants" entering the country. I don´t know how the situation is like in countries like Kenya or Botswana? The phenomenon is certainly not limited to Africa but it is worldwide. Many countries are complaining about it.
So Angola has to eye its borders very carefully otherwise the country will get massive problems in the future when it wakes up to the grim fact that its population has swollen from 14 million to somewhere near 30 million people or so.
I am not against immigrants but they have to have a legal status and be qualified in various fileds so that they can help countries grow.

Angola government is still having a hard time dealing with its own people, if the number of people from other African countries and Europeans goes up this could only lead to major problems in Angola. Government need to be able to support the indigenous people...
AND EDUCTION MUST BE FREE... no registration fees.

Agreed
I am only against illegals and people that enter the country without a qualification. Nobody needs these people in any country of the world.
Educational aspect: ... education is free as Hammelkar told us!
There is no doubt about it that NATIONALS have to come FIRST. That´s why I have brought up the aspect that all Angolans (or at least the majority of those) that live abroad, people like you or LadyL for example, have to return to Angola and help with the reconstruction of the country.
Secondly, immigrants with expertise and very good qualification - no matter where they come from - should be promoted in a guided manner (Australia, Canada or Singapore with its new flexible immigration policies can be a source of inspiration - at least for a couple of years)...QUALIFIED PEOPLE ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST: THEY WILL HELP TO PUSH THE COUNTRY FORWARD or Angola will get many problems again in the future ...and South Africa will be forever the leading economic power in Southern Africa. If not Angola, which other nation in the Southern African sub-region will make it BIG?:dunno:

There are many people around with bad intention trying to work their way in to Angolan society and a large number of them are Forigners.
The Gov should also study and reseach the history of the nation, and up lift and high light the diffirent tribes culture in the nation, to create sence of common identity the people, with may lead to a common goal.

Japan ups checks for foreigners
By Chris Hogg
BBC News, Tokyo
The move affects all foreigners in Japan, whether tourist or resident
Japan has started to fingerprint and photograph all foreigners when they arrive in the country.
It is only the second country after the United States to check foreigners in this way.
But unlike the US, which only checks foreign visitors, Japan will require foreigners living in Japan to be checked each time they enter.
The Japanese government says it is an anti-terrorism measure but others say it is discrimination.
Any foreigner entering Japan will now be fingerprinted and photographed.
The biometric data will be checked against lists of people who have been deported from the country in the past.
There will also be cross-checks with more than 800,000 pieces of information relating to suspects wanted by the Japanese authorities and the international police organisation Interpol.
Terror target
Japan says the new move is an anti-terrorist measure that will also cut crime.
Human rights organisations say it violates foreigners' rights to privacy and could encourage xenophobia.
They complain it implies that foreigners are most likely to commit acts of terrorism or commit crimes on Japanese soil.
So far there has been no terrorism in Japan committed by foreigners.
Incidents like the sarin gas attacks on commuters on the Tokyo subway were carried out by other Japanese.
There are also concerns that the information gathered will be shared with immigration authorities in other countries.
Foreigners who have visas which allow them to live in Japan, meanwhile, are angry that they will now be treated the same as visitors and subjected to longer waits when they re-enter the country.
Japan insists, though, that the measures are needed to help keep terrorists out.
Tokyo's staunch support of the US-led invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq have raised concerns that Japan could be a terror target.

Mr. Offodile the number of illegal immigrants in some parts of the country are so high that it is troubling the governors of some provinces and many in Luanda are buying Angolan citizenship, and if Angola plans to develop this issue must be under control. The Angolan gov needs to deal with their own people first. And many of this illegals do not follow the laws of the land, it is not there country so why should the obey the laws, thats one reason Luanda is so crazy.

That´s terrible to hear, buy Angolan citizenship?????Illegal immigrants???:bash::ohno: Angola has to get this problem under control otherwise I see a lot of problems for the country in the future, explosive population growth is always very bad if the problems for the existing population is still existant, illegals only import weapons, drugs, filth, more demands, more social troubles ....one of the reasons why I would consider it best if Angola strictly sealed off its borders, it should pay properly the police to fight crime and illegal immigrants entering Angolan territorty (something which can be done under sutocratic rule better than when a country is a democracy)...the biggest problem is that most of the aliens are not even educated. So what is their use for Angolan society???
Angola has to take care of its own citizens FIRST before thinking of any kind of foreigner. It is their land and their territory. What about civil society engagement to fight illegal immigration in the country? Angola can´t take care of all of its surrounding countries, in my eyes. It has enough problems of its own to deal with first. The less people , the better for all!
maybe some biometric passports and of course strong institutions and a heavy and very well-paid police force in all of Angolan cities could help to keep them out! What is being done in this regard??? These are urgent questions even if they sound harsh and xenophobic but it is in the interest of the country.

Zimbabwe Ready to Supply Building Materials to Angola
Luanda, 12/03 – The minister of Industry and International Trade of Zimbabwe, Obert Mpofu Monday here said that his country is interested in supplying construction materials, such as cement and steel, to Angola, as a means of helping its “brother” country in its national reconstruction process.
Speaking to the press at “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, at the end of his four-day work visit to Angola, the Zimbabwean official expressed satisfaction with the country’s current reconstruction state, adding that in areas in which their contribution is desired, the government and businessmen of Zimbabwe will be ready to help.
He also stated that he learnt of the Angolan potential in various sectors of the economic life, and that his country immediately wishes to import Angolan marine products.
“Angola is a very rich country in terms of marine resources and we hope you could supply us, above all, fish and salt, because, as everyone knows, we do not have sea” – he added.
He also expressed satisfaction with the arrival of Zimbabwean businessmen to Angola, what, in his point of view, besides being a clear sign of his country’s engagement in the reinforcement of the bilateral cooperation, shows that it is time for countries of the region, in particular, and of the continent to join hands to overcome the difficulties they face.
The Zimbabwean minister’s visit mainly aimed at reinforcing the economic cooperation, in general, and particularly the trade and investment between the two countries.
During this period, a delegation of businessmen from Zimbabwe was in Angola for eight days and carried out business contacts with their Angolan counterparts and established partnerships.

The Gov should use the army to keep watch of over the borders and also use technology to help them they have the money put it to good use, this is getting to be a very bad problem for Angola... It is time Angola beings to shape up... They must put an end to illegals coming in to the country... I know they can do it I just do not understand y they do not do it.... and for the ones that are allready in the country should be expelled. If Angola is to be something there must be order in the country.

Northern Angola
Over 4,000 Foreigners Repatriated from Lunda-Norte
Dundo, 12/21 - At least 4,000 foreigners found to be illegally dealing in diamonds in Angola’s northeastern Lunda Norte province were repatriated by the National Police, over the last 30 days, Angop learned.
This is as a result of Kulungunga operatiom, held by the provincial command of the National Police, whose goal is to reduce illegal immigration and diamond trafficking.
PS: Very good, hopefully they will intensify their search for illegal people trying to enter the country by stealing Angola´s vast diamond deposits. The Angolan government should apply draconian measures to keep this problem at bay.

Illegals crossing the borders of Angola gets more and more of a problem to which the government seems to pay more and more attention to.
Here is a long and detailed article in today´s press about the problem. A new well-trained police/army force will be lauched to hunt down illegals entering the national territory, also along the borders! For more details

About the border the Angolan army must protect it, should be high on their list TO DO.
The have a good army and this is one way of keeping them fit... and invest some money of technology for border monitoring.
The government should work to stamp out this bribes that government works ask for all the time, if the do not stamp this out, Angola will never be what most people would want it to be a nation fulfilled... Angola is great, if the do not stamp out bribery, it will work its way into a lost dream...

As the country build its self it is important the government understand this simple issue.

The government should make so that students do not have to worry at all about paying any kind of school fees, it should be the government that pays it all. This will be a win for the gov. and the citizens, an educated nation is a health nation, I think that it could also make crime less.
