I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but that phrase, "I Don't know why there is something wrong with," scares the crap out of me. Anyway, I heard that the CBOE uses as much power as the John Hancock Tower...true or false? I just read it somewhere, I want to know if I read correctly. Anyway, I love watching the floor of the CBOE more than anywhere else. After all, what other trading floor in North America gets preiodic fist fights and has such a mass of colors, gestures, and is so loud? I love it! 9.0/10 (nees some cleaning)

Okay, there is one problem, but it has to do with the street leading up to it...the buildings on either side in front of it on the street are not at equal distances, making the CBOE appear to be off center. AAAAAAAUUUUUGGHHHHH!!!!! I'm O/C, a perfectionist! I can't stand that! Help me!

I remember hearing on the Chicago River Architecture Tour that the fact it looks like a chair was done deliberately. Because of the developers/owners distaste for New York City, the building including the statue's back face the big city on the east coast.

I like this building alot - it has a real importance to it, especially in the way it caps the view down LaSalle (you see this in NYC also - the old PanAm Bldg. on Park Ave - but the LaSalle effect is more powerful IMHO).

The curb of LaSalle steps in at two points as it heads towards the BoTrade, to create the forced perspective of even greater depth & height - pretty neat, huh?

Has been a great backdrop in a lot of movies, most recently posing as the building for Wayne Enterprises in Batman Begins. It just doesn't get any better than LaSalle Street.

I remember hearing on the Chicago River Architecture Tour that the fact it looks like a chair was done deliberately. Because of the developers/owners distaste for New York City, the building including the statue's back face the big city on the east coast.

Actually, it was the Civic Opera Building. The man who had it built had a daughter who went to NYC to sing opera. She was horrible and they let her know it. When she came back to Chicago, daddy built her the Opera House. It was built like a throne with it's back to NYC so when he died, he could sit on his throne and never have to look at New York.

I guess there could be a similar story for CBOT.

Really nice looking building and a commanding presence on the street. I love the old art deco of the late 1920's and early 1930's. In addition to the great looks it has a lot of history.
