SM Naga should've also made an al fresco dining area right at the back of the mall just like what SM did with SM City Clark.

Gahd! I couldn't find a photo!

I found a photo. This photo pales in comparison to the real thing though.

No.

But who knows, they may have already included it on the price.

But anyway, I have always been buying our cars from local dealers as we really have to support them. That is one way of thanking them for investing here in Naga.

Even if some car agents are wooing us to get directly from Manila to save, I am never tempted to do so. What is few thousands personal saving when it would mean more livelihood to the Bicolanos.

All our cars at present were all from Nissan, Mitsubishi and Ford Naga branches.

And I'm happy with their services here.

agree Doc! :okay:

for us, it's actually our first time to to buy from a Local dealer.. and so far so good of we are contended about the service :okay:

Does she have roots in Iriga?

The Necio's are my kababayan in Polangui and lives in Magurang, Polangui, Albay.

A lot of car dealers for a small city as Naga! And not just car dealers but Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi! Honda and Chevy are even coming to town!

Indeed, for such a small city- almost all the major car dealers are here.

Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Suzuki, Isuzu, Hino, and soon Chevrolet and Honda.

Kia Naga closed down although there are rumors that it would be mooving to a bigger location in Diversion.

But I don't know if you guys have noticed this.

Unlike Ford, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Suzuki and Isuzu brands that became prevalent among the roads in Naga City after they opened delaerships here- I do not see much Kia Cars around.

Maybe the said Korean car just did not make it in Naga City. There used to be a Daewoo dealership in Naga City in the mid 1990's but the said car just disappeared into thin air all over the Philippines.

I did not mention Toyota as it is always a common sight everywhere in the Philippines.

But come to think of it- I never owned a Toyota in my lifetime despite its popularity. I don't know why but Toyota cars never make me drool.

I love to have an Honda or a Chevy but never considered buying them yet unless they open up their own delearships in Naga. That's rule number one for me before buying a car. An existing service center in the neighborhood.

Our old Nissan Sedan is ripe for raplacement but the car has never given us any major problem and its aircon is still as good as new. Should the time come that it would be replaced, my wife is dreaming for a Nissan Teana once we would be able to afford it.:) A really attractive and fully loaded sedan.

With the Chevy and Honda coming to the picture in the next few years- we would have other options. The more the merrier.

So it's counterpart, the unattractive and very basic Toyota Camry had to wait- forever.:lol:

So this al fresco dining area will be, as the name suggests, open? As in no walls, glass panels or whatsoever? Where is this located? Is it the old PC store? Or is it at the back of the mall?

The Al Fresco is located on the left side, according to the OIC, the Al Fresco and the open food court located near DIY is open from 10:00 AM - 12:00 MN while the rest is open on a regular mall hours 10 AM to 9 PM.

The Grand ALDP/Puregold Mall Plan

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff507/Nagacity/008-1.jpg

That's Puregold in the middle, ALDP Mall on the left, multi level parking on the right, residential units at the back and is that another Mall at the backward section of the complex?

That multi- level parking would be the carpark fourth in the city.

SM City multi level parking
Puregold, Multi level parking
E Mall underground parking
Naga City People's mall.

May that's the reason why we have so many car dealers in the city- too many multi- level parking to fill up.

go for the Teana Doc, it's a "dress to kill" design of sedan! :okay: i love it too!

no offense to Toyota owners.. Toyota according to a lot of reviews is for someone who just wants to get a car without any second thoughts :D it's the average guys' car, plus since it's the average type of car... the resale value of Toyota is quite low compared to other car makers if you plan to change it up after a few years.

who knows, after Chevy and Honda here in Naga, imo, Mazda will not be left behind. Currently there are three Mazda CX-7's (White, Black, Silver) roaming around Naga City, this is a signal call for Mazda that Nageunos knows how to pick a good car  kung Chevy ngani na mas mahal eh di much more na kaya ang Mazda.

When he becomes the full-fledged Bishop of Caceres, will he also be given the title Archbishop, Father Xave? Or will he still wait until he gets promoted? Or is being the Bishop of Caceres a promotion in itself? :D

yes being appointed bishop is a promotion.
the bishop of Caceres is always and already an archbishop when officially named as Caceres is an Archdiocese.

Yes, Mr. Abet Bercasio is the former president of MNCCI.

AgriNurture to produce more coco juice for US-based Vita Water
The coconut water exporter that secured a $15-million dollar purchase commitment from United States-based Vita Water said it will build two to three plants and can expand production capacity by 36 million liters per facility.

“Probably one in the Visayas and two more in Mindanao. All of these will happen in the next 12 to 18 months," AgriNurture Inc. (ANI) president and CEO Antonio Tiu said late Thursday.

"We got Vita Water to commit to buy as $15 million worth of our production for 2012. We expect to generate $3 million per month from our CamSur plant once operations ramps to full capacity," Tiu said. Vita Water is a subsidiary of Pepsi Cola Inc. The ANI plant in Camarines Sur is rising on a two-hectare property. ANI is also setting up 10 to 15 refrigeration and cold storage facilities at coconut water collection stations in the Camarines, Albay and Sorsogon provinces.

Commemoration of “Undas” in Camarines Sur: generally peaceful
NAGA City, Nov.2 (PIA) -- The police blotter in the PNP Desk in Camarines Sur showed no record of major crimes that marred the commemoration of the annual All Saints and All Soul’s Day here, compared to the reports from past years. This was confirmed by Philippine National Police (PNP) Camarines Sur OIC provincial director senior supt. Procopio Lipana.

The police force attributed the orderly outcome to the round-the-clock police visibility imposed by the authorities two days before the event. Read more (http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=1&t=1&id=62098)

no offense to Toyota owners..

Camarines Sur’s PDA a model for development planning :hm:
Camarines Sur’s Partido Development Administration (PDA), a government-owned and -controlled corporation (GOCC) hailed as a model for district development planning, is being replicated in other congressional districts because of its success story, according to Camarines Sur Representative Arnulfo Fuentebella.

Fuentebella said that CamSur’s PDA located in his third district had been recognized by the Congressional Planning and Budget Department as the best district in planning, and was presented to Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile in 2009 as a model on how to strengthen the said department.

It also received a Civil Service Commission Certificate of Recognition as a finalist in the 2010 Search for Outstanding National Government Agency and Accreditation under the CSC Agency Accreditation Program. Will immigration dare to off-load Arroyos?
The tit for tat between Camarines Sur Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte and 4th district Rep. Arnulfo Fuentebella rages on. The latest: they both have dug up Commission on Audit reports, with which to show fraud.

Villafuerte wrote President Noynoy Aquino to urge abolition of the Fuentebella-controlled Partido Development Administration. In the letter he cited a COA list of three-dozen failing government corporations, including the PDA. Unique in that it covers only one congressional district (Fuentebella’s) of 10 towns, the PDA lost P100 million in 2008-2009. This is on top of P1 billion in debts it incurred in the name of the national government, hence payable by the entire nation.

A House bill that seeks to scrap a fourth of some 120 state firms rates the PDA among the “unnecessary, under-performing and losing.” Villafuerte said in his Oct. 18 letter to Aquino that the PDA was formed 15 years ago on Fuentebella’s sponsorship to enliven the Partido district. Yet it has only managed to get five of the ten towns graded by the National Statistics Board among the province’s poorest. One of the five, Tigaon, is Fuentebella’s hometown, where son Arnulf Bryan is mayor. Another son, Felix William, was PDA chairman till last year. MANILA, Philippines – The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is causing rains in most parts of Metro Manila and several regions in Luzon and Visayas, weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

Speaking to dzMM, PAGASA officer-in-charge and Science and Technology Undersecretary Graciano Yumul said the rains being experienced in Metro Manila since last night were caused by the ITCZ over southern Luzon and Visayas.

Rains are expected to taper off around 9 a.m. today, but will return in the afternoon. Yumul said the areas of Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay and certain parts of Samar will likely experience rains from this weather system.Read more (http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/metro-manila/11/03/11/metro-rains-caused-itcz)

Up to now, the construction was put on hold by the DAR.

I think it would be resolved.

In fact the developer was complaining since they are constructing on the part of the huge complex that has been approved by DAR.

They apparently have not touched anything that has not been converted yet.

LRay back closure of inutile GOCCs, CFIs
The governor also urges dismantling of Partido Dev't Authority
The legislative measure, pushing for the abolishment of Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) as well as Government Financial Institutions (GFIs) noted to have shown lackluster performance with its advocacy, continues to reap support not only from solons of the Lower House where it originated but also from local leaders who recognize the urgency of carrying out austerity measures in government.

Among said leaders is Gov. LRay Villafuerte who recently expressed his support to the measure enshrined under House Bill 2867 which pushes spending only for concerns vital to the country by eliminating GOCCs and GFIs which are either “unnecessary, underperforming or losing.” Read more (http://www.bicolmail.com/issue/2011/nov3/xback.html)

CamSur tabloids in the AdCongress
The 22nd National AdCongress to be held in Pili, Camarines Sur from November 16 to 19, 2011 will definitely “change the game” for the giant players in media, tourism, fashion, transportation, business and industry. In effect, the congress will feature how these giants wage corporate wars and as the classic saying goes, when elephants do battle, the ants get crushed.

The outcome of these battles is obvious. Consider what has happened to the old business district of the City of Naga and the Liberty Commercial Complex when the giant SM City opened its doors in the city. One has simply to go to these two sites and compare their volume of shoppers with those of SM City. All is fair in trade and in business? Not so, if only those who are in power have the eye for justice and empathy for the ants that would be crushed in the battle of giants. I talked to his brother and he said that there would be an Eastwood City like development infront of Fantasy Island.

The condo units would start pre- selling on December (but I don't know if it would make it on the said date considering the DAR order.)

The DMCI- Urban/CGDI developers actually released its masterplan development of Almeda Highway earlier and included are the subdivisions now completed (St Jude 1, 2,3 and Orchard) and still being built (St, James) and still to be built (St. Francis), and a proposed Business Center known as St. Peter Square.

I'll repost the masterplan again in my next posts.

Bicol Tourist Arrivals Hit .5Million Mark

naga.gov.ph

FOREIGN tourist arrivals in Bicol rose by 19% while domestic tourists increased by 5% in 2005 compared to 2004 figures, latest report from the regional office of the Department of Tourism based in Legazpi City shows.

A total of 471,409 domestic tourists arrived in Bicol in 2005, compared to 449,295 posted during the previous year; foreign travelers numbered 29,969 in 2005 compared to 25,143 registered in 2004, or a total of 501,378 tourists (domestic and foreign) in 2005 as against 474,438 in 2004.

There is clearly a regional increase of 6% where for the first time Bicol hit the half million mark, which was DOT’s target for 2005.

Legazpi and Naga, the traditional hub for Albay and Camarines Sur, respectively, occupied the first two highest number of tourist arrivals. Legazpi/Albay registered a total number of 160,185 tourists in 2005 while Naga/Camarines Sur posted 144,252 tourists during the same period.

Legazpi/Albay’s increase, however, from its previous record in 2004 was pegged at only 5%, or one percentage point lower than the regional average of 6%; while Naga/Camarines Sur soared higher at 6.38%.

But the biggest performers in terms of improved arrivals are Catanduanes (from17,745 in 2004 to 28,305 in 2005) and Masbate (from 50,812 in 2004 to 62,512 in 2005) which posted an increase of 59.50% and 23.03%, respectively.

As expected, Legazpi/Albay posted the biggest number of foreign tourist arrivals at 15,372 in 2005 compared to second placer Naga/Camarines Sur’s 4,266.

http://naga.gov.ph/news/camsur-naga-top-tourist-arrivals-anew/

Once again, Camarines Sur and this city topped the regional distribution of incoming travelers for the year 2010, according to the latest data released by the regional office of the Department of Tourism based in Legazpi City.

By an overwhelming margin, Camarines Sur and Naga City posted a total of 2,330,116 domestic and foreign tourist arrivals for the period January to December 2010. This is 48.75 percent higher than previous year’s performance of 1,566,447.

On foreign travelers, Camarines Sur and Naga City churned out a total of 461,053 arrivals for 2010, a figure that is four times over than what Albay/Legazpi City produced during the same year which stood at 116,011. The regional total in foreign tourist arrivals for 2010 was posted at 681,134, which was 36.49 percent higher or 233,493 more than the previous year’s 447,641.

PCSO's STL audit out next week
By Perseus Echeminada
November 04, 2011

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is expected to complete its audit of gaming corporations operating small town lotteries (STL) by next week.

PCSO director Aleta Tolentino said the audit includes the evaluation of the project and the gaming companies’ compliance with PCSO’s implementing rules and regulations.

She said the launching of PCSO Loterya ng Bayan (PLB) has been deferred pending further evaluation of STL operations in various parts of the country.

At least 232 gaming corporations, including existing STL operators, have applied for a permit to operate PLBs in their respective localities.

The PCSO assured the public that it will tighten the screening of applicants to ensure that only legitimate gaming corporations and not fronts of big time illegal gambling operators get accredited.

PCSO records showed that applications to operate PLBs were filed for Pangasinan, Bulacan, Zambales, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pampanga, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Quirino and Cagayan.

At least seven applications were filed for Pangasinan alone.

There were also applications to operate PLB in Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Sorsogon.

Gaming corporations from the National Capital Region also filed PLB applications for the cities of Makati, Marikina, Pasay, Quezon and Taguig.

There were also applications in Negros Occidental, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Iloilo, and Zamboanga City.

PCSO is launching PLB to replace STL, which has been used as a front for jueteng.

Bum GOCC? Look again
Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez can be a discerning lawyer as he can be pragmatic lawmaker.

Rodriguez had originally included the obscure Partido Development Administration covering the 4th district of Camarines Sur in his “hit list’ of non-performing government enterprises, but he promptly struck the PDA off the list, realizing that it was doing its job and should be allowed to continue. “PDA is an existing agency helping the people in Camarines Sur. I now understand that it operates a level-three water system supplying potable water to all 10 municipalities in the four congressional districts of Camarines Sur. After understanding and knowing its operation and the good work that PDA is doing, I personally removed it from the list of GOCCs to be abolished in my bill. It is doing very well, is an operating concern, and is doing good work in CamarinesSur. The PDA is out of the list, it will not be abolished,” Rodriguez recently assured radio listeners in Naga City. Making Aquino commit
Speaking of transparency, we wonder why Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte keeps insisting that the findings of the Commission on Audit against his provincial administration are “mere observations.” Perhaps we should get back to Villafuerte when the adverse findings of the government auditing agency become the reason for his landing in jail for plunder at some future date.

For four years running, from 2007 to 2010, COA auditors accused Villafuerte of violating various laws and rules and regulations pertaining to revenues and expenditures. Villafuerte said COA’s findings have since been addressed. Read more (http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideOpinion.htm?f=2011/november/4/jojorobles.isx&d=2011/november/4)

Sunday Reflection
What does it mean to be wise today? Does the Lord call us to be wais, as many Filipinos understand it? To be wais is to be as cunning as a snake. We also know it as tuso. We have many of these in public office. This is, for instance, the reason why we have now five districts in Camarines Sur. The same reason why they want to divide Camarines Sur. And…those who strongly oppose such division, they have the same reason as well.

The devil is wearing many masks. Evil is covered with many sugar coatings. The problem of our age is superficiality. We are attracted to masks and sugar coatings. No wonder, the devil always eludes us. No wonder, our age has an intense degree of blindness to evil. Read more (http://www.voxbikol.com/content/sunday-reflection-14)

The father of the grandmother of all scams
Trivino was originally known as Uy Han Kiat. He also used the name George Uy. Triviño eventually adopted the name of his godfather, the late Bicol politician Juan Triviño. He fled to the Dominican Republic at the height of the PEA-Amari scandal and according to reports, he got a new citizenship there.

But now he’s back and we can only guess what deals he is cooking. Documents from the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Trivino is one of the incorporators of the Caramoan Dam HydroElectric Power Corp. In fact, he is recorded in the SEC papers as the owner of 225,000 shares of the total 250,000 shares in the company which has an authorized capital stock of P100 million.Full article here (http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideOpinion.htm?f=2011/november/4/alvincapino.isx&d=2011/november/4)

This is really serious for Gov. L-Ray either now or in the future.
I heard this is the primary reason to why the old politicians would like to create a new Camarines :ohno: ( you can also see this in the Duwang Camarines TV ADS)

For me, I don't see why, they need to divide Camarines just because of plunder, why they can't find a way to bring him to court or remove him from the office than dividing the province. :ohno:

Anti-Epal Bill by Meriam Defensor Santiago
November 5th, 2011

“Epal” is a Filipino slang term meaning always wanted his/her presence felt, scene-stealers.

Now, Senator Meriam Defensor Santiago passed the Senate Bill No. 1967 or ”Anti-Epal Bill” which focuses on politicians who keeps on posting their names to their projects like footbridge, streets and many more.

This law will have an “anti-epal” measure who will abduct bureaucrats who claims credit for projects that actually came from public funds. Santiago included to her note that it s already a practice for leaders to show what they have done.

It is a prevalent practice among public officers, whether elected or appointed, to append their names to public works projects which were either funded or facilitated through their office.

She also included that this practice is very unnecessary and highly unethical, she added that this promotes culture of political patronage and corruption.

This bill will allow logo and names, but not of the person, but of the government agency.

This bill is currently undergoing deliberations whether or not the bill will be passed or not. A netizen said that this bill makes sense unlike the “Anti-Planking Law.”

Hope this would come into fruition!

MICROTEL Development Corp. (MDC), the hospitality arm of the Phinma Group, is eyeing new sites for more Microtel Inns and Suites, a chain of economy hotels.

Its president Jose Mari del Rosario, in an interview over the weekend, said among the locations being considered are Dagupan, Angeles City (Pampanga), Dumaguete, Cagayan de Oro, Naga City and General Santos City.

“There is really growth in domestic tourism,” del Rosario said, adding that at least three Microtels would be put up this year.

On the average, a Microtel hotel has 50 to 60 rooms, each one built at a cost of P1.8 million per room. But if a Microtel hotel is located in a tourist or resort locations, it normally has a bigger number of rooms or about 160, just like the one located in Mactan, Cebu.

MDC currently operates Microtel hotels in Baguio City, Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas, Boracay, Davao, Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Cabanatuan and Mactan, Cebu.

Del Rosario said they are scheduled to open this year the 10th Microtel within the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City. The planned hotel will have 150 rooms.

“We cater to both local and international business travelers and value-minded tourists. We will fill the growing, and as yet, unmet, demand for cost-efficient business travel,” he said.

In 2007, MDC introduced Hawthorn Suites, a quality extended hotel stay brand from the United States. Del Rosario said it was the success of Microtel Philippines that encouraged them to bring Hawthorn Suites. They also saw demand for an upscale extended stay brand, especially travelers who stay longer in the urban cities.

If these would all materialized, we expect the following hotels to open;

this year
1. ADC Hotel
2. Sampaguita Magsaysay (branch 3) 2 are located along Panganiban and back of San Francisco (extension?)

next year
1. Eurotel
2. Sogo Hotel

soon
1. Fridays Hotel
2. Microtel

1. Naga Restaurant
2. The Park

4. Jollibee (negotiation)

World diabetes day update.

The Cathedral Grounds would be bathed in blue lights together with other great monuments and landmarks around the world.

The list include the Singapore Flyer, Empire Estate Building, Eiffel Tower, Sydney Harbor, Parthenon at the Acropolis to name a few.

The Porta Mariae and the cathedral grounds, together with four other major cities in the Philippines would be beamed live by the International Diabetes Federation during the continuous simultaneous lighting (according to time zone) on November 14.

Lighting Up ceremonies would begin in New Zealand and Australia.

Mr. Larry Martin of the Pinoy Biggest Loser would be our inspirational guest and would serve as a perfect model for the anti- obesity campaign of the Diabetes Philippines.

Diabetes screening by candle light, Health Care Booths and Health Related Food products booth are open at the cathedral gorund prior to the light up ceremonies.

7 PM is the formal light up to be headed by the Mayor and the Archbishop of Caceres.

Our very own SSC Camsur President, Oragon (pau) is the emcee. This would be Pau's first international media exposure.

This is our rare chance to see and take photos of the cathedral grounds bathed in blue.

Incidentally, Fr. Badiola commented that blue is the color of the Virgin Mary.

A blissful coincidence for the Pilgrim City represented by Naga.

It’s our official color too.

Yes, I believe it would be the third branch of Mang Inasal. Although it was not included on the list above, I already heard it earlier that it would open in Puregold. True enough- they were the very first one to put up the sign.

Third Shakey's, 6th Jollibee, 6th Bigg's, 3rd The Park, and 2nd Starbucks (I doubt if this would push thru- Puregold and Starbucks seem not to be a perfect brew:lol:)

Just a personal opinion (no offense meant for Puregold), Shakey's, The Park and Starbucks I think would not open in Puregold which has a totally different target market as compared to Magsasysay Avenue's Various Lifestyle Centers, SM, Ayala and Robinsons. :)

I may be wrong as pau did not put the "under negotiation" clause on these restaurants so I beleive its a done deal since his source is the Puregold/ALDP's Mall Operations Manager.

Anyway I'm happy for the additional businesses opening in the city. The more the merrier.

The Grand ALDP/Puregold Mall Plan

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff507/Nagacity/008-1.jpg

Also another personal observation.

This Puregold (Center Structure), ALDP Mall (left) and the Multi- level parking (right), Condo housing units (at the back) is indeed a grand project.

The design is otherwise soooo ordinary as if it was planned in the 80's.

I hope ALDP would hire a really good architectural firm to redesign this rather outdated grand plan.:)

The Puregold Mall renovation is turning out rather well though.

If these would all materialized, we expect the following hotels to open;

this year
1. ADC Hotel
2. Sampaguita Magsaysay (branch 3) 2 are located along Panganiban and back of San Francisco (extension?)

next year
1. Eurotel
2. Sogo Hotel

soon
1. Fridays Hotel
2. Microtel

More economy hotels in Naga! I'd love to see a lot of functional and perennially fully-booked hotels than posh hotels which don't see visitors more often than not.:D

^^

Also based on the said floor plan, Puregold Supermarket would occupy at least 85%of the mall's first floor.

This supermarket would also be bigger than SM and Robinson's. It would be the biggest supermarket in the Bicol Region when it opens.

It is also good that DIY also decided to expand their store.

What are they doing actually?

They transferred it to every corner of the long plant box located just above its original site. My worry, is that every piece and bits of that monument has a rich historical value which must be preserve and looking at how they tore down the foundation of the statues they simply smash it thus, destroying the lower part of the statues. :ohno:

22nd Ad Congress: Game changers unite (http://business.inquirer.net/28875/22nd-ad-congress-game-changers-unite)
By: Kate Pedroso
Philippine Daily Inquirer
2:06 am | Monday, November 7th, 2011

For the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress to be truly “game-changing,” change had to come from within—in this case, from the committee heads of the 22nd Ad Congress themselves.
“One of the first tasks of the Ad Congress chair is to choose a team that has the same vision. I’m so happy and grateful that I am able to find a team that is so dedicated,” says Philippine Daily Inquirer president Alexandra Prieto-Romualdez, the 22nd Ad Congress chairperson.
“The committee chairs were fantastic in really trying to create an Ad Congress that will hopefully inspire change, and the key is they themselves had to try and challenge the status quo,” she says. “The delegates should keep an open mind. Anything that involves change has many challenges and imperfections. What’s important is the desire to look for ways to improve the way we do things.”
“It was also nice to have some time with the President, as he graciously listened to the issues being faced by the industry,” she adds.
Behind AdCongress 22, which will be held on November 16 to 19 at the CamSur Watersports Complex in Camarines Sur, are Blen Fernando of Alaska Milk Corp. (administration committee head); Merlee Jayme of DM9 Advertising Agency (creative committee head); Hans Roxas-Chua of BlueBlade Technologies and eLearning Edge (co-chairman of the 22nd Ad Congress)

Yes, 12 flights for both CEB and Air Phil. A plane every hour at the airport.

I hope SSC CamSur would put update on the AdCongress on the thread.

We would be leaving for Ho Chi Minh on the 15th and return a week later. I'll look for updates on this thread.

Updates:
A. 7-Eleven Panganiban branch will open this wednesday.

B. 7-Eleven Caceres St. ( Formerly Padian st.) starts renovating the former Robinson bank -up and down level. This would probably be a largest 7-ELEVEN store or a 24Hr Convenient store in the Southern Luzon.

Let's just wait for more 24 hr convenient stores to be established in the city. Next year another 24 hr convenient store that will compete 7- Eleven.

A two level 7 Eleven?

I think the 7- Eleven in Ateneo is also pretty big considering that they would be occupying the old will print office.

2nd Bicol Express trip mulled (http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/340406/2nd-bicol-express-trip-mulled)
By KRIS BAYOS
November 7, 2011, 5:15pm

MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine National Railways (PNR) is studying additional trips for the Bicol Express after its ridership doubled during the last All Saints’ Day break.

PNR General Manager Jun Ragrario said the PNR board is considering a second trip for the Bicol Express, which runs between Tutuban in Manila and Naga City in Camarines Sur daily, after its passenger volume increased from October 28 to November 2 with only a minimal drop after the peak season for travel.

Ragrario said the Bicol Express, which can accommodate at least 152 passengers per trip, usually has 35 percent of its seats filled during lean seasons. But the passenger volume doubled during the traditional exodus to the provinces.

“Undas (All Saints) proved to be an opportunity for us to market the Bicol Express because only a few passengers knew that it was already operational,” he said.

After unloading the firewood bundles, the same men must carry those on their shoulders to the dam's ground level where I thought they'd be loaded unto a waiting vehicle. But when I looked, they were carrying those bundles further up the hill to a dirt road above the dam where an animal waited to carry those loads. I couldn't make clear if it was a horse or a cow as it was far up there, though I knew it was not a carabao from the whitish color of the beast. That dirt road up there is on opposite side of that which we came from. I asked how much each of those bundles would be selling for and one of the men replied ‘nine pesos’. Golly the muscle you must flex to earn that nine pesos!

Nice foresty tranquil getaway! And we thought Caramoan was all sea, sun and sand!

Either my driver was driving too fast or the sun was mightily cooperating to give me a very long day! Arriving in front of Rex Inn at centro, I was actually already happy with what I have seen and ready to get off the trike but driver said it was not yet dark and asked if I wanted to roam more. Wheh?! One for the books… this was one rare incident in my travels where I got asked if I wanted to see more. Rare really! So I asked what else nearby can I see, and manong driver told me there is another freshwater lake, a dam actually that is just nearby and he can take me there until dusk catches up on us. Not that I was not taking precautions, but the manong seemed sincere and harmless, so I said let’s go!

The Hanopol dam lies somewhere southwest of town center. This meant we had to pass by the church again, and further south. Far if you walk but just a zip away on the habal-habal. Its not a la Pantabangan nor Binga nor something like that. It is small really. But what a quiet and serene place, even bird sounds echoed everywhere. Mesmerizing sights and sounds of nature! And mind you, the forest gets a bit pleasingly noisier as the skies become darker. Did you ever notice that? I did here. I could not even distinguish anymore if this and that sound was of an animal, a bird or an insect! It was just a merry cacophony that seemed to highlight the peace and quiet of the lake.

After more or less two hours, we arrived at Guijalo Port where our tour guide was waiting for us. We were on a backpacking trip and supposedly we will arrange our island hopping tour once we get to Caramoan. However, in my research regarding this trip, I came across the name of a local who operates island hopping tours in the island through the blog of Happy Sole. I contacted Kuya Ramil in advance to see if we can get a good deal for his service. He offered big discount so we decided to hire him. He also offered to be our tour guide once we arrived in the island for free.

A two level 7 Eleven?

I think the 7- Eleven in Ateneo is also pretty big considering that they would be occupying the old will print office.

7-Eleven on Ateneo Ave will be relatively small. They made the area smaller so as to allow a parking area to be built around the store. It may be the size of 7-Eleven-UNC or even smaller.

The multi level parking design is okay for me.:)

It looks like well- a multi level parking.

They transferred it to every corner of the long plant box located just above its original site. My worry, is that every piece and bits of that monument has a rich historical value which must be preserve and looking at how they tore down the foundation of the statues they simply smash it thus, destroying the lower part of the statues. :ohno:

I don't recall a long plant box in the Plaza Rizal. Hhmmm. But I hope even they transfer it somewhere nice where its beauty can still be observed.

Also, having second thought on the plan especially on Shakeys and SB. The OIC mentioned that they are dealing with SB in Magsaysay were in fact, dealings for such has to be made directly to SB Phil (I maybe wrong).

Yes, you're right Pau. If a company wants their area to host a Starbucks store, they have to directly talk to the owner of the Philippine franchise of SB, which is Rustan's. I don't know why the OIC said they were dealing with SB Magsaysay. :dunno:

http://www.pinoytravelfreak.com/

I just saw that there is a 4 am bus going to Caramoan from the Naga City terminal. That means there is a direct ride going from Manila to Caramoan.

Departure from Manila around 8-9 p.m.

Arrive in Naga City : 3-4:00 am and leave around 4:00 am to Caramoan

7-Eleven on Ateneo Ave will be relatively small. They made the area smaller so as to allow a parking area to be built around the store. It may be the size of 7-Eleven-UNC or even smaller.

Correct Kev, based on the picture, It seems the the future store renovated to make it smaller and allow new parking area. Anyway if it would make more customers the better :). than having a bigger store with less customer.

The corner of Ateneo Ave. is very strategic not only for Ateneo and USI student but the resident of Bagumbayan and travellers going to the towns of Canaman,Magarao, Bonbon, Quipayo & Calabanga.

[FONT="Trebuchet MS"][SIZE="3"][COLOR="Navy"]I just saw that there is a 4 am bus going to Caramoan from the Naga City terminal. That means there is a direct ride going from Manila to Caramoan.

Departure from Manila around 8-9 p.m.

Arrive in Naga City : 3-4:00 am and leave around 4:00 am to Caramoan

yup there are buses that go straight to Caramoan. the photo of the penafrancia bus posted is bound for Caramoan.

this is good as there is a good market for this route. i hope that esp for the summer months when more tourists come, the lazy boy service will be made
available for Caramoan.

Survival Guide for the 22nd Ad Congress (http://www.adcongress.com.ph/survival_10_getready.php)

Get Ready to Take On the CamSur Challenge

CamSur – the top destination of adventurers and thrill seekers. People who visit are ready for anything. Of course, they have a knack for water sports and physical activity, but we don't have to be tri-athletes to make the most of AdCongress22 in CamSur. Some preparation and these smart moves will make sure an AdCongress22 delegate is as game as ever:

• Don't spend November 16 to 19 agonizing over unfinished business. Accomplish all work before hitting CamSur.

• Get plenty of sleep and rest before the ad congress to get to enjoy all the seminars and activities.

• This isn't the time to skip breakfast, or any meals at all. The ad congress promises a long and busy day so power up during mealtimes.

• Take plenty of water and fluids. It's going to be hot in CamSur.

• Wear comfortable clothes. A suit and heels look killer for big events, but navigating CamSur in them the whole day will kill you!

• Please, respect the speakers and delegates by putting mobile phones in silent mode. And if you must take a phone call, do it outside.

• Ad congress parties are a blast. But live to drink another day by consuming alcoholic beverages moderately and responsibly.

• Dispose your rubbish properly to help keep CamSur clean and pleasant for AdCongress22 and our local hosts.

* Visit our Facebook, Twitter and website regularly for the latest AdCongress22 updates.

Updates:

Same thing here rhyz.

Never seen a 2 level 7- Eleven before.

Baka store room, ang second floor.

wow they're all here now.

Yes father Son, from major broadsheets (Manila Bulletin and Inquirer) and major TV stations (ABS- CBN, GMA 7, TV5).

This month we also witnessed the opening of several branded stores in Naga City: Von Dutch, Tribal, Sanuk, Island Souvenirs and soon Bratpack.

Fastfood: 5th Jollibee, and soon Mexicali and McDonalds (the 5th in Magsaysay), Mocha Blends in Centro, Mang Inasal and another Jollibee in Puregold Mall.

This huge Puregold Mall once it opens is an investment magnet so expect to see for more restaurants coming up.

Convenience Stores: seven 7- Elevens Stores opening up 5 in Naga and 2 in Pili.

2 Condo projects (ALDP Condos and Manda).

5 Hotels: Sampaguita Magsaysay, ADC's Magsaysay, Sogo Hotel, Fantasy Island and Eurotel.

The bandwagon effect never stops.
