Same colors sir garz, blue and yellow.

According to PKF (STI VP) "the only way is up" :) 7-storeys is the plan but we need to prove to them that we can reach and sustain good enrolment numbers.

nice colors- blue and yellow! all the best to STI- may your tribe ever increase!

Also, the Philippines Society of Anesthesiologist Convention this April 19-22.

Thanks sir!

i hope the coming of so many anesthesiologists do not make us all numb hehehe :lol::lol:

^^We miss you chilli peppers... One of the firsts in Magsaysay or probably the first....

though there were already some places along magsaysay -- villa caceres and a few watering holes among them -- chilli peppers started to draw the yuppies crowd as well as families that in not time coco leaf ( do i remember the name of the rest right?) nearby came.

Thanks for the update Sir Bob!

Hope the City and Advent (Bichara) management make use of the wall fronting the General Luna as LED ad wall same that of Avenue Square. The LED board in Plaza according to Mr. Padre was transferred to another location.

The former Advent/Biggs, now Ukay ukay store contract will finish on May 2012, By then we will know, if the owner will going to lease it from other companies, and also the Former KFC, now Ukay ukay store will also finish this April 2012 . Hope things will change for the betterment of the City

If I'm not mistaken, I heard from very reliable sources that the Advent Building is already owned by Multi- Brand. It would be temporarily used by the appliance store while they renovate their old building beside the Postal Bank (now Caramel Bake Shop) this year.

This I would try to check as the children of owners of Mutlibrand are colleagues in the profession and their son is my son's classmate in school.

Yes Doc, they purchased it last year. You can ask him (colleagues) as a reliable source. What i really know, the Advent building is for lease. But it would be nice if they will renovate the old wooden building.

inquired with the zestair cebu office as i was in the area few days ago. staff explained that they do not have enough aircraft to begin with and so naga and other to-be-(re)opened flights using the small aircraft are scrapped for the meantime. sounded like they were expecting the arrival of new aircraft (and it did not happen).

friends who were in fact booked on a zestair flight from cebu to manila on sinulog day (yesterday) were told that their flight was canceled; their manila-cebu flight was also canceled. i was in the ticketing office to rebook their flights.

http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af40/ateneodenagauniversity/AdNUPress.jpg

Naga City—The Ateneo de Naga University opens 2012 with the formal opening of its university press by launching books of translations in Bikol by two of the region`s noted contemporary writers. When it is launched on Friday, January 20, 2012, the AdNU Press is the newest addition to the list of academic publishing centers in the country.

Fr. Wilmer Joseph S. Tria, AdNU Press Director, discloses that one of its goals is to become the premier resource of Bikoliana in the world. As an academic publishing house, AdNU Press is open to all who are interested to have a manuscript published. Fr. Tria further adds that optimum quality of materials to be published is a primary requirement, and, therefore, as practiced by university presses worldwide, all submitted manuscripts will be subjected to necessary evaluations.

Before Magsaysay took over, Mayon Avenue was supposed to be the next entertainment district in Naga City in the 1990's

It was teeming with restaurants then like Cappuccino ( the original Naga based Coffee Shop), Triboo Grill, Bergee (that offered a European Cuisine), Kanyaman (A native restaurant that offered Casili as it's specialty), a Mediterranean inspired restaurant (Forgot the Name) that offered healthy cuisine and Rolando's Kitchen to name a few.

Except for the Triboo Grill (which even renovated and expanded their original restaurant), most of Mayon Avenue's restaurants have closed down as the city's entertainment district moved to the nearby Magsaysay Avenue.

yes Mayon was quietly rising and steaming when Magsaysay took over. :) good thing Triboo Grill has not only remained but even expanded in the same place and now in SM Naga.

Champagne Garden which is a favorite wedding and events venue is also in Mayon- apo drive to be exact. there is a newly opened bakery just across Champagne.

^^I only remember Triboo Grill which originated from that area. Good that Mayor is reviving this idea as Magsaysay is getting crowded nowadays and at least people could have an alternative choice.

Mayon is certainly a good alternative- not too far as it is even within walking distance from City Hall. being in a residential area there is a relaxed feel in Mayon.

Cappucino, come back! :cheers::cheers::cheers:

^^I have tried Kopi Roti's homemade barley... I love it! :okay:

What does roti mean? Kopi means coffee, right?

yes, barley drink's the best!:cheers::cheers:

Photo shows the tents provided by the provincial government of Camarines Sur for 145 families evacuated from four barangays in Bato town.

MANILA, Philippines - At least 145 families evacuated from the shores of Lake Bato and nearby low-lying areas in Camarines Sur at the height of typhoon “Juaning” last July will be given permanent homes.

Gov. Luis Villafuerte said the evacuees would no longer be allowed to go back to their homes, which were deemed as high-risk areas.

The main office of this bank is in Lipa City, Batangas.

Based from its website (http://malarayatbank.com/branches), it will open a branch in Km. 13, Brgy. Carolina, Naga City.

Thanks for the effort in finding this info Hakz, This is the first time that the location of a savings bank is located far from the Central Business District, quite similar to First Naga Bank which is also located in Barangay Del Rosario, but the difference it's along the National Road.
The first thing that comes to my mind, why they choose barangay Carolina area, is that people are into Agro-Industrial, Ateneo De Naga University, Ayala (Avida) resident, Resorts-leisure industry, and a large number of Bicolano with Batangueno ancestry into farm industry.

Hopefully we can visit that place.

Basilica Joggers Gift Giving

December 30 was a Spirit-filled day for the members of the Basilica Joggers Club. They hosted breakfast for some 500 children at the Caceres Catechetical Center. The kids also enjoyed fun and games with the Jolibee mascots, then all went home. with an additional bag of goodies. A little girl was seen bundling her breakfast in a Styrofoam container so she was asked why she did not eat it, she said she’ll bring it home to share with her brother whom she left behind; a truly moving gesture!

This is one scene one can see in this yearly activity of the Club during Christmastime, under the leadership of Naga businessman and Club President Raul Rocha and 2011 Project Chairman, Evan Sychay, to bring cheer to some of Naga’s marginalized. Msgr Rodel Cajot said the blessing before the meal and then delivered a Christmas message.

3 martyred Caceres priests remembered
Among 11 Bikolnons shot in B’bayan

A solemn Eucharistic celebration was offered last January 4, 2012 (Wednesday) for the fifteen Bicol Martyrs who gave their lives for justice and freedom in January of 1897. Held at the San Francisco Parish Church at six o’clock in the morning, it was concelebrated by Rev. Msgr. Nelson Tria, Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr. Paul de Guzman, Chaplain of the Military Ordinariate.

In his homily, the latter said that the Bicol Martyrs serve as an inspiration for everyone “to do whatever love requires, love for God and love for one’s country”. In addition, he said that it is the pride of the Bicolanos to be blessed with such a prestigious and significant role in the history of Philippine Independence.

Of the fifteen, three were from the Clergy of Caceres, Rev. Fr. Severino Diaz, Rev. Fr. Inocencio Herrera and Rev. Fr. Gabriel Prieto.

Caceres Catechetical Center marks 25th

A circular was issued by the Archbishop announcing the 25th year celebration of the Caceres Catechetical Center (CCC) on January 20-21, 2012. Since last year, it has scheduled a monthly archdiocesan activity for its various stakeholders – its founder, the catechists, the parents and children, the teachers in public and private schools, the CCM staff, and the CCC graduates among others. Over the years, the ministry has been actively promoting the goals of catechesis in a way that forges alliances with various institutions, commissions and agencies of the government.

Indeed, CCC has many things to celebrate and to thank God for during its silver anniversary with the theme “CCC at 25: Celebration, Commitment and Challenge.” Among those invited speakers and guests are: Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi, Bishop Gilbert Garcera of Daet, Amb. Tita de Villa, Fr. Primitivo Viray, SJ.

^^ Let me guess, Figaro?

I wish it would be Figaro as it would complete the impressive line up of top notch coffee shops in Naga City. Starbucks, Kopi Roti, The Coffee Beanery and Mocha Blends.

Complementing is the growing Tea Shops like Moonleaf, Bubble Tea and another one opening near Gourmet Pao (I saw the signage at the building yesterday)

Puregold opens La Trinidad outlet
PUREGOLD Price Club Inc., the country’s second-largest supermarket chain, said it opened its first store this year in La Trinidad, Benguet, as part of an aggressive strategy to expand outside the Philippine capital.

In a statement on Tuesday, Puregold said the store is also its 101st outlet and the first of 25 stores planned for 2012. “La Trinidad is considered as one of the central business districts of Benguet,” Puregold said in its statement.

The company is eyeing other regional locations in Davao, Rizal, Cavite, Pangasinan, Mountain Province, Ilocos, Camarines Sur, Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Leyte, Albay and Mindoro, supported by an initial public offering held last year that raised at least P7.5 billion.  Read more (http://businessmirror.com.ph/home/companies/22054-puregold-opens-la-trinidad-outlet)

House bill vs profiteering during emergencies pushed
AN opposition legislator is pushing for the immediate approval of a bill that would prevent suppliers of essential commodities from using abnormal market disruptions to mask their profiteering schemes at the expense of public welfare and national security.

In seeking the passage of House Bill 1229, or the proposed “National Emergency Anti-Profiteering Act,” Lakas-Kampi-CMD Rep. Diosdado “Dato” Macapagal Arroyo of Camarines Sur, stressed that profiteering in essential products at the expense of public interest is nothing less than economic sabotage which must never be allowed or tolerated. Good Morning Pao, is this the one that offers Health menu or Organic Resto in Mayon st.?

I heard about the Solar Powered Street Lights in the new today, this is a very smart and environmental move by Mayor Bongat.

It is a PPP endeavor according to Mayor Bongat with a Korean investor.

Talk to the Naga franchisee of Gourmet Pao, she also mentioned of PaoPao Xiaochi to open here in Naga.

the biggest banks in the country are in Naga City, except for Citi bank, I think. or do we have them now here in Naga?

We don't have a CitiBank yet. But I'm hoping and positive that Citi, HSBC, Deutsch Bank (I soooo hope!), etc will put up their branches in the city. :)

Actually Citibank Savings is looking for location in Naga City, that's the information i got. Maybe HSBC savings will follow.

Most bank managers believe there will be more new banks to be open this year.

Buhi LDO to screen fish cage operators
BUHI, Camarines Sur -- Lake Buhi fish cage operators, now numbering 1,037, will be screened by the Lake Development Office of this town when they renew their permits this year.

Buhi Lake Development Officer Ronel M. Leal said the current number of fish cage operators in the 1,600-hectare lake could decrease if many of them do not pass the police set for owning fish cages granted only to local fisherfolks. ^^I will just wait for the official press releases of Robinson's or whatever mall to be constructed in Naga.

I never knew Gateway or the Araneta Group at that has any plans of expanding in the provinces. I'm more inclined not be believe it. :)

Gateway is an Araneta Group development just like Ali Mall. :)

Wow, nice update.. But still fingers crossed.. Gateway is unimaginable for me to expand in provinces at this moment.. It could be their first mall outside MM...

Let's see, as I always say: 2012 is an exciting year!:banana::banana:

Note the backdrop of the Lipa Cathedral in the photo.

my sources of the list are the websites of the different banks, Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and personal knowledge. Kaya kung may nalingawan ako, idagdag niyo na lang po..
I'm sure it's more than 80... many new banks are sprouting in Partido, especially in Goa and Tigaon.. Tigaon has now a Landbank... (It wasn't included in your list)So I believe it's more or less 90 banks now! Even Calabanga has newly opened bank...

I really love to post all the banks in Camarines Sur, but we don't have access ( far distance ) of all the towns. To check the details of alll the Rural and Savings bank, we need to visit. I believe it is more than 80 banks , Since in Naga City had 49-50 banks this year. There is a need to count it in every town, unless our SSC Cam Sur members have the time to take pics and count for us :)

Visited the Metro Naga Tourism office this afternoon at the City hall, here's what transpired during our discussion.

1. Extensive and Vibrant promotion of tourism sites not only Naga City but also towns and municipalities part of Metro Naga.

2. Said project will be initially funded by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency)

3. Some of the noteworthy projects are:
1. Bicol Ferry
2. Cable Car Isarog
3. Isarog Camp Sites
4. Resort development in Calabanga

4. The project timeline is January 2012 - Dec. 2013

5. Creation of complete tour package that will include not only Naga City but also nearby town tourism attractions, like;
1. Leaning belfry of Bombon
2. Leaning tower of Milaor
3. Old church of Calabanga

The said projects envisions to create a balance and more robust tourism activities in Metro Naga.

Buzz :)

A group of investors affiliated with a multinational company is mulling to acquire an academic institution here in Naga. The said multinational company is into telecommunication, broadcast industry and recently in the hot seat in his bid to acquire our country's flag carrier. The company CEO is one of the VIP's in the recent Ads Congress here in Naga City.

More clue

in one of the article in the latest issue of bicolmail. i think Joe Perez wrote that Naga City should have a good and sustainable tourist attraction aside from the bicol foods here and penafrancia fiesta, since CWC and caramoan are not is Naga city. He was proposing to develop Mt. Isarog and its natural resources to a world class attraction..

I'm excited to see and experience the cable car in Mt. Isarog in the future.

2. Said project will be initially funded by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency)

3. Some of the noteworthy projects are:
1. Bicol Ferry
2. Cable Car Isarog
3. Isarog Camp Sites
4. Resort development in Calabanga

4. The project timeline is January 2012 - Dec. 2013

5. Creation of complete tour package that will include not only Naga City but also nearby town tourism attractions, like;

More clue
He was interviewed by the feisty Korina Sanchez during the AdCon :)

:banana: cheers for Naga and Bicol!

Pasacao does not have white sand, AFAIK... They have brown sand(Is that the term?) Siruma has white beaches but the problem is the infra connecting tinambac and Siruma.. The good news is it's being addressed now...

yes sir garz.. the white sand beaches in siruma should be developed and be prmoted. I went there 5 years ago for a Gawad Kalinga build and enjoyed the beaches and sea food there in siruma. the government can invite investors to put up resorts. but they should construct first a world class roads there that are not substandard .:)

If I'm not mistaken, Tinambac-Siruma has a 30-km distance and 50% of that is being done now... At least travel time would be cut by more or less 45 minutes....:okay:

I was in Siruma in 2006 and indeed beaches are great! :okay:

Visited the Metro Naga Tourism office this afternoon at the City hall, here's what transpired during our discussion.

1. Extensive and Vibrant promotion of tourism sites not only Naga City but also towns and municipalities part of Metro Naga.

2. Said project will be initially funded by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency)

3. Some of the noteworthy projects are:
1. Bicol Ferry
2. Cable Car Isarog
3. Isarog Camp Sites
4. Resort development in Calabanga

5. Creation of complete tour package that will include not only Naga City but also nearby town tourism attractions, like;
1. Leaning belfry of Bombon
2. Leaning tower of Milaor
3. Old church of Calabanga

The said projects envisions to create a balance and more robust tourism activities in Metro Naga.

Buzz :)

more good news for us! good to know that historical sites are being given attention -- this sector (historical places) still is largely untapped, imo (particularly the old churches). we can learn much from the experience of bohol tourism.

CamSur animation program
increases number of trainees

The program of the provincial government offering free animation training via the Gov. Lray Animation Training Program extends its period for accepting applicants who wish to avail of the program, aiming to fill vacant slots and thus opening training to more young potential artists in the province.

This is the decision reached by its administrators despite classes having started last January 9. It was noted that some applicants failed to actually join the program on time and thus needed another opportunity.

The program has allocated 35 slots for assistant animators and 16 slots for Animators to comprise the 17th batch of assistant animators and the 9th batch of animators respectively. Trainees are provided with transportation allowance.

Screening of applicants is being conducted at the CamSur Animation Studio, Provincial Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Interested individuals may inquire at telephone numbers 4754802 and 4730546 for further details of the training. FERNANDEZ/MMEC

Just for clarification. The very purpose on posting the figures or numbers of the institution is to inform and serve public viewers that would help them and their institution/company for future decisions. This topic is also related to cities, places and business travel ahead.

But this is not to;
1. Impress Individual, people or other thread.

2. Compare from other cities, provinces or region.

Every morning, City sweepers clean the stalls at the Plaza and even the statue of Rizal.

Just an observation, the stretch of Panganiban during rush hours, smoke belchers is worst. Hope the City can do something about it.
