Camsur hosts kick off leg of Paddle World Series (http://www.malaya.com.ph/03192012/sports2.html)
http://www.malaya.com.ph/03192012/images/spor2.jpg

CAMARINES Sur, which is now known globally as a hotspot for watersports and extreme sporting events and the country’s top tourism destination, has won the bid to host the first leg of the Stand Up Paddle World Series.

This was announced by Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte, who said they are preparing hard for the successful staging of the event in the coastal town of San Jose.

"We will be ensuring this is going to be a world class event, and I’m committed in promoting this new sport like we developed and promoted wakeboarding. My vision is to make the Philippines the stand up paddleboard capital of the world.

"We have 7,107 islands, beautiful lakes and rivers and all we have to do is host world class events such as this to make the world know the best place to paddleboard is in the Philippines," Villafuerte said, adding they are developing San Jose as the next hotspot destination for sports and eco-tourism in the province.

The international competition, dubbed as the CamSur World Paddle Challenge, will be held on April 19-23. This event, which offers $20,000 in prize money, will feature the best stand up paddle racers in the world battle it out for vital World Series points in the first Major World Championship Stand Up Paddle event to take place in Asia.

With its world renowned CamSur Watersports Complex, the province has already established itself as a focal point and premiere destination for watersports as well as international sporting events in Asia.

It hosted the Wind or No Wind Board Jam kite boarding championship last December, the Cobra Philippines Ironman triathlon from 2009 to 2011, and the 2008 and 2009 WWA Wake Park World Championship. It also hosted the Ultimate Wake Championship in January last year, the last and final stop of the 2010 WWA Wake Park World Series and the WWA Wakeboard World Series.

The Stand Up World Series provides a professional competitive platform for the world’s best stand up paddle racers to determine the legitimate men’s, women’s and Under-16 world champions.

After three years of Ironman, CamSur is moving on to a new phase and new trend of excitement.

The organizers of Ironman had nothing but good words about CamSur hosting the event for historic 3 years.

"...Honestly, I have nothing but good words to say about the three Ironmans held in Camsur. Camsur will forever be associated with Ironman Philippines and for all the right reasons. But the only thing permanent in this world is change right?"

As what Sec. Mon says, hospitality is the key to a successful tourism in the Philippines!

nothing beats personal touch. word of mouth promotes well.

This is what i've learned from my mom being an environmentalist. Once you build something in a place it will always have an effect to the environment, the ecosystem is distrubed.

I like Caramoan the way it is. It's a haven for adventure best kept in CamSur.

I'm not against hotels and tourism per se, we might be enjoying it today and the effect is not seen today, but in the future.

sustainability should always be a major concern in our development plans.

true :okay: iba talaga kapag first hand experience

and quite disappointing lang duman sa Matukad.. medyo may mga trash na sa gilid kasi napansin ko a lot of people eat lunch there.. eto very ironic, may environmental fee na binabayadan na 25 pesos pagbaba sa Guijalo Port. anong use kang si 25 kung dai man na mmaintain ang kalinigan duman. :(

and i also hope tourists both local and foreign should be responsible enough in disposing their trash. simplehon man lang baga, island yan, kung makakan ka duman, darahon mo ulit ang mga ginamit mo o kaya kinakanan mo. tsk tsk

CamSur to stage paddle World Series leg
MANILA, Philippines—Camarines Sur adds to its reputation as a hotspot for watersports and extreme sporting events by hosting the first leg of the Stand Up Paddle World Series on April 19 to 23 off the coast of San Jose town.

Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte said Sunday the province recently won the bid to host the leg as he pledged to ensure that everything would be ready for the staging of the competition, which will be held in Asia for the first time.

“We will be ensuring that this is going to be a world-class event,” said Villafuerte. “My vision is to make the Philippines the stand-up paddleboard capital of the world.” Read more (http://sports.inquirer.net/38311/camsur-to-stage-paddle-world-series-leg)

If ever he runs for the governorship, he should campaign hard in 35 towns and 1 city in CamSur because he won't get any vote from Naga. :)

I agree.

Reyes Barbecue has been our favorite restaurant ever since it opened in Naga.

All their grilled specialties a sooo good and sooo tasty. The peanut sauce is divine.

Truth to tell, we've only been to Mang Inasal twice. In SM when we "tried" how it is and didn't really like it that much. It was a pwede na restaurant.

And in Iriga- as that was the only available restaurant in the vicinity of the Iriga City Market where we got a parking. The other choice was Jollibee Iriga in the other side of the road and my son thankfully has been weaned out from his "Jabee' days when he turned seven years old.

Reyes Barbecue is to die for...

And another plus factor- the restaurant is not overcrowded.

^^Crown Park Restaurant is already opened in Iriga just very near USANT :okay:

Crown Park and Chow- King Iriga were not open at that time yet.

Bigg's Iriga is at the rotunda area and sometimes very difficult to get a parking space.
