When I saw this post and visited their webpage
I got hungry with what they are offering.
So I called home and instructed not to cook anymore
as I told them I'd bring RBX dinner home.

I was not able to find any parking space
in Rice in a Box Centro
so off I went to Puregold Mall foodcourt....

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/RBX395.jpg

...where they have a stall...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/RBX396.jpg

and order a dinner for four...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/RBX397.jpg

...to go.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/RBX398.jpg?t=1332499466

Dinner is ready!

to akosijamir, that's good for Naguenos. How about the rest of the people from Camsur? More banks means more choices and Naga has that.
:cheers::cheers::cheers:

:) As of now for CamSur excluding Naga, I believe that the number of banks is not a problem.
1. the number of businesses in other towns (outside Naga) is not that many compared to what Naga has.
2. same with population, Naga has bigger population compared to other towns. (bigger depositors)
3. since Naga is the economic/bussiness center of CamSur, it is right to have the good number compared to other towns. most of the people in camsur come to Naga to do their banking.

meaning the number of banks in Naga and in other towns is just well proportion to its present status. :)

;)

Please prevent comparisons from other city or provinces. I have noted this last time i post the data of banks.

The effort of posting all the banks is not only to inform the public viewers in this thread but
1. Guide visitors when they visited our province and cities when they intend to transact in our locality like withdrawal or deposit.

2. Offer banking services to investors/ businesses to a specific location.

3. Again this data is not intended to compare to other cities/provinces to annoy them.

 no worries sir. :) my post was not intended for any comparison or what so ever. It's just an interpretation (a personal opinion) to the datas that were presented. For me, there's no need to compare Naga (it's not a question or issue to me). I know its qualities and its quantities. :)

but thank you again sir for the reminder :)

Golden Knights Celebrate Their Annual Night Out

The Ateneo Golden Knights Men`s Basketball Team held their 8th annual coat and tie dinner, dubbed Varsity Night Out, last March 10, 2012 at the La Piazza Ballroom of the Avenue Plaza Hotel.

This annual event was started in 2005 as a formal way to cap all the team accomplishments during the school year. As the culture grew, it has evolved to become an avenue to pay tribute to the graduating seniors of the team.

This year, four players were given a proper send off as they finish their playing years with the team – Allan Stephen Avila (BS Nursing), Jan Oliver Bosch (BS Nursing), John Cyrlo Nuyles (BS Tourism) and Jerome Ibarra (BS ECE).

All active members of the team attended the event together with their respective lady guests. Members of the Ateneo community, headed by the University Registrar Ms. Aiemon Salvamante, were also present in the event. Other notable guests in the event were Mr. Carlo Buenaflor of Bigg`s Inc., Ms. Rica Buenaflor of Bellefleur Inc., and Fr. Andrew Recepcion, Rector of the Parish of Our Lady of Peñarancia.

Instrumental in the team`s on and off-court milestones this school year was the support from its corporate partners namely Ink-All-You-Can, Olympia Gym, GSM-Magnolia and the Francis Padua Papica Foundation, Inc.

Agree, the presence of fewer banks in other towns in CamSur can be also attributed to lesser number of population. CamSur, though big, has a small density of population.

No funds to divide CamSur, Villafuerte says
MANILA, Philippines - Despite Camarines Sur being one of the country's top tourist destinations, its leaders are torn with the proposal of dividing the province into 2 -- Camarines Sur and Nueva Camarines -- as shown during the Senate's March 22 session wherein attendees included Rep. Arnulfo Fuentebella and Governor Lray Villafuerte. Read more (http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/regions/03/23/12/no-funds-divide-camsur-villafuerte-says)

Sir Haks, it is being aired over DZGB, this morning, tuloy na daa an division nindo, as per supported by the majority politicians in Cam. Sur and it is now at the senate, to be tackled next senate session, how true?

hakz2007
March 24th, 2012, 01:13 AM
^^it has been deliberated last March 22 by the Senate Committee on Local Government chaired by Sen. Bongbong Marcos. After presentations and rebuttals by both sides, the committee adjourned the session to resume on an unspecified date and it would depend on the schedule of the impeachment deliberations.

I think if it would ever be approved by the Senate this year and upon signing it by the President, the Comelec asserted that it has no funds for the conduct of its plebiscite. And as we all know, this October is the scheduled filing of candidacy for the 2013 elections. The Comelec would be busy by then.

It would be better for the Senate to debate it after the elections.

^^based on surveys in CamSur, 90% are against it.

Even on online surveys, many are not into it. But if money prevails, if ever a plebiscite will be conducted, then it's the other way around. Majority of CamSur mayors are allies of the proponent. Kapag may eleksyon, may bayaran.

Honestly, I may never know the reasons why the division is being pushed. But personally, I am not for a division. I would like Partido to be created as a separate province. Rinconada and Partido are culturally and geographically divided (unless the proposed province speeds up infrastructure to "connect" the two districts). Going back to my personal opinion, Partido seems neglected and that is the irony of it all. The governor, according to my co-teachers from Goa, is not very visible in Partido. I have also observed that the Fuentebellas are not really able to "lift" the district from its perennially disturbing condition. I pity the people whose welfare is being sacrificed by the bickering that literally divide leaders, therefore neglecting their constituents to whom they owe their positions. While that may be the case, I see a bright hope for Partido alone if created as a separate province, but that is not possible given the requirements for the creation of a new province, which, sadly, Partido will not be able to meet. Emphatically, it is the people who suffer, unless the leaders unite--but that is far from being realized.

^^ I am amaze by those butterfly pictures. :)

-------------------------------------- here's an article about butterflies at Mt. Isarog---

Butterfly conservation status in Mt. Isarog Natural Park assessed
Tuesday, 29 April 2008 16:42

Butterflies stand out in forest fauna not only for their beauty but more importantly for their role in pollinating crops. These insects also serve as good indicators of balance due to their sensitivity to pesticides and toxins. A rich source of butterflies is Mt. Isarog in the Bicol Region. With butterfly rearing as one of the alternative livelihoods being promoted in the region, the risk of exploiting said fauna could threaten these species. To ensure that butterflies are preserved properly as well as inventoried systematically, Jovillano-Mostoles (CSSAC) assessed their conservation status from September to December 2005.

Findings

-The butterfly inventory yielded 41 species under 29 genera and 7 families in Mt. Isarog. The butterfly families found were Nymphalidae (13 spp.), Pieridae (9 spp.), Papilionidae (8 spp), Danaidae (7 spp.), Satyridae (3 spp.), and Lycaenidae and Hesperidae (1 spp.)
-The Pieridae family was found significantly different in terms of abundance (28.67 +- 26.8) and diversity (.678). The Hesperiids had the lowest abundance (3.0) and diversity (0).
-It was also observed that population was significantly higher in cultivated areas than in forest areas. In contrast, butterflies in cooler areas had striking shades and hues compared with those in cultivated and grassland areas.
-Host plants for common butterflies were abundant but not for rare butterflies.

The study highly recommend that conservation measures be done on both the butterfly species and their host plants. Similarly, reduction of trees and unregulated collection of adult fliers need to be addressed to conserve the abundance of butterflies in Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP).

The problem Josh is that CamSur is divided by political clans. As much as we want to be united- our leaders are not.

Rinconada are for the Alfelors, Partido for the Fuentebellas, Ragay and first district for Andayas.

Naga is lucky as it is an independent city. We do not vote for our governor, income is intact and not shared with the rest of the province, and was under the supervision of good leaders with good governance in mind.

Lucky for Iriga too for the good governance of Mayor Gazmen.

Lucky for CamSur for having a really enigmatic, forward looking governor but his powers are off limits to those mini little CamSur kingdoms that does not believe in his vision.

The rest of CsmSur under the kingdom of traditional politicians had to suffer the consequences.

Anyway, with the present visibility of Aga Mulach in Partido,we can clearly see that the end is near for the 100 years of solitude under the Fuentebellas.

Drama. That's what the Fuentebellas are doing in their sorties. I heard his speech over the radio during a vist of his group in Caramoan, bashing LRey's tourism program as anti poor.

He said something that Gota in Caramoan is owned by the people and should be opened for free for all Caramoanons. It is only apparently catering the rich, the foreigners and the paying tourists. He said that in case that Neuva Camarines becomes a reality, he would give back Gota to the people.:ohno:

He did not mention the economic impact tourism though.

Caramoan has become very popular because of LRey.

He said something that Gota in Caramoan is owned by the people an should be opened for free for all Caramoanons. It is only apparently catering the rich, the foreigners and the paying tourists. He said that inve Neuva Camarines becomes a reality, he would give back Gota to the people.:ohno:

He did not mention the the economic impact tourism though.

Caramoan has become very popular because of LRey.

As if he would get the sentiments of the people of Caramoan

Tourism have brought major economic activities in that secluded town and the constituents are the direct beneficiaries of this tourism projects of the province there. More and more Caramoanons built their own resorts there to cater the needs of thousands of tourists annnually. Even its mayor (who is anti-Lray) has a resort.

wow! this will be another big tourist attraction in the province. :) keep the international events coming! :) "CAMSUR" is now a trending word for tourist and adventure seekers :)

I was in Medical City a while ago, the doctors and the nurses in one of the department there are planning for a summer gateway in Bicol. They want to try Calaguas Island, CamSur (CWC and Caramoan) and Naga City (hot springs). :)

welcome back, sean! hope you have received the ring, robes, sandals and fattened calf hehe

CAMSUR is surely a place to come home to.
it's HOT. and it's also COOL! :banana::banana::banana:

I was reminded by this picture of the "Ralakawan pa Hinulid" harani naman pati Holy Week..

The Lakaw sa Hinulid, I tried it twice, tapos dai na ako nag utro.hahahaha sa Villa Grande nalang ako naprosisyon.hehehe

have tried this once. started at Cathedral and walked all the way to Hinulid. took us 2-3 hrs, i think. that was in 1997, my last summer in Naga before in joined the SJ.

wasn't that tiring- esp as we walked with hundreds and hundreds of pilgrims, many of them young.

magayon na Holy Wk activity ini, sean, for YFC/ SFC!

nice grad formation

I already tried this place. :) It's nice, it's quiet and the place is elegant. :) They also serve unique and interesting food here. The price is bit high but it is well compensated by the taste and experience. :) the also have motor bikes collection there; Ducati and BMW :) I think the owner is a motor bike lover.

wow good to hear that, sean. hope to try the place next visit.

it's named after the mother, Dr Florespina Fernando, who incidentally, was the hand that welcomed me and my two sisters to this big, beautiful world. i remember her old clinic then beside the old Victory Cinema.

yes the son loves bikes. :):):)

When people learn that you guys are from Cam Sur,... do you notice their faces beam with envy?

:banana::banana::banana:

wow! truly an economic power house of bicol! numbers don't lie. :)

with those numbers and present high purchasing power of Naguenos, the average number of bank accounts per Nagueno might be 2 or 3, depending on their status and business. :) the tendency is, their money is distributed to different banks since they have many options. And since PDIC insurance is up to 200,000, people will just open a bank account and maintain the 200,000 maximum deposit. And they will open another account to a different bank and maintain the PDIC insured deposit. :) Naguenos are wise. With the several banks that closed, they already learned. They will not put all their money in one bank. Never!

and maybe that's the reason why we have many banks here in CamSur, especially in Naga. People can put their money to different banks which can sustain the strong banking industry in Naga.:banana:

Is this infront of Geewan Centro pao?

Also there are tarps around the city about the third Caramel Bakeshop opening in E- Mall.

It is heartening to note that this Bakeshop that orignated from Daet has mushroomed in the city and has now three branches after 3 years of operating at SM City Naga.

Much more branches than in their hometown (no camparison intended).

it's good to know that Carmel Bakeshop is thriving and that it originates from our neighboring city, Daet.

^^Yes, time to unwind after the very hectic schedule of this month.. wheeew
time to replace the Fuentebellas with a young and new one.

perhaps it's time indeed for fresh blood as nothing much has really happened with the Fs reigning supreme in the area for the longest time.

staying too long in position isn't really good. creativity and passion dissipate.

how i wish there were better local candidates aside from Aga. :) but we might be left with just this option.

New face in Partido political arena.

Beautiful faces- beautiful future.

By the way, Iriga City Mayor Gazmen had already written the Senate of her opposition to the creation of Nueva Camarines.

DTI to consumers: post your
plaints on Facebook, Twitter

NAGA CITY --- The provincial office here of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is using the services of social networking sites where consumers can post their complaints against any form of unfair trade practices by business establishments.

The web-based system of reporting and receiving complaints has been adopted by the DTI in its effort to encourage consumers to report violations of the provisions of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

By using the Facebook and Twitter, DTI-Camarines Sur hopes to broaden its reach especially among the young ones who need to learn about their rights as consumers as guaranteed by Republic Act 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

DA turns over P2.3-M
farm equipment to Bicol farmers

PILI, Camarines Sur --- The Regional Field Unit (RFU) for Bicol here of the Department of Agriculture (DA) recently turned over under its Agri-Pinoy Rice Program (APRP) farm machineries and equipment worth P2.3 million to farmer’s organizations in the region.

Its Recipients were 23 farmers’ organizations based in the province of Camarines Sur who committed to heed the Aquino administration’s goal to make Bicol and the entire country food self-sufficient by 2013.

Jose Dayao, the DA regional executive director, said farm mechanization is meant to modernize agriculture and minimize post harvest losses.

“We have increased our target in procuring farm machineries and equipment like hand tractors, palay threshers and seed cleaners that we distribute to organized groups of farmers in the region,” he said.

Farmers, he explained, when provided with the appropriate support mechanism will in turn produce more and will continue to be DA’s partner in its programs and projects like the Agri-Pinoy.

Two-phase scheme for Naga
Riverwalk project proposed
By Gerald O. Enguero

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff507/Nagacity/xbot.gif

RIVER CRUISE. Shown above is an artist’s sketch of a ferry boat prepared by city hall in a bid to make the Naga River a functional tourist conveyance and attraction.

NAGA CITY --- The city government here will be better off pursuing a two-phased implementation of its Riverwalk project, the newly completed pre-feasibility study (PFS) for the Integrated Naga River Revitalization Project (iNRRP) shows.

With funding from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), the consulting team from Icon Institut recently presented the highlights of the PFS to a multisectoral audience last February 22 at the Villa Caceres Hotel.

Alistair Blunt, PFS team leader, highlighted in his presentation five options for the Riverwalk, one of the major components of the iNRRP, one of which was drawn from the 2010 Salog Kan Buhay conceptual design competition sponsored by the city. The winning design concept formed the basis for one of the options considered.

These options are:

The “Do nothing concept’’ or leaving the market to determine what improvements were made along the river.

The “River Route concept” a development of a river walk that avoided areas where there were problems and objections and provided an alternative route around these obstacles.

Villafuertes square off at Senate CamSur hearing
MANILA, Philippines—Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte Jr. openly tangled with his father, Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte Sr., at a Senate hearing on Thursday on the proposed breakup of the province to create a new one, Nueva Camarines.

But the Commission on Elections (Comelec) virtually doused cold water on the wrangling of the Villafuertes when it declared that it had no funds for the conduct of any plebiscite this year, and was prioritizing the automation of the 2013 elections.Read more (http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/166531/villafuertes-square-off-at-senate-camsur-hearing)

^^Talagang kadaklan kan mga nagdadayo sa Naga nag-aagi sa airport kan Legazpi. Nagpapahiling na medyo kaipuhan ng matawan nin remedyo an Naga airport. Siguro kun tultol an airport aabuton nin 100 flights yan based sa comment ni Gov. Lray...

when i'm not in a hurry i also fly via lgp ta sayang kang miles and free baggage allowance. yan lang ta 2-hr ride. the van ride for the flight back to mnl, though, is more convenient as the van can drop you off right at the lgp airport.

as for me a big and decent airport will do, maski bakong international. a bigger, wider runway to accommmodate larger aircraft is most welcome- and is badly needed, as we all know.

Ken also got the departmental award for Management Engineering which is by the way, among the toughest, if not the toughest, course at the ateneo de manila.

ken finished cum laude. while some others finished summa cum laude he was chosen Class Valedictorian for his overall excellence -- not just academics but also social involvement and curricular, co- and extra-curricular activities.

i met his parents 2 nights ago in the dinner hosted for our dormers and their parents. his dad was former mayor palan. Ken was a scholar at the ateneo de manila for all 4 years and his scholarship included free dorm.

a really good guy. quite humble, too. very articulate. was a debater back in his high school years at the ateneo de naga, and he also became the team captain of the ateneo de manila debating team.

NB: in jesuit universities Class Valedictorians are chosen even in the university level.

also, those finishing undergraduate degrees do not wear hoods, but only cordons with the ateneo medallion. the course is distinguished still by the color of the cordon.

only masters and doctoral graduates wear hoods. kaya these MA and PhD graduates really stand out in the crowd and receive much applause :):):)

Hello guys and gals, I am so glad to hear discussion regarding our beloved airport again though for a brief moment. Is there any possible way of gathering information or even gossips about what they're going to do about it?

Love the river walk project, I think regarding budget and making it as a reality are not much of a problem. The more challenging one is maintenance and sustainability, wherein all stakeholders must cooperate, referring to city govt, civic organisations and simply all naguenios. Its a first In southern Luzon, it could be the only one in the whole philippines if it becomes successful In sustainability- a big part of its Maintenance Budget is being paid by tourists and city dwellers.

I didn't follow much the discussion about banks in naga compare to legaspi and naga and legaspi will always be arch rival. We could only be the one "people on the web" whose making these two cities compete you know, ordinary folks they just dont give it a single thought. They just enjoy both cities according to their wants and needs. It may be a simplistic suggestion but in a way would lessen verbal arrows between threads if we just focus on our own turf.

By the way, weather here in wales is getting glorious, about 20 degrees Celsius.

L-Ray’s congressional bid

The announcement of Camarines Sur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte that he is seeking election as second district solon--a post currently occupied by Representative Dato Arroyo, may be viewed from several angles, with emphasis on the probable reasons that the provincial executive considered, as well as on the implications and consequences of such decision.

The immediate response of pro Nueva Camarines adherents is, as to be expected, that L-Ray has practically given up his campaign against the partition of Camarines Sur.

That claim however has no solid basis...

By the way, tomorrow we will be at the adventure park at Haciendas de Naga. They would be shooting the TVC with the kids from The Village Montessori. My daughter is one of them.

I'll post photos here.

Cheers doc, with that pool, that truly is winner, I'll probably go there when we go home. We went to gota village last 2009, nangangapa pa sinda kadto.

Let's hope that Caramoan beauty wont suffer the same fate as what Bora is experiencing as several resorts in Boracay allegedly lacks environmental and business permits.

dikit na halat na sana!

^^based on surveys in CamSur, 90% are against it.

Even on online surveys, many are not into it. But if money prevails, if ever a plebiscite will be conducted, then it's the other way around. Majority of CamSur mayors are allies of the proponent. Kapag may eleksyon, may bayaran.

good to know this. :)

Watch the AdNU College Graduation LIVE on IM Multimedia TV later at 3pm. (live at http://ustre.am/AKrq/1)!

this is a consolation particularly for OFW parents/ relatives who cannot come

Also, heard over at DZOK FM that Naga won the bidding fro 2013 Philippine National Games.

It's more than just fun in Caramoan
It’s more than just fun in Caramoan.

On a calm night devoid of stars, ride a motorboat on the waters of the Tugawe Bay in Caramoan and be delighted by the sight of what appears to be numerous stars or fireflies dancing in the waters. These effulgent escapes that streak through the vitamin-rich waters around the mangrove routes resemble bursts of fireworks. Under the outrigger of the motorboat, they flicker and dart by you like friendly phantoms below the surface, this time emanating more luminescence into the darkness. The only other time I experienced this was at Mosquito Bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico and I was ecstatic it could be, to a certain degree, witnessed in Caramoan as well.

That pool design was apparently meant to blend with tho forested outdoor surrounding of the Tugawe Cove. (If it really is the Tugawe Pool). Even some of the cabanas and cottages were built on stilts to preserve the natural slope of the island.

Bad news guys, and a little bit of good news . The dumping in Almeda Highway us it the Robindin's property. The Robinson's property is right beside it (between that lot and the fenced corner lot at the intersection of Almeda and Diversion.

It is still untouched.

That dumping, according to the person that I talked to is apparently a road that would connect Almeda Highway to Pili (perhaps CWC and Ayala property). He said it is also what he heard.

If it is true then that would become a real hot property as it would connect major establishments like the several DMCI Subdivisions, the upcoming ( but a always being stopped By DAR), CWC, Ayala Amaia, Robinson's, Puregold Mall and the nearby SM City Naga.

And looking at the photos that pao posted earlier, it really looks like a road.:)

Actually, this April, tourism students from a university here in Bicol will be having their one month practicum at La Carmela De Boracay from April 15 to May 15 with a Showtime studio guesting.

The other batch will be having an apprenticeship on board 2Go (formerly Superferry) via Manila-Cebu and Cebu-Manila route. They will also explore Cebu City as inclusion to the package

Not to mention, certificates will be given.

Can I have their contact numbers sir :)

They need it after their local OJT here in Bicol.

I only have 2 OJT affiliates, one based here in Naga and the other in Manila also connected with Superferry.

Just finished watching Mayor John Bongat's interview over at GNN Channell 48, here's a portion of what transpired on his interview:

1. Cultural, Buisness and Student Exchange Program between Naga City and its sister city Leandro City, San Francisco, California.

2. PPP of the BIG Dome of the South. The City is now accepting bidders to privately manage the City coliseum. The scheme is patterned after well-kown stadiums and coliseums abroad particularly in US acquired and manage by private groups, eg, the Oracle Arena, the Staples Center and recently here in the Philippines, the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The City, however, will retain the various offices at the facade of the coliseum which includes the Habitat Center, Naga City Art Gallery, DOST-DTI Pili Showroom and the Naga City Sports Office.

3. With the growing businesses within the CBD2, the City will construct a PNP sub-station within the CBD2 District.

4. Waste-to-Energy Facility. The entire project will cover 10 hectares in the brgy of San Isidro and the timeframe for the completion of the multi-billion facilities is 2-years. According to Mayor JB, there's a little problem on the transfer of settlers, however, the project shall push through as soon as the settlers are given relocation.

5. Naga River Revitalization Project. Next month will be the release of the final design as well as other prerequisites for this noble project. FYI, the City Revitalization project was lauded and given award by the Singaporean government.

Initial project in relation to the revitalization project is the construction of "pantalan" near hotels and also near the busy strip of Magsaysay.

6. Initial projects to unfold in Naga City according to Mayor JB are:

Government
1. SEC sub-regional office
2. DBP Regional Office
3. LTFRB at the back of City Hall

Also, he mentioned that American Automobile FORD will construct its service and showroom at Del Rosario, Naga City.

It was Fr. Pat who mentioned of the proposed DBP new regional building when it was posted on national dailies for bidding purposes.
